One of My Favourite Campsites in Raub
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Had a great camping experience at Desaweet Campsite, Raub. The campsite is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by nature.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since the nearest shop is quite far away, they can even help buy essentials like ice if needed, which was really convenient.
The toilets were decent and well maintained. There are also life jackets, tubes, and kayaks available for rent. If you’re interested in a kayaking trip, it’s best to book early so the staff can prepare everything in advance.
The river is great for relaxing, but the water can be quite fast in some areas and some of the rocks are sharp, so I recommend wearing water shoes or beach sandals to avoid hurting your feet.
Overall, a really enjoyable campsite with great facilities and excellent service. 10/10, would definitely come back again! 🏕️

Durian Stop on the Way to Kuantan 🇲🇾 Boss James Durian
During our journey to Kuantan, we noticed countless durian stalls lining the roadside. After all, Raub and Bentong are famously known for their durian plantations, so it’s almost impossible not to crave durian while driving through this route.
The more stalls we passed, the stronger the temptation became. We missed a few earlier on, but eventually spotted one that was easy to drive into with convenient parking — Boss James Durian — and decided to stop by.
They had several premium durian varieties available, but this time we decided to try one of their more affordable options, the Red Prawn. Ours cost around RM28. It wasn’t very big, but wow… it was incredibly satisfying. Rich, creamy, sweet with a mild bitterness — the kind of balance that makes a durian truly memorable.
The staff and the uncle there were also very friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a lovely roadside durian stop during our road trip. The only thing that could be improved would be the toilet facilities for a more comfortable overall experience.

Raub Durian
A visit to a Raub Musang King estate in Pahang is a deep dive into Malaysian culture, where the prized fruit-characterized by bright yellow, creamy,
bittersweet flesh--is celebrated as the "Hermès of
durians". Historically rooted in the 1980s via farmer Tan Lai Fook, this "King of Fruits" culture centers on community, with peak season gatherings overintensely flavorful,, top-tier cultivars.
It's fascinating to learn that this obsession is relatively young. While durian has always been a Malaysian staple, the specific Musang King (Raja Kunyit) originated when a farmer brought a branch from Gua Musang, Kelantan, to Raub in the 1980s for grafting. Now, these estates are part of a massive global export demand, particularly from China, which has shifted the local agricultural economy from oil palm back to the lucrative durian, as seen in many local Raub farms.

A wonderful experience in Wyndham Garden Shahzan Fraser's Hill, it's truly a dream come true!
Rainy Day Retreat at Fraser’s Hill 🌧️🦆🏞️
Escape to Bukit Fraser for a serene nature fix! Feed ducks and fish, row across tranquil waters, stroll vibrant gardens, and savor that cool hillside air—plus, all these gems are close enough for an easy walk from Shahzan Inn. It's pure chillax mode, even in cloudy drizzle!
🧭 Itinerary
Start your morning with a gentle hike up from your hotel to Allan's Water. Try duck and fish feeding—you’ll spot plenty of birds while enjoying the calming lake views. Boat riding is available, and the best spot for photos is beside the white railing, with misty pines framing the water (especially dreamy on a rainy day). Next, walk to Strawberry Farm & Edible Garden for a hands-on experience: pick strawberries, sample fresh fruit, and wander through beds of edible plants. Snap a shot by the green strawberry arches or against the pops of color from garden flowers. Both attractions are right by Strawberry Park, so everything’s super accessible on foot.
⏰ Tips
– Weather is pleasantly cool; a light raincoat and umbrella are best for those misty showers (your rainy day outfit pops in photos!).
– Bird activity at Allan’s Water peaks in early morning—bring some fruit for a fun feeding session.
– Avoid Friday midday for Allan’s Water (closed 12–2:45 PM).
– Footpaths get slippery in rain—wear sturdy shoes and watch for puddles.
– For quieter vibes, visit Strawberry Farm on weekdays before noon.

Blazers Hill
I took a day trip to Blazers Hill from Kuala Lumpur. It was about a two-hour drive one way.
Once I arrived on the hill, it was very cool, although some people might find it cold.
The area around the clock tower gave me a sense of history from the old British colonial era.
The lunch at Smokehouse, where I stopped off for lunch, not only served authentic food but also had a beautiful view. It made me feel like I was in England rather than Malaysia.
The food was also delicious, so I highly recommend it.

