#overratedspots I spent an evening bar-hopping along Dauphin Street in Mobile, Alabama, and found the famous cocktail crawl more exhausting than enjoyable. The street is historic and charming, with its old brick buildings and wrought-iron balconies, but the bars were packed with people, all moving slowly between venues. The atmosphere was lively, but the experience of trying to enjoy a drink while being jostled by the crowd made it hard to focus on anything. I arrived on foot from my hotel downtown, which took about ten minutes, and walked along the main strip for about two hours. Most of the bars did not charge a cover, though a few had lines and entrance fees for special events. I paid $8 for a cocktail at one of the more popular spots, which I ordered at the bar and paid for by card, though some smaller venues preferred cash. I made the mistake of not eating beforehand, and the food options along the strip were limited and overpriced. One thing I did not expect was how aggressive some of the promoters were. Several people stood outside the bars, handing out flyers and insisting I come in, and a few refused to take no for an answer. I also learned that the street gets even more crowded later in the evening, especially on weekends, so arriving earlier is a good idea if you want to actually hear the music. My suggestion is to explore the side streets and smaller venues off Dauphin Street, where the drinks are often better and the crowds thinner. If you want a more authentic Mobile experience, look for a local dive bar or a smaller club. For me, the cocktail crawl was more tiring than enjoyable.

I currently use Nomad and it’s the eSIM app I keep going back to. It’s easy to set up, simple to manage while travelling, and you can buy your data before you even leave home. Here are my 5 eSIM tips: 1. Compare the price per GB Don’t just choose the cheapest plan. Check how much data you actually get and how long it lasts. 2. Choose the right type of plan If you’re visiting one country, a local eSIM is usually enough. If you’re moving around several countries, a regional plan can be much easier. 3. Install it before you fly Set everything up while you still have reliable Wi-Fi. Then you can activate it when you arrive. 4. Turn off roaming on your main SIM Keep your normal SIM for calls or verification texts if you need it, but make sure mobile data is using your eSIM so you don’t get surprise roaming charges. 5. Don’t automatically buy unlimited data Think about how much you really use. Maps, WhatsApp and normal social media use may need much less data than you expect. My current favourite is Nomad, but it’s also worth comparing Airalo, Holafly, Saily and Ubigi depending on the country and the deal available. The best eSIM isn’t always the same everywhere, so compare before every trip. #eSIM #NomadESIM #TravelTips #TravelHack #BudgetTravel #TravelSmart #TravelApps #MobileData #Roaming #TravelTech #InternationalTravel #TripMoments #TravelPlanning #TravelGuide

The USS Alabama (BB-60) is one of the U.S. Navy's most iconic World War II battleships. Today, she is moored in Mobile, Alabama, serving as the centerpiece of the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. 🇺🇸 Her Combat Legacy What makes the USS Alabama so fascinating is that despite not being commissioned until 1942, she saw action during the most intense phases of the Pacific War. One of her primary missions was serving as a heavy escort and anti-aircraft powerhouse for carrier task forces. 💥 The Main Event: Nine 16-inch Giant Guns This is easily the most awe-inspiring part of the tour. The ship features three main turrets, each housing three 16-inch (406 mm) guns. This means a single broadside could launch nine shells—each weighing about a ton—at the same time. The ship functioned like a floating city. With onboard engineering offices and workshops capable of fabricating or repairing almost any part, she was self-sufficient. Beyond being a "Steel Giant," she was practically a cruise ship [smile]: the amenities were incredibly comprehensive. In addition to a massive galley and bakery, there were laundry facilities, a tailor shop, a barbershop, and even a darkroom. The food variety was impressive too, featuring meat, bread, fruit, and even a dedicated ice cream window—a true luxury considering many struggled with food shortages during the war. Displayed right alongside her is the USS Drum (SS-228). ⚓ What class is the USS Drum? The USS Drum (SS-228) is a renowned Gato-class diesel-electric submarine. She was launched in 1941 and officially commissioned on November 1 of that same year. 🇺🇸 A True "Silent Hunter" of the Pacific What sets the USS Drum apart is her authenticity; she isn't just a training vessel or a post-war replica. She was a front-line combat submarine that completed 13 war patrols during WWII. 💥 Her Combat Successes One of the USS Drum's most notable achievements was the sinking of the Japanese escort carrier Taiyō in October 1942. For her distinguished service, she was awarded 12 Battle Stars, making her one of the most decorated U.S. submarines of the war.

✅ Must Experience: Visit the now-extinct battleships, the kings of naval warfare before the era of aircraft carriers. Friends who play naval games will definitely be familiar; in the games, after we accumulate enough supplies, this is the thing we aim for. 🧳 Pre-trip Preparation: Mobile, Alabama, is the only port in the state. 'Forrest Gump' mentioned that Forrest was from this state. What I visited in Mobile was a battleship—the USS Alabama (BB60). The United States had about 20 battleships before World War I, and the number increased to about 28 during World War II. Today, there are 5 that have become museums. 🏨 Hotel Environment: The hotel is located in the downtown area. The city is not very large, just by the river. After exiting the tunnel and taking a few turns, you'll arrive. It's all carpeted, in the style of old-fashioned American hotels. ⏳ Visit Impressions: The typical feature of a battleship is its bulkiness, much fatter than a cruiser. There was a time in history when the doctrine of 'big ships and big guns' was pursued, referring to the size of battleship shells, some taller than a person. They were once the main force of navies. However, during World War II, with the rise of aircraft carriers, battleships gradually lost their status as the dominant force at sea. The most interesting is the world's largest battleship—the Japanese Yamato, which, apart from its symbolic role, did almost nothing during the entire war. Today, this class of ship no longer exists in navies. 🌟 Highlights: The USS Alabama belongs to the South Dakota class of battleships, commissioned in 1942 and decommissioned in 1947. Although it was not in service for a long time, it participated in several important battles of the Pacific War, such as the Marshall Islands, Mariana, and the most famous Battle of Leyte Gulf, and it created a record of zero casualties, earning the nickname 'Lucky A'. The ship is 227 meters long and 36 meters wide, with a full-load displacement of nearly 43,000 tons (the Yamato was 73,000 tons), and the main gun caliber is 406 millimeters. 👍 Most Recommended: The ship is big, and so is the captain's room, which is much more luxurious than the destroyer I saw a few days ago. In the photos, there is the sailors' living area, what do you think? 💰 Average Cost: The museum's ticket is $15, and in addition to the battleship, there are many small boats, tanks, planes, etc.
