2026 Miches Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in August)

We booked a round trip transfer for a group of 10 from Punta Cana International Airport to Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort and Spa. The website was very user-friendly, offering simple booking, various payment options, and great follow-up communication. Communication was key, and EasyCana made the process flawless. The 1.5-hour drive from the airport to the resort was scenic and enjoyable. They provided clear instructions via email on where to meet our driver, who greeted us with our name on a digital screen. Both arrival and departure pickups were punctual. The drivers were friendly, even offering shopping stops on the way there and a quick "pit stop" on the way back. The vans were clean, modern, had excellent AC, and easily accommodated luggage for our group of 10. Just book it—it’s worth it!

We booked the "Laguna del Limon" trip with Bloemie and were promptly picked up at our hotel. Once the rest of the group joined (only 8 guests total), we headed to Montana Redonda. From the top, there's a stunning panoramic view, and you can enjoy the scenery on swings or from a tower. Everything was relaxed with no rigid schedules. Later, we visited Donna Anna, where we saw various plants and animals and learned how products like cocoa are processed. Bloemie explained everything informatively and entertainingly. There was also the option to buy local items at the cooperative—completely voluntary and pleasant. Lunch followed at a Dominican restaurant with a small buffet of delicious local dishes. Next, we went to the horse stables where guests could ride to the beach if they wished. Many thanks to Rosa, who lovingly took care of our daughter. The beach was serene and uncrowded, allowing plenty of time to enjoy its beauty, alongside fresh coconuts. Drinks were available throughout the day, and in the morning, each participant received a reusable thermos cup to avoid using disposable plastic cups—an eco-friendly touch we appreciated. Bloemie took excellent care of the group throughout the day, making it both enjoyable and relaxing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great value for money. If we had discovered this provider sooner, we would have booked more excursions with them!

We returned to this fabulous resort for our second visit after enjoying our stay around the same time last year. Last year, we stayed for 24 nights, but this time, we opted for 8 nights at the new Secrets Playa Esmeralda, followed by 6 nights at Secrets Playa Cap Cana. Ending our holiday at SCC proved to be the right choice, as despite the lovely new bedrooms and superb beds at Playa Esmeralda, along with the fantastic long beach walks, SCC truly wins hands down! Once again, the quality of service at SCC was outstanding. Our butler Yohan, who attended to us last year, warmly greeted us this time, even having a photo of me on his phone. He was exceptional throughout, handling restaurant reservations, fulfilling all our requests, and surprising us with thoughtful touches. We love the resort’s mature grounds, and the food is top-notch — perhaps the best in the Dominican Republic. We never had a bad meal. Our room was comfortable, offering a pool view with a partial glimpse of the sea, though the air conditioning was temperamental and there were a few minor power outages. The team at Coco Cafe was incredible, memorizing our order after just one visit. Standouts like Solange and Alexander, along with the rest of the staff, delivered excellent service. Around the pool, Marilyn, Yohani, and Glenis provided superb care, while Michael and Maribel at Sugar Reef bar ensured our sundowners were delightful. Marian at the Juice bar made fantastic fresh juices, and Tiefilo and Keila at Rosewater offered great service. Our 6 nights were absolutely wonderful, making it hard to leave. SCC continues to deliver superb service, and we can’t wait to return!

A wonderful experience with beautiful locations and stunning beaches. We visited Samaná, Montaña Redonda, and Saona Island. Eduardo and Katerin accompanied us; both were fantastic and very kind. A tip: don't forget sunscreen and take lots of photos! With them, we felt like number one.

This is the most unusual mountain we've ever been to. It's immersed in greenery and nestled between lagoons. It offers breathtaking 360-degree views, but the drive to the top is even more impressive! Tourists are taken to the summit in SUVs. We were taken after the rain, and it was quite a ride, making even the drivers nervous. But for the panoramic views, the swing over the abyss, and the hammocks, we all closed our eyes and went! In reality, everything here is extremely safe, as the abyss beneath the swing is just an illusion and the angle is perfect. But the drive to the top is extreme!
