The restaurant was founded in 1896, serving delicious traditional French cuisines. I love their Grilled Escargots, so delicious! The sauce was so good, I dipped the bread and finished it all. Also, must try their Duck Confit. It was very flavourful, crispy outside, and the meat was tender and juicy. The drawbacks: The restaurant had a super long queue, so we waited about 45 minutes to get in. Inside, it was very crowded. We had to share a table with other people, the atmosphere was quite intense and noisy. Service was fast though. Worth a visit for the food. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a beef steak and chocolate ice cream which wasn’t bad, but honestly not amazing. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes which made me wonder if they have it prepared and it sits there for ages. The bread was tasty and I was eating it and dipping it in the leftover sauce and then our waitress came and took it all away abruptly so I couldn’t even finish it on time. I left the restaurant kinda hungry, so I would recommend you only go there for the experience. When it comes to authentic historical experience this is the place you need to visit, it bursts with authenticity. From waiters and how they work to architecture of the place. Bouillon Chartier has three stores in Paris. You can order an appetizer, main course, dessert, and wine for less than 30 euros. The menu changes slightly depending on the day, so you won't get bored even if you go every day. There are many tourists, so you have to queue. You can buy and enjoy hot wine while waiting in line. To avoid queuing as much as possible, if you are traveling alone, tell the staff that you are alone and they will find you a table where you can share a table, like Disney's single rider. Since you will be sharing a table, it is better to act early if you are traveling alone to avoid losing time. If you are going with two or more people, line up a little before the rotation and you will be able to enter on the first round. I visited this restaurant in 2014 and thought it had a great value for money. It was known for its affordable and delicious French food. I visited it again 10 years later. Maybe it was because I was older and had more food experience, so this workers' restaurant was no longer in my eyes. First of all, the price is indeed cheaper than other French restaurants in Paris, but the service is also relatively casual. The dishes were not cleaned properly, so my friend was scared and had to bring his own wet towels to wipe them repeatedly. The pickled raw herring appetizer tasted good! But be careful with the fish bones. Another dish, mayonnaise celery, is quite good, seasoned with a light yellow mustard flavor. The main courses include confit duck legs, bourguignon beef, and stewed veal head (don't order this if you are timid). The taste is like a home-cooked meal, not good but not bad. Looking at the full house and the long queues outside the restaurant, I'm curious if this is everyone's first time here? Because of its century-old history, I would still recommend people who have never been here to come and try it without having to queue!