Frasers Hill Escape🌧️
Just had a vibes-filled escape to Bukit Fraser (Fraser’s Hill) and Raub, Malaysia—think Little England meets misty mountain chill 🏰🌧️ From iconic clock towers and British colonial streets to strawberry picking and birdsong in the jungle, this trip packs a punch for travellers who want peace and a dash of the unexpected.
Top Spots to Visit:
1. Fraser's Hill Landmark – 27600 Fraser's Hill, Pahang (open all day). Snap a pic against those white fences with a classic “English small town” feel—especially lovely under clouds and drizzle!
2. Clock Tower - Fraser’s Hill – 1919, Jalan Gap-Bukit Fraser (open all day). The Insta-worthy stone tower, surrounded by lush scenery, is an absolute must!
3. Strawberry Farm & Edible Garden – 2, Jln High Pines (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm, Sat–Sun 9am–6pm). Pluck fresh strawberries and nibble local herbs. I found the greenhouse extra cozy on a rainy afternoon.
4. Bird Interpretive Center – Bukit Fraser (10am-7pm daily). Chill and spot rare birds; the guides are super knowledgeable and friendly.
5. Allan’s Water @ Fraser's Hill – A tranquil lake for paddle boating and flower spotting—great for close-up nature shots 🌸.
6. Scott’s Pub & Restaurant – Jalan Gap. Settle in for hearty pub fare; try the chicken chop and relax indoors if rain rolls in.
Pro Tips:
Bring a raincoat or umbrella—the weather loves to switch up quickly here! The “Little England” streets are best enjoyed on foot, but driving gives you flexibility (just watch for narrow winding roads). Puncak Inn Apartments are centrally located, so you’re always near the action.
Getting Around:
Self-drive is best for comfort and flexibility, especially in rainy weather. Walking is great in Fraser’s Hill town itself.
Food Must-Try:
Don’t skip the scones/tea at local cafés, or the robust pub menu at Scott’s Pub & Restaurant on Jalan Gap!
Useful Info:
Cash is preferred in smaller family-run spots. Weather swings from sunny to misty fast—layer up!

Here’s a wild Malaysia adventure if you’re obsessed with durian—the king of fruits! 🌳☀️ Get ready for a deep dive into Raub’s legendary durian scene, with Musang King, Black Thorn, and D24 all on your tasting checklist.

What makes this trip epic? Wandering lush orchards under a sunny blue sky packed with hanging durians (bring your camera—the close-up nature shots are unreal!). A hands-on tour lets you sample right from the tree—if you love bold flavors and want the freshest possible durian, this is it. Don’t skip the Black Thorn tastings for an eye-opening flavor kick.
Pro Tips:
· Definitely pre-book your Raub tour with Trip.com for guaranteed slots during peak season.
· Wear old clothes: durian gets messy!
· Visit early before crowds build (and the tastiest durians run out).
· Buy sealed durians to bring home—Musang King makes the best gifts!
Getting Around:
Malaysia Airlines flies into Kuala Lumpur—Raub is about a 2-hour drive from KL. Grab a private car from the airport or use local bus services for budget options.

Many orchards offer fresh durian feasts on-site, plus local eats like roti canai and iced kopi at Raub town restaurants (look for warungs bakeries near the central market).

My First Glamping Experience in Raub, Pahang
Recently, I had the chance to try glamping for the first time in Raub, Pahang, and it was an experience I won’t forget! Unlike regular camping, glamping combines the thrill of being close to nature with the comfort of modern amenities—making it perfect for first-timers like me.
The site was surrounded by lush greenery, with hills and forests creating a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and the cool morning breeze was incredibly soothing. The glamping tents were cozy and well-equipped, offering all the comfort you could wish for, including comfy beds, proper lighting, and even a little porch to enjoy the view.
During the day, I explored the nearby nature trails and enjoyed some light outdoor activities. In the evening, sitting by the campfire under a starry sky made the experience magical. Sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and simply enjoying the serenity of the environment was truly special.
My first glamping trip in Raub was not only relaxing but also reminded me how wonderful it is to disconnect from the busy city life and connect with nature. I can’t wait to go glamping again!

1. The service is ok, and the crew is quite friendly and helpful.
2. The facilities are quite new, considering that it has a unique design of the British-style building, with many tourists visiting the hill town.
3. The breakfast provided in the hotel cafe (as buffet) is average because of its limited variety of food and beverages.
4. The location is strategically located on top of the central town area of the hill, whereby the mountainous scenery is astonishingly picturesque with fresh air and cold breezy weather.

Tiarasa Escapes Glamping Resort
This hotel has a unique exterior and interior design. The theme is very exhilarating, and all small efforts are made to satisfy the clients. Activities like bonfire, marshmallows, movie night, and small game equipment for children, and also the pool keep the clients entertained. The rooms, bathrooms, and common room in the tents are really modern and comfortable. The mixture of feelings of camping and being at home really sets this hotel apart from others. However, the "windows" of the tent, which are like mosquito screens, are not very adapted to the environment of this country as the unpredictable rain bounces off the ground outside and reaches the inside of the tent. Therefore, a wider porch roof would go a long way in preventing the inside of the tent from getting wet. In addition, the menu for lunch and dinner was very limited, and everything you ordered was spicy, even when on the menu it said it wouldn't be spicy. For breakfast, everyone had the same thing; there was no choice of food or drinks. The crew of the hotel were very helpful,l however struggled to understand English and didn't know the difference between different cutlery. On the other hand, the activities were well organised and very pleasant, for example, during the movie night popcorn and hot chocolate were served to everyone. Overall, I give this hotel a rating of 4.2 out of 5.
