Shennong Mountain: A Magnificent Fusion of Myth and Nature
Visiting Shennong Mountain feels like stepping into a mythical realm. This mountain is renowned for Shennong, the ancient deity who tasted hundreds of herbs, and its mystery and grandeur have been passed down through the ages. The mountain's towering peaks and ridges create a stunning landscape that resembles an ink painting when viewed from the summit, with clouds and mist adding to the ethereal atmosphere. As you traverse the Shennong Grand Canyon, you'll encounter deep, perilous gorges and rugged rocks that twist like a giant dragon, showcasing the awe-inspiring craftsmanship of nature.
Shennong Mountain boasts rich vegetation and towering ancient trees, especially the thousand-year-old ginkgo trees that have witnessed the passage of history. The fresh air and rare plants encountered during the climb invigorate the spirit. The mountain also houses the Shennong Temple, a perfect place to honor the ancient sage and reflect on Shennong culture.
Standing at the peak of Shennong Mountain, the vast sea of clouds and the serpentine ridges create a majestic scene. Shennong Mountain is not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual cleansing. This sacred place, where myth and nature intertwine, offers a profound appreciation for the wonders of the world and the depth of life, making it an unforgettable journey.
Chaoyoji Temple.
Chaoyang Temple is located in Changhe Village, Changping Township, Qinyang City, Henan Province. It was built in the early Ming Dynasty and is also known as the Sanjiao Temple. It has been repaired in subsequent dynasties.
Chaoyang Temple currently has five main halls, worship halls and theater buildings. The main hall faces north and faces south. It is five rooms wide and one deep. It has a hard mountain gray tile roof and masonry walls. It was built in the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The worship hall is five rooms wide and one room deep, with stone pillars. There are Ming and Qing steles on the east side of the hall, and an iron bell of the Wanli year of the Ming Dynasty hangs under the eaves on the west side. The front is a theater building, five rooms wide, with an arched door in the south, two floors, a hard mountain gray tile roof, wooden pillars on the upper floor, eight-sided brick windows on both sides of the front wall, and gray brick paving. The east side hall in front of the mountain gate is three rooms wide and one room deep, with a hard mountain gray tile roof. The gables, front and rear eaves are all made of rubble, and there are double wooden doors.
This temple is a temple that combines Buddhism, Taoism and Baoism. It provides physical evidence for the study of the confluence culture of the three religions and has certain historical and artistic value.
On December 17, 2021, the Henan Provincial People's Government announced it as the eighth batch of cultural relics protection units.

Shennong Mountain is the most mysterious mountain in the world, full of myths and legends.
1. Tickets
It's the off-season now, and tickets are CNY 30. Children under 1.4 meters are half price.
!! Here's the important part! The ticket office and the scenic area are not in the same place, so after you buy your ticket, you must take the sightseeing bus to the entrance of the scenic area. The sightseeing bus is CNY 15 per person for a round-trip ticket.
After checking your ticket at the entrance of the scenic area, you will be asked if you want to take the sightseeing bus, which is CNY 10 per person. This bus takes you from the entrance of the scenic area to the foot of the mountain. You can decide whether to take this sightseeing bus or not. If you are young and strong, you don't need to take it, as it's just a short walk. If you have elderly people or children with you, you can consider taking it, but the scenery along the way will be greatly reduced. ② About the cable car
The cable car costs CNY 35 per person for a one-way ticket (uphill or downhill), and CNY 70 per person for a round-trip ticket.
? Here's a note on whether or not to take the cable car.
First, if you have someone in your group who is not physically fit, you can choose a round-trip cable car, because climbing up the mountain is really tiring, and going down the mountain is really hard on your knees.
Second, if you want to climb the Dragon Ridge Great Wall, you must take the cable car up! Otherwise, you won't be able to finish it! You can only look at it from a distance. Don't ask me why, I'm the one who tried to be brave! I was already exhausted when I got to Zijin Peak.
As for going down the mountain, I suggest you take the cable car, because going down the mountain is really hard on your knees, and there is also a different kind of beautiful scenery on the cable car, which is really nice.
The most surprising thing about this trip to Shennong Mountain was seeing the little monkeys. I had heard about the little monkeys on Shennong Mountain, but I didn't expect that wherever you go, a few of them will come out of the bushes, handrails, or even the steps you are walking on, waiting for you to feed them. 3. About the little monkeys, you can throw some food from a distance. They are quite well-behaved and won't come up to you directly, but don't get too close. I saw a monkey snatch a pack of instant noodles from a child's hand, which was a bit scary.
The peach blossoms on the mountain are in bloom, and the pine trees are green. Take advantage of the pleasant weather and go experience it.
Explore Huaiqing Mansion, stroll around Qin Yang Citywalk, and encounter many surprises!
