Do you really think there are 5,000 dragons at Seitengū? In the suburbs of Sakado City, Saitama Prefecture, there is a Taoist temple called "Seitengū, where 5,000 dragons ascend," which is the largest Taiwanese Taoist temple in Japan. Why is there a Taiwanese temple here? It seemed mysterious, but apparently, in Taiwan, there is a custom where individuals build temples as a way to fulfill their prayers or express gratitude. This particular temple was also constructed by an individual who invited temple artisans from Taiwan, completing it over a span of 15 years. As the name suggests, there are indeed 5,000 dragons adorning the temple, making it overflow with dragon motifs. The yellow-based gate also features a Chinese architectural style that is rarely seen in Japan. The temple boasts intricate carvings, such as the "Nine Dragon Net" and "Nine Dragon Pillar," which are sculpted deeply and beautifully from single pieces of stone. The Taiji ceiling in the main hall represents the beginning of the universe, swirling to depict the balance of yin and yang. Speaking of yin and yang, there is a unique Taiwanese (Taoist?) fortune-telling method. Two wooden pieces, marked with yin and yang on their respective sides, are dropped to the ground. You can only draw a fortune if the pieces land showing both yin and yang. The abundance of dragons, the vibrant use of yellow, gold, and red in the buildings, combined with the clear blue sky on the day of my visit, made for an incredibly refreshing experience. With few visitors, it offers a taste of Taiwan while still being in Japan, making it highly recommended. Located just 3 minutes on foot from Mototsumiyoshi Station, this 2 km stretch along the Shibu River is lined with 250 cherry trees of the Somei-yoshino variety. It’s a beloved local sakura spot!🌸 The photos are from a previous year when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and the best time to visit is typically from late March to early April each year. Nearby Nakahara Heiwa Park is also a popular cherry blossom spot, where you can enjoy beautiful sakura views and lively events such as the cherry blossom festival.

The park has about 200 Angyo Kanzakura trees stretching over 1.2 km. They bloom earlier than Somei Yoshino, from early to mid-March, with pale pink flowers. Although it was a bit early, I spoke to some people who came for photography. They said that during peak bloom, it gets very crowded, and finding parking is tough. Taking photos without people in them is quite challenging. It was a bit early, but I was glad to take my time with the photos. I met someone walking their dog and got permission to take some photos. The cherry blossom festival has ended. This year, the blossoms are delayed, and currently, they are about 30% in bloom.

I went to Seitian Shrine in Saitama, where 5,000 dragons rise! Seitian Shrine is a shrine that enshrines the three highest gods in Taoism. The founder, Kang Kuon-tei Daihosho, was cured of an incurable disease by praying to these three gods, the "Sanqing Daozu," and wanted to build a shrine that would bring divine blessings to everyone. When he searched for a site, he was told to build it in this place in Japan. The shrine was built by top carpenters from Taiwan, and it looks just like the real thing! Kita-Asawa Sakura Tsutsumi Park in Saitama Prefecture is a secret spot for cherry blossom viewing in the Kanto region. It is not very famous, but has gradually become well-known in recent years due to the beautiful scenery of pale pink cherry trees that went viral on Instagram. The cherry trees in Kita-Asawa Sakura Tsutsumi Park grow along the Kobe River. The 1.2-kilometer-long cherry tree is composed of more than 200 Anxing Kanzakura trees. Anxing Kanzakura is actually Okanzakura. Because the local Okanzakura Originated from the Anxing area in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, the park was named Anxing Kanzakura for the purpose of publicity by the Tourism Bureau. The color of the Okan cherry blossoms is white with a hint of pink, elegant and tender. The endless cherry blossoms and trees are intoxicating. The photos taken can show the beautiful cherry blossoms without the need for beauty photos. There are fewer people and the park is open and spacious. Cafe Chocotty When I think of cafes that look good on Instagram, this is the first one that comes to mind. The jiggling cream animals are piled up in a bath of cappuccino! Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this was a cafe I would visit at least once a year. The only drawback is that it's a little far away and you have to drive. There's nothing to see nearby, and the only place to go is Kawagoe, which is a short drive away. So I use my days off just to go to this cafe, but I still think it's worth it! The menu and ordering method change every year, so it's best to check Instagram for the latest information. In recent years, you could only order one 3D latte art per group, not one per person. This may have changed this year (on weekdays?). Anyway, the super cute 3D latte art is a drink you should try at least once. By the way, it takes a long time to make, so I eat lunch while I wait. Also, if you order 3D latte art, you get a drink to keep you waiting. That kind of thoughtfulness is nice. "Keyaki" is located about a 5-minute walk from Kitasakado Station in Saitama Prefecture. It is an old-fashioned, classic building. It is a famous restaurant that is fully booked during lunch hours. The meat is very tender and delicious, and the seasoning goes well with rice. The yakiniku set meal is especially recommended. I wonder why the meat is so tender. It is a set meal that is hard to find. There is parking for about 20 cars, so it may be best to come by car. I hope this old-fashioned set meal restaurant will continue for a long time.
