Amazing natural stone bridge!! Truly beautiful.
During my trip to Chongqing, I visited Wulong Tiansheng Sanqiao! It was an incredibly stunning place. This is definitely a must-visit destination in your lifetime.
Famous as a filming location for Transformers and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it boasts magnificent grandeur. 👍🏻
Whether you love nature or not, I believe everyone will find satisfaction in this place!
I joined a one-day tour to visit, and although it takes about 3 hours from downtown Chongqing, it’s absolutely worth the time investment.

Nature’s Masterpiece in Stone: Exploring 天生三桥 in Wulong
#springitinerary #天生三桥 #ThreeNaturalBridges #WulongKarst #HiddenGemChina #UNESCOHeritage #ChongqingTravel #WulongScenery #NaturalWondersChina #CaveBridgeAdventure
As part of my spring itinerary in China, I explored 天生三桥 in Wulong, Chongqing — a stunning showcase of nature’s raw architecture. The site features three colossal natural limestone bridges (Tianlong, Qinglong, and Heilong), forming the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia.
The moment I descended into the gorge, I was struck by the sheer scale of the stone arches towering overhead — it felt like walking through the set of a fantasy film (which it was, actually — Transformers 4 was filmed here!).
Surrounded by cliffs, caves, waterfalls, and sinkholes, the atmosphere was serene and dramatic at the same time. A gentle mist hung in the air, adding an almost mystical quality to the experience. It’s not overly crowded, which makes it perfect for slow, peaceful exploration.
Travel Tips and How to Get There:
• Best time to visit: Spring (March–May) for pleasant temperatures and vibrant greenery.
• What to wear: Comfortable shoes with grip — there are steep steps and uneven paths.
• Bring: Water, light jacket, and a camera. Raincoat recommended if skies are cloudy.
• Fitness level: Moderate — there’s a lot of walking and stair climbing.
• Photography tip: Best wide-angle shots of the arches come from the base of Tianlong Bridge.
How to Get There:
• From Chongqing:
• By train: Take a high-speed train to Wulong Station, then transfer to a local tourist bus (~30 mins to the site).
• By car: Around 2.5 to 3 hours’ drive from Chongqing city center.
• Entrance fee: Includes access to the scenic area and shuttle service inside.
• Combine with: A visit to nearby attractions like Furong Cave or Longshuixia Fissure Gorge for a full day of nature adventures.

Nature’s Masterpiece: Exploring Wulong’s Three Natural Bridges 带娃打卡武隆天生三桥,原来大自然这么酷
Stepping into Wulong’s Three Natural Bridges feels like entering a hidden underground world crafted by nature itself. Towering stone arches stretch across the sky like gateways between heaven and earth, commanding awe and silence. Standing beneath them, we felt so tiny.
It wasn’t easy traveling with a child—this 4.8km trail tested both our stamina and patience. The weather was warm, and there were plenty of little meltdowns along the way.
Exhausting—but absolutely worth it.

