Historic buildings
Located on the west side of Changsheng Street in Zhengding, it was formerly known as Jingguan Temple. Tang Kaiyuan twenty-six years (738) Fengzhu changed its name to this. Existing buildings are in a distinct Tang Dynasty style. Different from the layout of other temples, Kaiyuan Temple does not adopt a symmetrical layout, but the tower and the bell tower stand side by side. In the late Qing Dynasty, due to long disrepair, the monastery was destroyed, only the Bell Tower and the Sumeru Pagoda remained. Bell Tower: An older wooden bell tower in Hebei, and an earlier one in the northern era. There is a bronze bell hanging on the bell tower, 2.9 meters high, 1.56 meters in diameter and 15 cm in thickness. It is a relic of the Tang Dynasty. The clock tower is a two-story pavilion-style building with a brick and wood structure, with a square plan. It has three rooms in width and depth, with a construction area of 135 square meters. The single-eaved Xieshan Mountain is covered with green tiles and is 14 meters high. Its large wooden structure, column nets and bucket arches all show the architectural art style of the Tang Dynasty. Even a considerable part of the upper wooden components have maintained the original appearance of the Tang Dynasty. The bell tower is a two-story pavilion that can be climbed up, but the steps are really steep. On the second floor you can see the wooden structure of the roof and the big clock. There are also wind chimes hanging on the four corners of the eaves of the bell tower. Like several other temples in Zhengding, the tongues of the wind chimes here are also four-lobed heart-shaped, which is very beautiful.