The low-key treasure town of Qin Yang is a city full of historical charm, which is very suitable for a Citywalk.
Strolling around, I never thought I would encounter many surprises.
The unknown old buildings on the street, I don't know how many generations of people in this small city have accompanied? !
The Hanwen Gongci, which is almost covered by the shop sign, almost missed even the citywalk, and even many locals in Qin Yang did not know its existence and history.
The second brush of Qin Yang Beida Temple, which was missed last time because it was not open, has a distinctive architectural style, a perfect fusion of religious culture and art, and condenses the wisdom of many ancients.
The large salt shop under protection and repair carries the memory of Qin Yang's prosperous commerce and trade, and maybe next time it can go deeper into it.
Qin Yang, the former Huaiqing Mansion, a place of economic prosperity and cultural prosperity. The brilliant history of Huaiqing Mansion and the remaining cultural relics and monuments are worth a trip to Qin Yang for those who like to travel!
A museum without a museum, a treasure hidden in a small county town.
Qinyang is really a treasure city.
Qinyang Museum does not have a decent "museum", which is different from the museums I have visited.
Qinyang Museum is a small courtyard, which used to be Tianning Temple. The cultural relics are displayed in the corridor, either directly on both sides of the passage. Have you ever seen such a simple museum?
The displayed cultural relics include Tang, Ming, Qing... The most famous is the Three Saints Pagoda, which is a national protection unit. It is a brick tower, built in the Jin Dynasty, with a Tang-style appearance, 13 stories high, and is a landmark building in ancient Qinyang, with the words "Zhongtian Yizhu" written on it.
The treasure of Qinyang Museum is the ink treasure "Yanxiangguan Tie" by Luoyang Mengjin Wangduo, which is displayed under the corridor (for rubbing).
I didn't expect Qinyang to have so many cultural relics, many of which are well preserved, and the museum has a good view and is suitable for taking pictures and checking in. I have been here many times, whether it is the National Day holiday or the usual weekend, there are not many people every time, it is a treasure place without a sea of people, more surprises are waiting for you to discover!
Many people came during the National Day holiday, and I happened to meet Li Shangyin at Huaiqing Mansion.
During the National Day holiday, I revisited Huaiqing Mansion in Jiaozuo, Qinyang.
Qinyang, formerly known as Huaiqing Mansion, is not a big city, but it has many well-preserved ancient buildings and cultural relics.
It is only a few dozen kilometers away from Luoyang. I have been here several times before.
During the National Day holiday, tourists from other places all came to Luoyang for a tour. In order not to add to the congestion in Luoyang and to avoid the crowds, I chose to go to Qinyang.
I accidentally found that the former site of Qinhua Middle School was changed to Li Shangyin Memorial Hall.
Li Shangyin, an important figure in the poetry world, was originally from Qinyang, Jiaozuo. He has been to more than 50 major cities in his life. Luoyang, Zhengzhou, etc. are all places where he lived. I believe many people like his poems. It feels more suitable for cultural parent-child travel here, allowing children to understand history and familiarize themselves with Chinese culture while playing.
For a museum, go to a city, will you come to Qinyang to see Li Shangyin?
Jiaozuo Shennong Mountain is a low-key and unpretentious scenic spot
Building furnaces and refining elixirs. The peak is surrounded by purple clouds all year round, with golden light flowing, and is renowned both domestically and internationally along with the southern peak of Wudang. On the top of the Purple Gold Peak, there is also a stone pit about 1 meter long, wide, and deep, which is said to be the place where Fuxi listened to the wind and comprehended the Eight Trigrams. It is called the 'Eight Trigram Pit.'
The Dragon Ridge Great Wall, looking north from the Purple Gold Peak, is a steep mountain ridge that resembles a giant dragon winding and undulating, rushing into the layers of peaks of the Taihang Mountains. The limestone mountain body looks like an artificially built Great Wall, which geologists vividly call the 'Dragon Ridge Great Wall.' The highest altitude of the Dragon Ridge Great Wall is 1020 meters, with an overall length of about 11.5 kilometers, and currently, a 2.5-kilometer tour route has been developed. The Dragon Ridge Great Wall has five wonders: the wonder of the ridge, the wonder of the pine, the wonder of the stone, the wonder of the road, and the wonder of the scenery. Walking along the ridge, there are cliffs and deep valleys on both sides, with breathtaking views at every step, every pine, and every stone, making it the best scenery of Shennong Mountain. If climbing the Purple Gold Peak is for viewing the scenery from a height, then touring the Dragon Ridge Great Wall is for adventure and sightseeing, truly experiencing the feeling of 'infinite scenery at the perilous peak.'