April 21, 2025 Wulong Three Gorges Update.
I took the 9:20 train ticket I bought on trip.com from Chongqing to Wulong. Upon arrival at wulong station, make your way downstairs, once you pass the passport verification machine and exit. Go down the escalator at the lower level is a bus stop and a taxi stop. The taxi drivers there will try to ask for 80 yuan total for atleast two person to go to Wulong Karst visitor Center. Don’t do that, there is a bus Instead that takes you there for 10 yuan from 1000 to 1600 on the right side. If you don’t see a bus and don’t want to wait, go left and go outside, there is a sign that says online hailed cab. Call your didi for taxi there if you prefer it. It was around 60 yuan metered.
At Wulong karst visitor center, if you haven’t ate, I suggest you eat outside. Once you go inside past the metal detector head one floor down and there is a small shop that sells cup noodles and snacks or a coffee shop with minimal food. If you haven’t purchased tickets ahead of time, the ticket window is to the right. I had mine purchased from trip.com. I continued down one more flight and look at the lines that states which location you are going.
On the Bus with literally 10 people on a Monday, we departed at 13:00 from the center to the three gorges and arrived at 13:08 to the entrance. Enter through the turnstile with your passport and they will see how many tickets you purchased.
Bring a light jacket a poncho or an umbrella for unpredictable weather as well as water or snacks along the way. It was relatively hot, there were shades everywhere by the trees and that’s where a lot of people sheltered around. The crowd was light momentarily until 3-4 tour groups came by, there is a lot of walking involved that’s not too difficult. After a 5-10 minute walk, you’ll take the elevator down. Inside the elevator it doesn’t matter where you stand. It will spin so you can record as needed. At the lower level there is a restroom is and people with bamboo carriages willing to take you down the stairs. If you walk slowly and take your time, you won’t need to be carried down. If you get vertigo or dizzy from looking at the steps while going down, take a rest and stand there before continuing. The bamboo carriage ride down is about 200 yuan if you are feeling lazy. 😭
It started raining when I got to the end. From there you have the option of paying 15 yuan for an electric shuttle to the exit at the top which is recommended. The electric carts came every minute or so, fast line movement and 12 seats each cart going up. There are also steps that go up, all the way in the back of the ticket booth; that will take you about 30-45 minutes depending on your fitness physique, plus it was raining so it was not a good idea.
Afterwards you’ll arrive at the exit; passing through food stalls to take a shuttle which is listed for line 3,4,5 to take the big bus you took entering three gorges back to the visitor center. The buses arrived every 2 minutes. It was relatively quick: the line moved very fast.
I boarded the bus at 15:22 and got off 15:44; the returning bus ride was longer than entering. The returning drop off point for is behind the building the visitor center. I waited for 40 minutes at the drop off point for a didi to accept back to Wulong railway… I made a huge mistake by not calling ahead.. (gps signal isn’t that great for some reason when calling didi for pick up points sometimes) there were also touts at the exit point. The driver I encountered for a confirmed Didi ride wanted an extra 50 yuan separate payment (tip) on top of the didi trip 60 yuan. I reluctantly accepted after waiting for so long I just paid it. I did not want to wait anymore as that the next and last train was at 18:41. The 30 minute ride down to Wulong railway already made me miss the 17:02 train. Did not want to risk missing the last train back to Chongqing north.
I didn’t prebook the train ride as I expected to not make the train back for 5pm. What I did was kept tabs on the time to atleast make sure I made it back for the last train if needed. I bought tickets in person for 24.5 yuan back to Chongqing North at Wulong station. The last train to Chongqing north is 18:41 and it was running 9 minutes late. The Wulong railway is small so seats were hard to find inside. Once on the train there were assigned seats but it’s not same as the high speed one, this was a slower train compared to the high speed. It’s a 3-2 setup and they are facing each other. Seats were surprisingly wide enough to sit. Only issue is that everyone smokes at the connector by the train doors, so the smell travels through the entire car for the entire 2 hours duration back.

A day trip
A day trip to Wulong Karst area. I could only visit two sightseeing places in one day: Three Natural Bridges and Longshuixia Gap out of main four (didn’t get to Fairy Mountain and Furong cave).
How to get there:
- I took a train from Chongqing North Railway station (重庆北站) to Wulong, around 2 hours.
- After getting off train there is a bus station, everything is pretty straightforward so it’s hard to miss. Bus journey takes 30 minutes and brings you to the Wulong Karst visitor centre.
- There you can buy tickets to the sightseeing locations and move further. In my case, I took another bus that brought me to the Three Natural Bridges, which took around 7 minutes.
- Once there, it’s hard to miss the route, just follow the signs.

How to spend 5 days in Chongqing
🌟 **My 4-Day Trip in Chongqing: A City of Stairs, History & Pandas** 🌟
Chongqing is a city that moves at its own pace—laid-back yet full of hidden treasures. Be prepared for stair-filled walks and long journeys, but the adventure is absolutely worth it! 🚶♂️🏙
🛫 **Day 1: Arrival & Downtown Wonders**
Landed at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport from Shanghai Hongqiao and hopped on the subway to my hotel—Time Hotel. A bit far from downtown, but budget-friendly and super comfy!
Met up with a friend near Libiza Metro Station to catch a glimpse of the famous metro gliding through a building. Dinner at **Hongya Cave**, where I captured a stunning shot of the cave and Qianyu Gate Bridge. You must brave the crowds to cross the bridge, but trust me, the night view is worth every step!
📍Address:
🏮 **Day 2: A Stroll Through Time**
Explored **Ciqikou Ancient Town**, a preserved piece of Ming and Qing dynasty history. Walked through its charming streets and even visited the Mahjong Museum!
Then, off to **Chongqing Three Gorges Museum**, soaking in layers of history while enjoying a scenic overlook of the **People’s Assembly Hall**.
Ended the day with relaxation—a Thai massage inside a ginormous shopping mall, followed by dinner at a Singaporean restaurant.
🌿 **Day 3: Nature’s Majesty at Wulong**
An exciting day trip to **Wulong Three Natural Bridges**, known for its breathtaking stone arch bridges and the rotating escalator (yes, it’s a thing!). It was a long journey to the outskirts of the city, but witnessing these incredible natural formations made every second worthwhile.
🐼 **Day 4: Pandas & Tradition**
Visited **Chongqing Zoo**, where the adorable pandas stole my heart. Red pandas were a surprising highlight too—cute and playful!
Rounded off the day at **Hongya Cave** once again, but this time for something special—a traditional Chinese pictorial! Wore a Chinese outfit for the first time, and it was an unforgettable experience.
🌳 **Day 5: Reflection & Farewell**
A quiet morning walk around **Central Park** to contemplate before flying back to Shanghai.
🎭 **Final Thoughts:**
Chongqing is full of surprises, from historical gems to natural wonders, adorable pandas, and scenic night views. Definitely a trip to remember!

