Minibus No. 82 can be found at the junction of Siu Ho Street and Ching On Street. The minibus terminal is Pineapple Dam in Shing Mun Reservoir. If you just want to go to the main dam to take a card remember to get off the car facing the reservoir choose the right hand side direction, want to picnic to see the white millet grove to the left hand side will be faster. Hiking from Tsuen Wan to Sha Tin Even though we enjoying having friends around, we always make times for just the four of us. And we love hiking as a family. It is a bonding experience and allow us to exercise together. Hiking motivates kids to be active and teaches them to appreciate the nature. Family hike is usually on a Sunday. We started at Tsuen Wan’s Shing Mun Country Park. Once arrived at the starting point, turn right and continue walking on paved road (watch out for cars), it’s anti-clockwise along the reservoir. Walk along Wilson-trail sec 7, the reservoir is on your left, until you reach a T point where your left is a bridge. Take the stairs on your right towards the paved road, then turn left to continue walking. You will be crossing a bridge, and it marks the beginning of a more challenging hike. From the bridge, it’s mostly slopes, all the way towards the other hills to Shatin. After the first slope at a junction, there the only cubicle toilets. I suggest to take a break. There’s a signboard, continue walking towards Needles Hill. We will be taking the Shing Mun Forrest Track - Needle Hill sections. Heads up ! It’s all slopes again 😂 Keep in mind you’re going to Needles Hill direction, until you reach the pavilion with the sign “To Sha Tin Town”. Take the path next to the sign board, all the way until you reach the stairs. There’s 2 route at this point, one to Fotan and the other one to Shatin. Shing Mun Country Park An easy and relaxing walk along the Reservoir, a loop trail We kickstart our 2021 with a family activity involving picnic and hiking at Shing Mun Country Park. It is a simple and relatively easy hike with mostly paved road, and some slopes with max elevation of 250m. We decided to go for a loop along the shoreline of the dam. Average time: 3.5 hours Distance: approx 8 km Toilet: There are public toilets/ cubicles along the trail. Replenishing stations: No eateries or kiosks in the park, so bring your own snacks and drinks. Starting point at the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail, passing the Paperback Forest which offers beautiful sky-high treetops, emerging with wilson trail sec 7, heading to Shing Mun Reservoir Upper Dam, taking the Maclehose Trail Dec 7 towards bbq area sites, back on Shing Mun Road where you’ll see the full view of the dam, then follow the path that loops back to Pineapple Dam. 📍Alert: Lots of monkeys 🐒 and they are aggressive when see food/ plastics bags.
