Though it's a bit tiring, the fatigue instantly vanishes when you see the azure sky, white clouds, and distant snow mountains. Airport buses and taxis are available to the city center. 🚌 If time allows and you want to enjoy the scenery, take a bus from Lijiang. The route offers beautiful views of alpine meadows and forest valleys, but prepare for a long journey. 🚕 Within the city, taxis and ride-hailing services are convenient. For attractions like Pudacuo, you can hire a private car for flexible stops. 🗺 Recommended Itinerary Day 1: Dukezong Old Town - Songzanlin Monastery Morning: Stroll through Dukezong Old Town, spin the world's largest prayer wheel for family blessings, and feel the town's tranquil atmosphere. Don't wash your hair or jump around on the first night. Buy an oxygen tank at the pharmacy in advance and go to the hospital for oxygen if you feel unwell. We went to the hospital for an hour of oxygen on the second day and felt much better! Don't forget to buy a ticket for Songzanlin Monastery! Go to the ticket office and buy a CNY 55 ticket, which includes a one-way ticket for the shuttle bus and the entrance ticket. When you go down the mountain, take Bus No. 3 next to the exit, which is faster than the shuttle bus! When you arrive at Songzanlin Monastery, don't listen to people who say you need to climb for another 20 minutes and waste money on a car. You can walk there in 10 minutes! Want to go to Napa Lake? We had an unforgettable horse-riding experience on this expansive plain. The dry, sunny weather kept the ground firm and not muddy, allowing us to gallop freely and feel a rare sense of liberation. Our friendly horse guide captured many photos and videos for us, preserving these precious memories. Along the way, we stopped at a small station offering Tibetan costume dressing and archery experiences at minimal charges, adding an authentic cultural touch to our adventure. This area is also a haven for birdwatching; however, the red-crowned cranes we hoped to see only arrive in winter. Despite this, we were delighted by other birds and a beautiful white yak named "Bei Bei," whose snowy-white coat was truly captivating. In August, the rainy season arrives as expected on the Yunnan Plateau. Sunshine and rain alternate, bringing vitality to nature. Driving with friends, Xiao Mazi took me to Shangri-La Napa Lake, where we stayed in a Tibetan-style manor nestled by the mountains and water. This place is tranquil and ancient, boasting the beautiful scenery of grasslands and lakes, quietly appreciating the uncompetitive beauty of Napa Lake... On the third floor of the courtyard, there is a 600-square-meter 'Tibetan Private Museum'... Here, you can admire the carving art of Tibetan craftsmen and the Tibetan-style fire pit and stove. You can also change into Tibetan clothes on-site and take photos in the solemn Tibetan-style architecture with a 100% photo success rate. Shangri-La is at an altitude of 3400m, belonging to the plateau area. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped with diffused oxygen supply, Rhodiola, and glucose, which are very suitable for people like me who suffer from altitude sickness. I recently had an incredible experience doing a photoshoot in Shangri-La City , wearing traditional Tibetan costume. We spent some time exploring the ancient city of Dukezong, visiting various Tibetan clothing shops before finally choosing one near our inn. If you’re planning a similar shoot, I recommend wandering around the ancient city to find a store you like and discussing your preferences directly with them.
We selected our costumes a day before the shoot and made a deposit. Initially, the shop owner mentioned we could only try two costumes, but eventually, she allowed us to try three. The total cost for the costume, including makeup and accessories, was a very reasonable 70 yuan, with no additional charges. We paid half the deposit and scheduled our makeup and hair appointment for 9 AM the next day. 
On the day of the shoot, after breakfast, we headed to the shop. The makeup and hair process took about 1 to 1.5 hours. I chose a colorful costume, and the Tibetan lady dressed me layer by layer, tightened my belt like a corset, applied red blush to my cheeks and nose, added some glitter, braided my hair, and finished with a beautiful hairpiece. They also had costumes for men, making it perfect for couples' photoshoots, often used for pre-wedding pictures. The shop offered the option to hire a professional photographer for 300-500 yuan, but we opted to take our own photos. Here are some of the fantastic locations we visited for our photoshoot:

This is the best-preserved and largest Tibetan residential group in China, offering numerous picturesque spots. 
📍The Napa Sea (Tears of Shangri-La)
Also known as Yila Grassland, this seasonal lake transforms dramatically between the rainy and dry seasons. Unfortunately, during our visit, the grass was dry, so we skipped it.

We turned on the projector in the room to watch TV series and movies, and it was so comfortable that we didn't want to move at all. In the evening, we ordered the food directly on WeChat, and it was ready in less than 20 minutes, so we could go directly to the restaurant to eat. One side of the restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can see the small scenery of the courtyard, and the other side offers you views of the blue sky, white clouds and snow-capped mountains. Just outside Diqing and south of the Yila prairie entrance is a small cottage cafe called 黑豆咖啡屋. It’s connected to a cottage style hotel and has many farm animals with horse riding as well. You can always dress up in the traditional attire and take pictures on/with a horse 🐎 or surrounded by yaks and other livestock. ✨Highlights: The main entrance is packed, hence 🚗driving around the lake was a better option for me. The views of the ⛰mountains and the mirror looking lake were breathtaking ❤️. I initially felt like i was going to resent my decision of driving past the main entrance filled with photographers, farmers and horses.
