Be sure to take the kids to Chongqing's 'Altay'
I've recently been deeply poisoned by 'My Altay'!
This weekend morning, we embarked on a spontaneous parent-child outdoor trip, coinciding with Tourism Day, so we decided to drive to Shanwangping Karst National Ecological Park.
🚗Traffic Information:
We set off from Nanping and arrived in 2 hours. We took the exit at Shanwangping highway junction, then wound our way up the mountain, which was quite easy even for a sedan;
🍜Food Recommendations:
It was past 11 o'clock when we arrived, so we chose to eat at the entrance of the scenic area (the price was not too expensive, and the taste was acceptable); not far from the entrance, there were some homestays that also offered meals. Since we had a 2-year-old child, we chose the nearest option;
⛰️Attractions and Activities:
As it was Tourism Day and admission was free, we walked a short distance into the scenic area and could choose to hike or take a sightseeing bus. Since we were with a child, we opted for the bus tour. The one-way ticket was 20, and the round trip was 30. The ride wasn't long, and the final stop was a stone forest. We didn't go far into the stone forest before turning back, as there were many steps up and down, which is not child-friendly. It's more suitable for older children to hike (personally, I don't think it's necessary);
Considerate TIPS:
We didn't spend much time in Shanwangping. It was very hot in the main city in the morning, but it had just finished raining there, and it was cold and foggy, with the ground being wet. I only brought a jacket and long pants for the child, and we adults were really too cold in short sleeves and shorts...
Here, I suggest that friends who go should check the weather and bring a coat!!
I personally think Shanwangping is more suitable for camping in July and August, and for viewing the scenery in autumn (not very playable for young children). However, the air on the mountain is really good and also suitable for taking photos. We left after a quick visit because it was too cold...
Local Must-Visit:
‼️Here comes the highlight‼️
From the entrance of Shanwangping scenic area, navigate to Gaofeng Temple, about a 15-minute drive. You'll go down from the main road to a small road, which is also easy for sedans to pass through, and then suddenly a grassland appears, with 🐮 and 🐑. The kids loved it, and they were very excited as soon as we parked. The weather improved, the sun came out, and it wasn't cold anymore! This place is free, probably belonging to the cattle and sheep of nearby villagers. However, remember to take your trash with you when you leave 🚮
❤️Strolling with Kids TIPS:
This place is really great for strolling with kids, with animals that children like, and it's very photogenic, Chongqing's own 'Altay'! (Remember to keep a distance from the animals when taking photos, and pay attention to safety)
We drove back home at 3 pm, just in time to catch dinner in the main city, and the child could also take a nap in the car. It's a highly recommended one-day trip for introducing children to the outdoors 👍
