I've been out of Beijing and in the land of Yan Zhao for several days now, wandering through the ancient cities and relics in the long river of history. Today, I returned to reality and took a tour around the mountains and waters near Handan, including the eastern Taihang Mountains and Jingniang Lake scenic area. The eastern Taihang Mountains and Jingniang Lake are not far from each other, both located within the territory of Wu'an City in Handan. The eastern Taihang Mountains are named for their location on the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountain range and share the Danxia landform with the Grand Canyon in the United States. The slopes on the east and west sides of this area are relatively gentle, while the north and south are steep. The mountain ridge rises from south to north, with the peak of Sengshan on the north side reaching an altitude of 1428.2 meters. Streams on both sides flow down the mountain, embracing each other and converging into Jingniang Lake. Jingniang Lake, also known as the Koushang Reservoir, is known as the 'Three Gorges of Taihang' and the 'Heavenly Pool of North China'. According to historical records, the story of Zhao Kuangyin sending Jingniang a thousand miles took place in this area, hence the name. The scenic area is connected to Xianling Gorge in the east and Jingniang Gorge in the west, where two clear streams flow like a beautiful 'person' standing upside down, forming a high gorge and a flat lake!