Chongqing, The Amazing Mountain City of China
#discoverchina #china #travel #chongqing
Day 1: Arrived Chongqing from Kuala Lumpur on 26 Feb 2025
We stayed at Lavande Hotel Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. This hotel offers free airport pickup even after midnight. We called the hotel using trip.com app using internet call as we don’t have a China mobile number. The hotel is about 20minutes away. We chose this hotel as it is near the airport. We had a good sleep and had breakfast at the hotel before taking the Didi to Jiefangbei.
Day 2: Check-in to Bindun Langyi Hotel, Jiefangbei
We chose this hotel for its good location. It is next to Linjiangmen Metro exit A2 Line 2. The hotel is on the 6th floor and it’s very clean and spacious. It comes with daily breakfast and it has a very good spread of yummy dishes. And they offer coffee which is quite rare in China. Next to the hotel building is a huge food court offering yummy Chongqing noodles, dumplings, rice etc. There are many restaurants here which you can explore here or walk to Bayi street nearby. It is a vibrant and lively area.
We found a friendly local guide who took us to Chaotianmen travel agency. We booked the night cruise along Yangtze River (140 yuan/pax). This night cruise is very popular and is a must try if you’re in Chongqing as the night scenery of the city is just amazing. We also booked 3 local day tours to Wulong Mountain, Huguang Guild and a city tour.
From Chaotianmen, you can walk up to the Red Bridge (Qiansimen) for a lovely view of the Yangtze River. Towards the end of the bridge, you can explore Xiaohaoli Old Street.
At night, we had a lovely cruise along the Yangtze River to capture all the lights around the city. Raffles City and Hongya Cave looked absolutely stunning. It was really worth it.
Day 3: We walked to the People’s Liberation Monument which is 5-10 minutes away and Kuixinglou which is 20 minutes away. This building is a must visit. We entered on what we thought was the ground floor but we were actually on 22nd floor.
After lunch, we took the Metro to Xiaoshizi to watch a performance at Huguang Guild. We were treated to tea while watching ancient dance during the emperor days, face changing performance and Chinese opera. We enjoyed the ancient theatre with unique architecture depicting the Qing Dynasty days. The performance was entertaining and rich in Chinese culture. There is also a museum here on its history of the early days.
At night, we decided to try Chongqing hot pot opposite Hongya Cave. We took the mix of non-spicy and less spicy soup. It was still too spicy for us hahaha. It was a good experience and we enjoyed it. We decided to walk on the Red Bridge again to capture the beauty of Hongya Cave close-up at night. It was worth squeezing through the crowd despite being a non-peak period.
Day 4: Local tour to Wulong Mountain (UNESCO site of Three Natural Bridges, Tiankeng Village & Wujiang Gallery). This tour is a must have. The place is breathtaking and you won’t regret it.

If you’re looking for a breathtaking adventure in Chongqing, Wulong’s Heaven Pit & Earth Crack (天坑地缝) is an absolute must-visit! 👍🏻
Descending into the 300m-deep Heaven Pit feels like stepping into a whole new world—misty cliffs 🏔️, cascading waterfalls 💦, and lush greenery 🍃 surround you at every turn. 🚩 Sightseeing Route
Ciqikou
Quaint shopping area. Buildings are beautiful and the vibe is great. Found a cute tea shop to sit and have some 🍵 and snacks.
Cons : shops are selling almost similar things. Nth much to shop
Fairy Mountain
Lucky to have snow and the kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Take the train all around the place to see other parts where there is lesser tourists.
Pro-tip: buy the sled before u reach the mountain. It’s sold out when we were at the shop.
Wulong karst
Super beautiful scenery but be warned it’s at least a 3hr hike. Although the hike is mainly downhill, may not be a good thing to slot this after the snow run at fairy mountain. The kids were tooooooooo tired.
Pro-tip: bring snacks to tempt the kids in walking a little bit more towards the exit 😅

We booked
We booked a one-day tour to Wulong Tiankeng on the Ctrip app. From the moment we were picked up at the hotel, the guide's humorous tour put us in a good mood. We were able to freely visit the natural wonders at the scenic spots, which made us marvel at them. In addition, it was a wrong time to travel, so there was no crowding. It was very relaxing and comfortable. This was a very good travel experience👍