Shennong Mountain—My "Adventure Chronicles"
Recently, I embarked on a journey to Shennong Mountain in Henan, thinking to myself: "The name sounds like a place where immortals reside, could it be that I'm about to become an immortal?" With such anticipation, I began my "celestial exploration".
As soon as I arrived at Shennong Mountain, I was captivated by the undulating mountain ranges. I felt as if I had entered a huge maze, unsure of which way to go. Suddenly, I slipped and nearly tumbled down the mountain. I quickly grabbed onto a tree, thinking to myself: "This is certainly not a good way to become an immortal!"
At Shennong Mountain, I also encountered a group of "mischievous" monkeys. They were hopping around in the forest, as if playing hide and seek. I took out a bag of snacks intending to feed them, but a little monkey snatched the bag from me and then smugly nibbled on it atop a tree. Watching its comical behavior, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Besides the monkeys, the caves of Shennong Mountain also left me in awe. As I walked into the cave, I felt like I had entered a mysterious underground world. The stalactites and stone waterfalls shone brightly under the lights, resembling a palace of gems. I also saw some strange stalagmites and stone curtains, their shapes bizarre and varied, reminding me of scenes from science fiction movies. I couldn't help but imagine: "If there really are immortals here, they must be living in these gem palaces!"
This trip to Shennong Mountain not only allowed me to experience the joy of "adventure" but also to engage in a "snatch battle" with the monkeys, and to visit a "palace of gems". Shennong Mountain, you truly are a place full of surprises and fun! I'm already looking forward to my next "adventurous encounter"!
Such a transformation in a dilapidated courtyard is astonishing!
Last year when I visited this place, it was all run-down houses with nothing to admire or enjoy. Coming back this year, I was surprised. Staying for a night allowed me to ponder and reminisce. What kind of visionary owner could have renovated such ruins so beautifully!
The countryside is a beautiful place, but it also requires passion and aesthetic sense to achieve this, preserving its historical and cultural traces while renovating.
The courtyard has an ancient charm, and the interior is stylish. I really enjoy this unique experience!
This little courtyard is so charming!
I stumbled upon a small courtyard where many old objects are displayed, and the whole yard seems like a serene ink painting!
❤️ Here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, golden sunlight sprinkles on the thatched roofs, accompanied by birdsong and the sound of water, smelling the scent of years emanating from the ancient wood. Every stone and tile here tells a story of the past, ❤️ I can't help but exclaim: Life in the mountains is too beautiful!
✅ Recommended for those who love photography, adore the ancient style, and enjoy tranquility to stay here for a night, it will definitely refresh your spirit!

Reverse Travel Guide to Jiaozuo
☀️ Yuntai Mountain
Yuntai Mountain, one of the most famous mountains in Henan Province besides Mount Laojun, is located in Xiuwu County, Jiaozuo. The main attractions include Red Stone Gorge, Zhuyu Peak, and the Tan Waterfall Gorge and Quan Waterfall Gorge. Tickets are valid for two days and include a scenic area shuttle transfer. It's a great place to cool off in the summer and view ice formations in the winter, and I think it's the best-equipped commercial tourist area in the province.
🌈 Qingtian River
Located in Bo'ai County, Jiaozuo, it's a World Geopark and also part of the Taihang Mountain Nature Reserve. Viewing the autumn leaves is a major highlight. When visiting Qingtian River, you must take a boat ride; it's like floating on emerald waves, as if you are in a painting.
☁️ Shennong Mountain
Situated in Qinyang, Jiaozuo, it is said that the legendary Emperor Shennong identified grains and tasted herbs here, offering sacrifices to the heavens, hence the name Shennong Mountain. The Dragon Ridge Great Wall, a world geological wonder, is the most representative natural landscape of Shennong Mountain and is also a macaque sanctuary.
🌟 Qinglong Gorge
Qinglong Gorge and Fenglin Gorge are two major attractions independently located in the western area of Yuntai Mountain, both in Xiuwu County. Fenglin Gorge is within the Qinglong Gorge scenic area. Qinglong Gorge features a mountain cableway and multiple waterfalls suitable for hiking, trekking, and water play, while Fenglin Gorge has lakes and cableways ideal for sightseeing and enjoying the scenery.
☁️ Xieji Cantonese Snacks
A tiny shop, but incredibly delicious. It's always super crowded to the point where you have to eat on the roadside. Their honey-glazed char siu rice is their signature dish, so tasty you'll want to lick the plate clean, and not greasy at all!!
🌈 Mulinxuan Fresh Cut Lamb Clay Pot
This place isn't in Jiaozuo city center but in Xiuwu County town, yet the taste is absolutely exceptional. It's worth driving half an hour from Jiaozuo just to eat here!! Their lamb is visibly fresh, stewed on the spot. It's recommended to make a reservation in advance.
