Lake Chabot in California is a super chill secret place in the San Francisco Bay Area. The reservoir was built in 1869. It was originally the main source of water supply for East Bay residents. Now it has transformed into a natural tourist destination! This lake is hidden in the redwood forest. The water is as clear as a mirror, reflecting the blue sky and green trees. A casual shot will create a wallpaper-level beauty. The air is so fresh that I can feel my lungs being cleansed just by walking by the lake. It’s so healing! It used to be a practical facility, but now it has become a paradise for fishing, boating and hiking. On weekends, you can see locals bringing their dogs for a walk. The atmosphere is super chill!
Get the tour guide! Entering from Lake Chabot Regional Park, admission is free, but renting a boat or fishing gear will cost a little (starting from about $20). The lakeside trail is 9 miles long and takes 3-4 hours to walk at an easy pace. There are plenty of picnic spots along the way, so you can just bring a cup of coffee or a sandwich and relax for the whole day. Canoeing is very popular in the summer, and the view from the water is amazing. Winter is suitable for hiking and watching the foggy scenery. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent, as the insects near the lake are a bit fierce. Want to take fairy photos?
