#Cultural tourism This is a great place to collect cultures. Do you know that Udon Thani started with a group of Chinese people who immigrated and settled in Udon Thani? It is a new city, which is actually about 300 years old, but it is full of culture and traditions. For example, every year there will be traditions that walk all over the streets, such as the black mask lion opera or various parades. This makes Udon Thani full of signs that are Chinese symbols. Here, it will tell the history. Who said that it is recommended to come at least once because admission is free? 🕰️bOpening hours: 10:00-18:00

The Origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 is surrounded by various legends about the moon, but the most well-known is the legend of the goddess Chang'e. The story tells of the archer Hou Yi, who shot down nine of the ten suns, leaving only one. As a reward, the gods gave him an elixir that granted immortality and the ability to ascend to heaven. Hou Yi had a beautiful and mysterious wife named Chang'e. He never left her alone except when he went hunting. Before each journey, he entrusted the elixir to his wife. One day, while Hou Yi was out hunting, someone tried to steal the elixir. To protect it, Chang'e swallowed it, causing her to ascend to heaven and become the moon goddess. Another legend related to the moon is that the Chinese believe that if someone has a true soulmate, an old man on the moon will tie their ankles together with a red string, ensuring they find and stay in love. This belief leads single women to worship the old man on the moon.

Thai-Chinese Cultural Center, Udon Thani
The Thai-Chinese Cultural Center in Udon Thani is a recommended tourist destination in Udon Thani province. It was established with the aim of being a hub for preserving the art, culture, ancestral ways, and philosophy of the Thai-Chinese community in Udon Thani. The center is designed as a group of buildings, including:

🏢The Office Building
🗽A souvenir shop selling Chinese items and the Ping An Tea House 🏘selling drinks, tea, coffee, and bakery items.

Moral Museum in Udon Thani: A Glimpse into the History and Culture of Thai-Chinese, Perfect for a One-Hour Visit.
Udon Thani is a city near the border of Thailand and was the first stop for the first generation of Chinese immigrants to Thailand. The influence of Chinese culture can be felt throughout Udon Thani. This time, I recommend a museum that introduces the local Chinese culture in Udon Thani called the Moral Museum, located within the Udon Thani Benten Shrine.
All exhibits and informational displays in this museum are available in Thai, Chinese, and English, so there is no language barrier when visiting. The museum provides a comprehensive introduction to the history and development of the first generation of Chinese immigrants in Thailand, as well as Chinese festival culture and philosophical culture, including the life and stories of Confucius. It takes about an hour to tour the museum, and it is quite an interesting place. The museum does not require an entrance fee; you just need to register your name and phone number at the entrance.

Thai-Chinese Cultural Centre Discovering Culture & History of Chinese Community in Thailand
#museums #100waysoftravel
Did you know there's a hidden Chinese cultural gem in Udon Thani? The Thai-Chinese Cultural Centre I discovered recently was an incredible spot that you must visit if you wish to understand more about the existence of the Chinese community in Thai, specifically in Udon Thani.
As soon as you step through the gates, you're welcomed by stunning Chinese architecture and peaceful gardens and ponds with koi fish that set the tone for the experience ahead. Inside, you'll find fascinating exhibits that showcase traditional clothing, ancient scripts, old crafts and intricate calligraphy.
The center celebrates Chinese festivals like Chinese New Year, Mid Autumn Festival, traditional marriage and many more with vibrant displays. There's a huge mooncake replica as well as other interesting items on display.
To me, the Confucius Hall was a personal favourite—bringing the timeless wisdom of Confucius to life in a way that's truly inspiring. At first glance, who do you think the wax figure of Confucius looked like? Tips: a famous HK actor.
If you're in Udon Thani, make sure to visit the Thai-Chinese Cultural Centre, where culture, history, and spirituality come together in a beautiful and enriching way.

Udon Thani Thai-Chinese Cultural Center
Udon Thani Thai-Chinese Cultural Center is significant because Udon Thani is one of the cities with a large population of Thai-Chinese residents. It's not surprising that this city has gathered the history and origins of Thai and Chinese people in this place, at the "Thai-Chinese Cultural Center" located near the revered Grandfather and Grandmother Shrine. The center is built with beautiful Chinese architectural styles and bright colors. Besides the history of Chinese people in Udon Thani, the center also features rare plant species, a café, a tea shop with a variety of fine teas to taste, a 3D cinema showcasing stories of the Chinese in Udon, a souvenir shop, and a spot for renting stunning Chinese outfits for cosplay and photo sessions. It can be considered a modern museum in another form. For those looking for a place to visit in Udon Thani and don't want to travel far, this is the place to recommend.

Udon Thani | A treasure trove in northeastern Thailand worth exploring in depth.
In the travel destinations of Thailand, the northeast seems to be less noticed. Until one day, I, who was looking for off-the-beaten-path destinations, came to Udon Thani and felt pleasantly surprised.
When it comes to the development history of Udon Thani, it is closely related to war and has a lot to do with railways. During the Vietnam War, it provided support for the US Air Force base, accelerating the urban development process of Udon Thani. Perhaps due to this sentiment, there are many permanent European and American residents here, most of whom are elderly, and it is likely that this is their favorite retirement destination.
Explore this city carefully, and you will understand its charm. From the high-end shopping centers to the bustling markets, from the huge night markets to the ambiguous bar streets, both Chinese and overseas Chinese have their place here.
Tourists can find everything they want here, while the local pace of life remains unchanged. You won't feel any tourist atmosphere, and you can live comfortably like a Thai for a few days.
Experience sharing:
Arrival transportation:
1. Cars (take a bus from Bangkok or Chiang Rai, or take a business car directly from Lankawi)
2. Plane (Bangkok direct flight is the most convenient)
3. Train (Slow train at Bangkok's Hua Lamphong Station, a special experience traveling through the mountains)
Recommended local must-visit attractions:
1) Night market and bar street across from the train station: a colorful nightlife and an experience not to be missed.
2) Central Plaza Shopping Center: eat, drink, play, and have fun, similar to Wanda Plaza in China, also serving as a temporary transportation hub in front of the entrance.
3) Nong Prajak Public Park: an urban leisure park where you can see Thai people's daily leisure activities. There are restaurants, massage shops, museums, government agencies, etc. nearby. The small yellow ducks in the lake and the sunset are the highlights.
4) Thai-Chinese Cultural Center: showcasing the history of local Chinese (there are over 60,000 Chinese in Udon Thani) and traditional Chinese culture.
5) Banqing National Museum: The cultural relics unearthed from the Banqing archaeological site are mainly pottery, dating back to 4000 BC.
6) Honglian Lake: Once listed as one of the top ten wonders of the world by CNN, the lake is filled with blooming red lotus flowers, making for a magnificent sight while boating (located in Kunpawadi County, with the blooming season from December to February of the following year, with the most spectacular view before 10am).
7) Wat Pa Phu Kon: Beautiful and stunning reclining Buddha, charming night view of the mountain temple.
