👉Gantong Temple was formerly known as Dangshan Temple. According to the Dangshan Zhilue, "Dangshan Temple on Cangshan Mountain was first built in the Han Dynasty and rebuilt in the Tang Dynasty." 👍In 1581, Bai scholar Li Yuanyang wrote the Rebuilding of Gantong Temple, which begins with, "Ten miles south of Dali City, there is a temple called Gantong in the west of the valley, built by the sage Li Chengmei in the early Tang Dynasty." The meaning of "Gantong" is explained as, "There is no city in the world that is not connected, and there is no connection without feeling... If you don't understand the truth, you can't feel it... If you feel it, you will be connected." 🌈By the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, a total of 36 temples and nunneries had been built. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, the temples and nunneries had been destroyed. When the temple was rebuilt in the early Qing Dynasty, it was moved to its present location. Today, there is one temple and one nunnery (Dayun Hall and Jizhao Hall). The temple has seven steles that record the rise and fall of the temple. #Cable car I spent more than two days in Dali this year and arranged a trip to Dali Cangshan. As we were in a hurry and had to return to Kunming in the afternoon, we decided to take the cable car up and down the Cangshan Mountain to avoid missing the high-speed train in the afternoon. There are currently three cableways in Cangshan, which are connected by a Jade Belt Cloud Travel Road. After some research, I finally chose the Gantong Cableway in Cangshan to take the cable car. 🏔First arrive at Cangshan Geopark, enter through the gate, climb a short flight of stairs to the boarding point, and start queuing. Since we arrived early, there weren't too many people there, so we didn't have to wait in line for long before getting on the cable car. The view on the cable car is great. Looking up, you can see the Cangshan Mountain which is so close, with the snow on the top of the mountain that never melts. Looking down, you can overlook the blue Erhai Lake and the nearby villages and towns. The beautiful scenery of Dali is right before your eyes! After arriving at the pick-up point on the mountain, you can get off the bus and explore the mountain on your own. We walked up a short distance, passing Hougu Coffee and Gantong Tea House. Unfortunately, the Gantong Tea House was not open yet, so we couldn’t experience the fun of drinking tea in the mountains. In the end, we bought a cup of coffee in Hougu and sat for a while. On the way back, we took the downhill section of the cable car and returned to the initial boarding point. We stayed in the Gantong area. It was very close to take a taxi to the Gantong Cableway (walking would take 2km, all uphill). We arrived around eight or nine o'clock. At this time, there was no need to queue for the cableway. By the time we came down at around 11 o'clock, there were quite a few people in line. This was the last half day in Dali. We had to catch a train later, so we didn't spend much time up there. We took the cableway up. Seeing the sign in picture four, we turned left towards Qingbi Stream and made a loop, where there was a large chessboard. At a place with a sign indicating that going up would lead to a viewing platform, we walked up a bit. On a small platform with a fire equipment box, we saw a few squirrels. The child happened to have a steamed bun in hand, and although there was a sign in the scenic area saying not to feed the animals, we couldn't resist and fed them for a while. Then we headed back towards the cableway. If time permits, you can continue along Yudai Road to Zhonghe Temple to descend, which is said to take four to five hours. Dali's Fenghuaxueyue means "Xiaguan Wind, Shangguan Flowers, Cangshan Snow and Erhai Moon". The highest peak of Cangshan, Malong Peak, is 4,122 meters above sea level and is covered with snow all year round. Visiting Cangshan Mountain in Dali, the Gantong cableway is the shortest among the three cableways.
