2026 Brisbane Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in July)

I recently visited Brisbane's Chinatown and found myself asking an interesting question. After you've been to China, do Chinatowns around the world still feel special? For me, the answer is yes 😄 They're different. Not necessarily more authentic. Not necessarily less authentic. Just different. Each one reflects the city and country it's belongs to. And that's part of what makes them interesting. Do you make a point of visiting Chinatowns when you travel?

Previously, I shared several posts about Australian city skylines. In fact, exploring the city interiors reveals many wonderful buildings and spaces. The octagonal reading room is spectacularly beautiful. · 6️⃣ Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne This exhibition hall and the adjacent Carlton Gardens were built for the 1880 World Expo and are now a World Heritage Site. · 7️⃣ City Hall, Brisbane 8️⃣ Eyes are Singing Out, Brisbane 9️⃣ The Icon Lego Tower, Melbourne 🔟 Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne 1️⃣1️⃣ Graffiti Lane, Melbourne · 1️⃣2️⃣ Hyde Park Barracks, one of the 11 sites of the World Heritage-listed "Australian Convict Sites" and also one of the most accessible. This history museum is worth visiting. #hiddenspots St Stephens is a beautiful church with a lot of history associated with it. The stained glass windows are amazing. There is a chapel dedicated to St Mary MacKillop and lots of beautiful statuary. Many reviews highlight the informative guided tours, which provide insights into the history and architectural features of the cathedral. The staff and volunteers are often described as welcoming and knowledgeable. Additionally, the surrounding grounds and gardens add to the overall charm and appeal of the site. Overall, the Cathedral of St Stephen is appreciated not only for its religious significance but also as a cultural and historical landmark in Brisbane.

#springtravel Visiting the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha was undoubtedly one of the most refreshing and beautiful experiences of our trip! The sheer diversity of plant life and the well-maintained trails are simply stunning. The Striking Tropical Display Dome: Stepping inside this massive geodesic dome feels like entering another world. There are not enough signs to be sure which track one is following. There is no systematic way of seeing everything, as the tracks overlap and cross. After much deliberation, I decided to visit just one place—Walter's Steakhouse. With a Google rating of 4.5, it seemed trustworthy, and its location near the Botanic Gardens Park was ideal. Although I visited without a reservation and had to wait, the staff were incredibly friendly, making the wait completely bearable.

The Brisbane Museum is located on the third floor of Brisbane City Hall in the city centre. There is a great deal on display about Aboriginal Australia, including their unique clothing, culture and artwork, especially for those interested in learning about Australia’s local history and national culture. Brisbane is considered one of the youngest and most modern cities in Australia. We noticed this upon arrival. Before this, I don't recall seeing dedicated roads for buses anywhere else. Not just lanes, but actual tracks. The park in the very center of the city was also surprising. A huge botanical garden and park right in the city center, featuring a large food court and a swimming pool. Not just a pool, but practically an entire sea where, I think, about a thousand people could fit. Walking through the center, we saw both historical architecture and modern skyscrapers, along with many green parks. Another surprising feature was the number of bridges. We've never seen so many bridges anywhere else.

They don't call this palatial hotel in Brisbane the Treasury for no reason! It is spectacular! Mummy treated us a night in the suite on our visit to Brisbane, and the suite was so beautiful and huge!🏨 The walls were VERY high, the decor was sublime, just like a palace bedroom! A perfect place to feel like a king or queen for the night! I recently had dinner at Longwang in Brisbane City and it was an absolute delight. The whole evening exceeded our expectations from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere. We went for the Jade Banquet, and wow — it was plenty for two people. We couldn’t even finish it! The dishes were incredibly well-executed: full of flavour, beautifully presented, and with great variety. Every bite was a delight. Our waiter was amazing — friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. At the bar, the staff mixed us a beautiful Thai cocktail, and we loved how approachable and skilled the bartending was. The combination of great service and personal touches really made the evening. The restaurant has a stylish, modern vibe, tucked into a narrow laneway space on Edward Street in Brisbane City. It’s quirky and elegant at the same time. The setting gave us a fun, lively vibe but still felt comfortable and relaxed.
