#Xi'an City Wall Ride Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Xi'an's Majestic City Wall!
Location: Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
Getting there: Take the subway line 2 to yong King men station. Get out at the city wall exit (clearly labelled inside the subway) and the entrance is two minutes away.
Entrance fee: 58 RMB per person.
The city wall is the most picturesque part of Xi'an. The wall is quite big and would take three hours to walk round. Fortunately you can rent a bicycle and do it in about an hour. Don't forget to stop off for photographs like I did. I recommend coming late afternoon and staying for sunset. Seeing the wall lit up with pink skies is a true wonder!

The City Wall of Xi'an
Xi'an City Wall
Getting there: Line 2 of the subway, yongningmen station.
Located in the centre of the city, the city wall of Xi'an runs for several kilometers. For an entry fee of around 58RMB, you can spend the entire day walking around it and enjoying the scenery.
Alternatively, you can pay a little extra and ride a bike around the wall to get fit.
Suggestion: you can enter via south, west and north gate. I recommend the south gate because you can enjoy the best views of Bell Tower.

Xi’an - City Wall Day and Night
Xi’an city wall did not disappoint. It’s super simple
to get there by taxi and equally as easy to book a ticket either using Wechat or the ticketing offices.
Once on the wall, you can choose to walk, cycle or take a shuttle bus. The wall itself is huge and the distance from start to finish is about 21km. I decided to cycle first (45rmb to rent a bike for 180 minutes) and then walk and it took me all afternoon. It was however, a very well spent afternoon taking in the beautiful views and learning a little more about Xi’an’s history. There are lots of places to get drinks and snacks along the way.
As I visited during the Chinese New Year holiday, I had the extra treat of observing a beautiful lantern festival on the wall. It cost 100RMB and was open from 18:00-23:00. It was extremely busy but wonderful to see.

New Year of Rabbit in Xi’an
One of the best views on New Year in Xi’an is on the city wall by Yongningmen 永宁门 subway station. You can walk on the wall or you can walk along the city wall and enjoy the scenery. There are two dragons right in front of the wall and many lanterns on the trees. You can get your own rabbit lantern like the one on second photo.
There are telescopes and you can observe the moon and the stars. Especially this I this year it is must see as you might find the rabbit 🐇 on the moon 🙃. Come Yongningmen and take the imaginary Hop to the moon 🌙. Happy New Year!

The Unforgettable Loop | Xi'an City Wall
#falltrip
The Xi'an City Wall, also known as the Xi'an City Fortifications, is a well-preserved ancient city wall that surrounds the historic core of Xi'an, a city in Shaanxi Province, China. The Xi'an City Wall dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), making it over 600 years old. It was built during the reign of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, as part of the city's defensive fortifications.
Currently The Xi'an City Wall stands as one of the most extensive and complete city walls in China. It encircles the ancient city center of Xi'an, forming a rectangle with a total length of approximately 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles). The wall stands at a height of about 12 meters (39 feet) and is 15 meters (49 feet) wide at its base. The wall features four main gates, one on each side of the rectangle: Changle Gate (east), Anding Gate (west), Yongning Gate (south), and Anyuan Gate (north). These gates have their own historical and architectural significance. In short, The Xi'an City Wall is not only a symbol of the city's historical significance but also a remarkable example of ancient Chinese engineering and architecture.

China’s Most Impressive Wall
Name: The City Wall of Xi’an
Location: Centre of Xi’an city in Shaanxi
The city wall is probably the best attraction inside the city of Xi’an. It takes about four hours to walk around the entire wall but you can do it in one hour when you rent a bike.
I love visiting this attraction on more than one occasion because the sky looks different. Try to come on a sunny day at sunset to enjoy the pink sky and it’s the ancient wall in the foreground.
From the wall you can look down into the ancient houses and see Bell Tower from a distance. Stunning history all around you.
