[December 2024] Latest Panama entry information🇵🇦
Panama🇵🇦, a country located on the isthmus connecting Central America and South America.
It is known to Japanese people as the country with the Panama Canal, an important transport route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
I will share the information when I traveled to Panama at the end of December 2024✍️
✈️Destination
Panama Tocumen International Airport
🎟️Visa
If Japanese people enter Panama for tourism purposes,
a visa or tourist card is not required for 90 days or less.
📝Entry requirements
You must possess the following↓
A. Passport with a remaining validity of 3 months or more at the time of entry
B. Return air ticket, etc.
C. Cash equivalent to 500 US dollars or more (Note: You must prove that you have funds during your stay)
🌏Travel to and from Colombia
Air travel is recommended for travel to and from Colombia. The border area with Colombia is a dense jungle area that is not adequately monitored by security authorities, and armed groups repeatedly enter and leave the country to smuggle drugs, etc., so if you travel by land (on foot), you are at risk of being kidnapped or killed by these groups. In addition, due to the increase in foreigners attempting to enter the country illegally from the Colombian side, the border guards in charge of guarding the area are strictly checking foreigners entering the country by land, and if their purpose of entry and personal details are unclear, they will be detained. 🗣️Immigration Inspection At immigration, after showing the inspector my passport and departure ticket, I was asked questions about my purpose, place of stay, and occupation. I had the impression that I was asked quite detailed questions for immigration in Central America. I think it's a good idea to prepare to be able to communicate basic things in English. Panama is a rare country in Latin America, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued a travel warning, so it is a relatively safe country to visit. My impression from actually going there was that the infrastructure was well developed and the US dollar was widely used as currency, making the trip extremely comfortable✨