💧 Intestine Noodles
Near the East Second Ring, this noodle shop serves huge portions and the taste is also very good. The highlight is their tender duck heads, which are different from other places. They are soft and mushy, melting in your mouth. You definitely must try the duck heads!!
🌟 Wuzhi Hongxing Clay Pot Garden
Speaking of Jiaozuo's cuisine, how can we forget Wuzhi clay pots!! The clay pot from this shop on Chang'en Road tops my list. Pour on freshly fried hot chili segments, and the sizzling oil and aroma hit you right away~ It's simply intoxicating!!
💥 Dongji Roujiamo
This is also a delicacy from Xiuwu. Their roujiamo is completely different from what you eat elsewhere. Their meat is like braised meat, very tender and flavorful, incredibly fragrant and delicious, so good it'll make you cry.
Qinyang Museum
Qinyang Museum is a national third-level cultural relics museum, located on Tan Huaidong Road in Qinyang City, and was established on the former site of Tianning Temple. The museum currently covers an area of more than 10,600 square meters, with a building area of more than 2,000 square meters. Qinyang City Museum is centered around the Tianning Temple San Sheng Pagoda, a national-level cultural heritage site. Inside the museum, there is a garden, and within the 150-meter-long corridor of the Stone Garden, more than 200 pieces of stone carvings, calligraphy steles, and tombstones from various dynasties are displayed ('He Nei Stone Garden Stone Carving Art Exhibition'), ranging from the Han and Wei dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Shennong Cableway: The height difference is 528 meters, and the single journey takes 25 minutes. There are two cableways on Shennong Mountain. I took the two-person one, and there is another one that can seat four people. You can enjoy the scenery along the way.

Taihang Macaque: There are more than 3,000 wild Taihang macaques living here, belonging to 9 macaque groups. The largest group is in front of a shop selling food and drinks on the uphill cableway. The boss said that he would prepare some food for them every day. This group of macaques is also more afraid of him. If you want to see macaques, you might as well stay here for a while, ps wild macaques, pay attention to safety
Tips:
1. The transportation is inconvenient, and you can't get a car back to the city. You must make an appointment in advance. It is recommended to drive by yourself, which can save a lot of time.

Henan Shennong Mountain | Go to the place with wind
Shennong Mountain is located in Qinyang City, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. The reason why it is named Shennong Mountain is due to a myth - the Yan Emperor Shennong distinguished grains and tasted herbs, and set up an altar to worship the sky here.
The original place of the nationally famous "Four Great Huai Medicines" (Huai Yam, Huai Achyranthes, Huai Rehmannia, Huai Chrysanthemum), has the largest number and the most concentrated distribution of rare tree species Longlin Pine in the country. There are also more than 3,000 national second-class rare wild protected animals Taihang Macaques.
Shennong Mountain has a profound cultural heritage.
This scenic spot is already close to the edge of Jiaozuo, and it takes two and a half hours to drive to the destination. Navigate to this place. After walking a section of dirt road, I saw the gate of the scenic spot. The gate is quite grand, but the location is too biased.
🌟Highlights:
Steps→The steps in the scenic area are dense and steep, and the legs are soft at a glance. Preserve your strength, otherwise you will be too tired to come down halfway.
Cableway→It is recommended to take the cable car up. The space of the cable car is not large, like my body shape, at most two people can sit, small like a sparrow's stomach. There are also many rusty spots at the connection of the cable car, and it creaks when it turns.
Tour route:
1⃣Zijin Peak (commonly known as "North Peak", the main peak of Shennong Mountain, with an altitude of 1028 meters, towering and straight, standing proudly on the top of the mountains)
2⃣Longji Great Wall ("Zhongtian Jade Pillar", with an altitude of 1028 meters, the whole is about 11.5 kilometers long, currently can be visited to 2.5 kilometers)
3⃣Shennong Cableway (height difference 528 meters, one-way 25 minutes)
4⃣White Pine (the original place of wild pine, the largest number in the country)
5⃣Wild macaques→Little macaques can be seen everywhere. Some of them are in twos and threes, as if they are discussing which area's food is more delicious; some are fighting alone, maybe they have turned over a bowl of instant noodles that a tourist has not finished eating; in short, they are chattering, noisy and lively!

EXCELLENT HOTEL WITH RESONABLE PRICE
I just stayed 2 nights. Hotel was excellent. Reception was good. As an Indian little bit difficult to manage the language issue. Rooms are so spacious. Morning breakfast was so nice. Another general issue is that Indian Credit cards like VISA, MASTER CARD, RUPAY do not work in most of the places in China. Almost all the places they will accept UNOIN PAY cards only. If hotel expects Guests from all over the world, they should go for all the payment options. Rest are quit fully satisfied
