Ragusa travel guide and discussion

Ragusa superiore is the new town, where efficiency has pragmatically taken over the place from the church bourgeoisie in the name of transformation. But almost as if the tradition wanted to compensate for the renovations, the history of these places is told here through the MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO REGIONALE IBLEO. The museum occupies the first floor of the Palazzo Mediterraneo in via Natalelli. There are dedicated sections for the prehistoric period, Camarina, Sicilian archaic and classical dwellings, Hellenistic centres, and late Roman settlements. The stele dedicated to the Warrior of Castiglione, on display in the section of the Sicilian dwellings, is very interesting and valuable. It commemorates the soldier Pirrinoi who probably was a lookout for Castiglione on the Iblei Mountains, in order to protect Camarina city around the sixth century D.C. It is a bas relief on a single sheet of local limestone, depicting an armed warrior on horseback. The importance of this find lies in the incision in Greek characters in a Doric dialect, that makes us think about an indigenous character. Another interesting location is the beautiful CATHEDRAL SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA, which rises imposingly on the intersection of two main streets of Ragusa, Via Roma and Corso Italia. Its construction started on 1694 and its large roof terrace looks onto Piazza San Giovanni. The broad and lively façade is flanked by a massive bell tower topped with a spire, recently renovated. The interior has three naves, and the nineteenth-century chapels are decorated with fine stucco. RAGUSA INFERIORE OR IBLA The reconstruction works gave a lot of attention to this part of the city with the result of creating a one-of-a-kind place, thanks to the artist’s inspiration which, in the flowering baroque style, realized wonderful palaces and churches, built with the local stone. The architectural masterpieces built after the earthquake, together with all those of Noto Valley, since 2002 belong to the UNESCO World.#mynovgetaway #mynovgetaway#thanksgiving

I’m in Sicily next month with just a couple of golden hours to spare and don’t want to waste them chasing the wrong view. Think specific: the exact terrace, rock, rooftop or alley (like the Belvedere in Ragusa Ibla, the steps at Scala dei Turchi, or the Rocca above Cefalù). What’s the one place where your camera loved the light, and was it sunrise or sunset?

Who would have thought that inside the unassuming 1820 Pinzero private residence lies such a hidden gem of a hotel! From the moment you step through the door, every detail tells a story of noble heritage 🏨 A 4-star quality beyond expectations: · The current lady of the house, Raffaella, warmly shares the family’s royal connections ✨ (be sure to listen to the family stories! Precious items from the great-grandfather and the president & queen of Sicily are perfectly preserved) · The owner’s homemade breakfast is incredible! Promise me you’ll try the legendary apple pie 🍎 · The staff are more attentive than your own mom, even using Dyson vacuum cleaners (I’m impressed by this attention to detail) 🐾 A healing surprise: A gentle therapy dog who rides the elevator by itself! Who could resist the joy of petting a dog while admiring century-old antiques~ 📸 Photo tips: A 3-minute walk takes you straight to Ragusa Cathedral. The hotel’s spiral staircase and antique hall make for atmospheric shots. Remember to bring your camera and comfortable flats (the old house floors are a bit vintage) 💡 Fun fact: This residence blends Baroque and Art Deco styles, with royal secrets hidden in the decorative paintings~ I recommend ordering a glass of red wine on the terrace at dusk and listening to the lady of the house recount the dramatic changes in noble circles back then 🍷 After staying here, I instantly became an unofficial ambassador! When friends asked if I had booked the whole museum, I laughed

Modica is a hillside town that feels like it’s been poured out of a storybook — baroque churches (especially the absolutely gorgeous Duomo de San Giorgio!) stacked above winding lanes, all glowing honey-gold in the Sicilian sun. But let’s be honest: most people (me included 😋) come here for one thing… chocolate. The town is famous for its Aztec-inspired method of making chocolate, brought by the Spanish centuries ago. It’s grainy, rich, and utterly addictive. I popped into Cioccolato di Modica Sabadì Sabadì - Cioccolato di Modica and, honestly, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — worth every bite. Try the chilli-infused bar if you’re feeling brave 🌶️🍫. Between tastings, Modica’s steep stairways and dramatic views make wandering a joy. Climb to the Cathedral of San Giorgio for a view that’ll stop you in your tracks. Then reward yourself with… well, more chocolate. 🍫✨ This is Sicily’s sweet spot — literally. #mediterranean #modica #sicily #italy #churches

#FallHospitalityEvent Traditional Sicilian cuisine offers a harmonious blend of seafood and meat. Grilled sausages (Stigghiola) are a particularly beloved street food in Sicily. Made with lamb intestines and herbs, they're grilled over charcoal, creating a unique texture with a crispy exterior and a tender interior. Fresh shrimp and oysters, caught fresh off the Sicilian coast, can be enjoyed raw or with a squeeze of lemon juice to truly savor the seafood's natural flavor.

You can get there by train from Syracuse. The city has an unusual layout, with the city moving vertically from the high ground to the lower part. The upper part is the new town, and the lower part is the old town. Looking down from the upper part to the lower part is a magnificent sight. The square with the Cathedral of San Giorgio is the center of the lower old town. There are many narrow streets in the city, and it's like a maze. I think it's fun just to walk around the old streets. There are many charming churches in the city. I recommend wandering around the city and checking out the churches you come across. #EuropeTravel #Italy #Sicily #Ragusa

#Overseas Travel To visit the Baroque church, Duomo di San Giorgio, you have to climb a total of 254 steps. It was built in the 17th century and has been rebuilt after several earthquakes. The exterior is very elegant, in typical Baroque style. The altar inside the hall is magnificent, and on the marble floor, there is a sundial with the 12 zodiac signs. As one of the most prosperous cities in Sicily, Italy, the late Baroque architecture is perfectly represented here. On the day of going to Ragusa, the day was set off before the dawn, and the city just woke up when it arrived. From the train station of Xincheng, all the way to the highest point of the old city, Xiaochengmei can't wait to live here for a few more days. Before going to Ragusa, I thought that for a long time, it was enough here. I didn't expect any one lane, any building, let us stay for a long time! The regret of staying in Ragusa today can only be reserved for the next time!

The St. John's Cathedral (Royal Church) church is Gothic style, was built in the 14th century and is a UNESCO heritage. Rebuilt many times in history
