After the park was built, its influence expanded, and it was renamed Jinan Park. After Mr. Sun Yat-sen passed away in 1925, the park was renamed Zhongshan Park. A few years later, when the Japanese invaders occupied Jinan and caused the shocking May 30th Massacre, the park was renamed May 30th Park in protest. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was renamed People's Park, and it wasn't until the 120th anniversary of Mr. Sun Yat-sen's birth that it was renamed Zhongshan Park again. Incidentally, Jing San Road at the north gate of the park is still an old street in Jinan with a strong artistic atmosphere. The old book and antique market inside Zhongshan Park is also a gathering place for cultural people. Both the vulgar and the elegant can be found here. Over a century, new buildings have replaced old ruins, and the walls and tiles have become mottled in the wind and rain. Many stories and anecdotes have been lost in time. These changes tell us what Jinan looked like yesterday, what has undergone earth-shaking changes, and how the heritage has been passed down from generation to generation.
