Taipei|Yangmingshan Hydrangea Season Begins: A Month of Stunning Blooms
After cherry blossoms, azaleas, and calla lilies, Yangmingshan now welcomes the hydrangea season. This year, the hydrangea bloom runs from May 23 to June 22. If you're a fan of hydrangeas, don't miss this limited-time floral spectacle.
The hydrangea fields are located around Zhuzihu, with notable spots including Datiantian, Caojia, Gaojia, and Caifu. Each location offers its own unique charm, with entrance fees ranging from NT$100 to NT$200.
At Gaojia, the entrance fee is NT$200, which includes a NT$100 voucher for purchases within the park. This is one of the most popular flower fields, and the owner frequently updates the bloom status on their Facebook page. Walking paths are thoughtfully arranged between the flower fields, allowing visitors to take photos without disturbing one another.
The color of hydrangeas depends on the soil's pH level. Acidic soil produces blue or light blue flowers, while alkaline soil results in purple or red blooms. It's said that neutral soil can grow white hydrangeas, though pure white ones are rarely seen in the park. According to staff, only the central 3 cm of a hydrangea is the actual flower, while the beautiful outer parts are sepals. Nowadays, there are hundreds of hydrangea varieties available.
During the flower season, traffic restrictions are in place at Yangmingshan. Visitors are advised to take public transportation.
