Oura Oura Reserve is a key protected area of Bush Heritage Australia in Tasmania. Spanning a vast area with diverse ecosystems, it truly preserves Tasmania's original natural landscape. The trails traverse wetlands, forests, grasslands, and other ecosystems, offering a 2-3 hour hike that allows you to experience the multifaceted nature of Tasmania.

This rustic wooden hut in the Liffey Valley is an important symbol of Australia's environmental movement. This place was the site of many key environmental initiatives, including the campaign to stop the Franklin River dam, and the birthplace of the Australian Greens' ideology.

Bob Brown, one of Australia's most influential environmentalists, a former Federal Senator, and the founder of the Australian Greens, lived, wrote, and organized environmental actions in this cottage, where the concept of Bush Heritage Australia was conceived. He later donated the entire land to become a permanent reserve.

The reserve's trails are approximately 2km long (no uphill sections), with gentle slopes, perfect for families or first-time hikers in Tasmania.
We chose the Pinnacle Walk, which winds through wetlands and grasslands, offering expansive views. The wind blowing across the grasslands creates golden waves, a truly soothing sight.

🦔 Wildlife: Tasmanian Surprises
At Oura Oura Reserve, wildlife almost always seems to "walk right past your camera."
Common sights include hedgehogs 🦔 and snakes 🐍, and occasionally, small marsupials endemic to Tasmania.
It is recommended to wear non-slip hiking shoes, bring insect repellent, maintain a safe distance, and quietly observe their natural behavior.
