The Terracotta Army: A Timeless Wonder
Soldiers in rows, standing so tall,
Crafted with artistry, one and all,
A wonder of ancient history,
With this army, awe you would see.
Looking proud and ready in rows,
Guarding the emperor, so it goes,
Terracotta Warriors, frozen in time,
Preserved for ages, a wonder sublime.

Terracotta army-just for a tick in UNESCOlist
Visiting terracotta army was the biggest disappointment of the summer for a few reasons:
1. Herds of tourists and terrible heat this July
2. Overpriced (for a hall of statues... )
Well, I could still recommend to go there to those, who don't have overestimated expectations and NOT during summer holidays.
My tour included a visit to Huaqing palace in the morning which I liked better (all pictures but the first are from that site), even had some time to hike the "mountain". However, if you prepare in advance and learn a bit about Xian's incident, you can see a play of the same name there at the Scenic spot (I missed it because I didn't prepare well enough in advance and regretted afterwards)

Exploring the 2,000-Year-Old Terracotta Army Guarding Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s Tomb | Xi'an
Witnessing the legendary World Heritage site: The Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang at the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum in Xi'an.
Fulfilling a childhood dream of visiting this place at least once. I’ve finally made it, and I’ve actually returned to Xi'an three times now—always as a solo traveler exploring China on my own as usual.
📍 Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum (秦始皇帝陵博物院)
Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province
This museum houses an incredible collection of terracotta soldiers, war horses, and bronze chariots dating back over 2,200 years. The highlight is visiting the three main excavation pits:
💡 Pit 1: The largest pit, showcasing thousands of infantry soldiers and war chariots standing in perfect formation.
💡 Pit 2: This pit contains a mix of military units and is still undergoing excavation. The area is set up with excavation equipment and restoration tables inside the building. There are also glass displays showing well-preserved figures up close, such as the famous Kneeling Archer.
💡 Pit 3: The smallest of the three, which served as the military headquarters for the terracotta army.
Near the museum exit, there’s a lively pedestrian zone filled with local street food, souvenir shops, and vendors selling replica terracotta statues all along the way.
🚇 Take Xi'an Metro Line 9 to Huaqing Chi Station (华清池站), Exit C. From there, take tourist bus Lintong 617 to the museum entrance.
👉🏻 Tip: You can visit Huaqing Palace first since it’s at the same stop (I’ve already posted separate content for that, so check my profile!).
🚖 Didi/Taxi: Pin "秦始皇帝陵博物院" (It’s about 40 km from downtown Xi'an).
💰 Admission: 120 RMB (Includes a shuttle bus to the actual tomb mound. I recommend booking in advance via WeChat or Trip.com).
⏰ Hours: Open daily from 08:30 AM to 6:00 PM (Nov–Mar: 08:30 AM to 5:30 PM).

West Bexington beach.
Beautiful day out recently.
These photos show West Bexington beach on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England.
The area is known for its shingle beach and is near Chesil Beach.
It is a popular location for rural holiday cottages and fishing.
The sun was shining and there were clear views.

Xian Legends Live
The Terracotta Warriors Museum stands as one of the most extraordinary archaeological discoveries of the modern world, offering a powerful glimpse into China’s ancient past. Located near Xi’an, the museum protects the vast underground army built over 2,200 years ago to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor. Upon entering the main exhibition pits, visitors are met with rows of life-sized soldiers standing in silent formation, their presence both awe-inspiring and solemn.
Each terracotta figure is unique, with distinct facial expressions, hairstyles, and armor, reflecting remarkable craftsmanship and attention to detail. Warriors, archers, cavalry, and horses were arranged according to real military ranks, revealing the sophistication and discipline of the Qin dynasty’s army. Though now earth-toned, many figures were once brightly painted, hinting at the vivid spectacle they must have presented when first created.
Beyond the statues themselves, the museum provides valuable insight into ancient engineering, burial customs, and imperial power. Tools, weapons, and interactive displays help explain how such a massive project was completed. The Terracotta Warriors Museum is not merely an exhibition of statues; it is a profound encounter with ambition, artistry, and the enduring legacy of one of history’s most influential empires.

dead men tell some tales
This visit went beyond the expectations.. the pictures I saw on the history books came to life (well, almost😹) but the majesty, the well preservation, the variety of details on the soldiers.. one of the best days I had in Xi'an. And I must say, I expected to see way more crowd, but in the end I could easily wander around the pit without incurring to any inconvenience.

Roman History in Dorchester
Dorchester is a fascinating small city with history that stretches back to the Roman era. The Roman villa ruins is free to explore and sits alongside other attractions such as the hangman’s cottage and the beautiful canal. The city also has many lovely museums including a Tutankhamen exhibition, an old courthouse, and a museum that houses Hitler’s personal desk from his chancellory in Berlin.

Tranquil as a forest, but on fire within
It’s no secret that the Terracotta Warriors would make it onto the list of China’s world wonders. But I cannot explain to you how breathtaking they are. Such rich and long history, being played out and excavated right in front of you, is truly unforgettable. To beat the crowds, I recommend going during an off season. As a short person, I had to be patient when wading through crowds to see these beauties, but they were well worth it.

THE LANGHAM
One of the nicer hotels of NYC. Ashley at the front desk is super nice, and the doormen are beyond exceptional. The rooms are extremely spacious, especially for an NYC hotel.
This hotel goes ABOVE and beyond standards of service. I wish I could give them a 10 star. They are legitimately phenomenal. You simply cannot beat this hotels vibe or service. You will be treated like a king, they are so kind and accommodating, this is truly what a 5 star hotel is, a Michelin five star! We had such a wonderful stay! We felt right at home the entire time. Excellent staff, rooms were so spacious and extra clean. Bathrooms were beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Room service was always delicious. Everything was top notch! Will be recommending to all our friends and family. Thank you again, for such a delightful stay and for helping us extend our stay when we needed to.- Pulido family#hotelstay #hotel
