This time, I took advantage of the sunny weekend and visited the famous restaurant in Sausalito, California, Salito’s Crab House & Prime Rib, with my friends to enjoy a sumptuous seafood feast. The restaurant is located on the waterfront of the Bay Area. When the weather is fine, you can sit in the outdoor seating area and enjoy the beautiful sea view while enjoying the food. The atmosphere is quite comfortable. We ordered several signature dishes this time, one of which is the Soft-Shell Crab Sandwich, which is served with golden fried crispy potato cubes and a small dish of tartar sauce. The visual effect of this dish is appetizing: the hamburger bun is baked soft and elastic, with a whole soft-shell crab fried crispy inside, and then topped with a lot of crispy shredded lettuce and sauce, with rich taste. Every bite can taste the delicious crab meat and the crispy skin, which is perfectly integrated with the sour aroma of tartar sauce. The potato cubes next to it are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and it is very satisfying to eat with the sauce. Another main course is the handmade Shrimp Tagliatelle. This dish may seem simple, but it is made with solid effort. The fresh shrimp is plump and chewy, paired with homemade lasagna, which is chewy and smooth, absorbing the seafood sauce, which is rich but not greasy. Parmesan cheese and chopped herbs are sprinkled on the surface to add flavor and aroma, making people unable to stop eating. Of course, how can you miss their classic oyster platter when you come to Salito’s? We ordered half a dozen oysters, which were served on the table with a very delicate presentation, accompanied by ice cubes, lemon slices, and homemade vinegar onion sauce and horseradish sauce. The oysters are fresh and tender, with a strong seafood flavor but not fishy. Squeeze some lemon juice to make it more refreshing, especially suitable for enjoying in the hot summer. Each one is handled very cleanly, without sand, and it is very safe to eat. Several different hot sauces and pepper salts are also provided on the table, such as the classic Tabasco and special hot sauce, so that those of us who like strong flavors can also adjust the flavor by ourselves. For drinks, we only ordered ice water. After all, the freshness of seafood itself is enough and does not need too much interference. 💞Recommendation reason: Overall, Salito’s Crab House & Prime Rib is satisfactory in terms of food quality, plating beauty, and service attitude. There are quite a few uphill sections on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, but the scenery is so beautiful that it doesn't feel that difficult if you enjoy the scenery. 3️⃣ Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge (Photos 8-10) The Golden Gate Bridge is divided into a bike path, a car path, and a pedestrian path, so you have to choose your path carefully. We had an amazing day riding e-bikes from Golden Gate Rides. Along with the bikes, they provided helmets, Velcro bands for our wide-legged pants (gotta stay stylish!), bike locks, water, and bananas, and even let us borrow a backpack. The bikes were easy to figure out, and we thoroughly enjoyed our ride down the Embarcadero, over the Golden Gate Bridge (the assist made uphill biking a breeze), and into Sausalito. Returning on the ferry with the bikes was also hassle-free. We’d absolutely rent from them again. Bigyn (hope I got his name right) was friendly and made sure our seats were adjusted for maximum comfort.

Golden Gate Bridge is a historic structure and iconic symbol of the United States. It can be viewed from various locations around the city, Alcatraz Island, and the bay. We opted to rent electric bikes and toured both the city and the bridge, cycling on the left side as we traveled from downtown San Francisco to Sausalito. The right side is exclusively designated for pedestrians. Nearby, the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point offers an information center with souvenirs, historical photos, and restrooms. Walking across the 2.7 km bridge takes considerable time, but with the aid of our electric bikes, we crossed to the other side and returned with ease.

One of my best birthdays, thanks to my hubby and Carlos Tenoreo, who works at the front desk and effortlessly seems to oversee the entire hotel. Service was outstanding. Carlos welcomed us warmly, explaining how to navigate the hotel, use the YMCA next door, and access the bikes. His enthusiasm is truly remarkable. The hotel is conveniently located across from Pier 14, with walkable access to restaurants, coffee shops, boat rides to Angel Island and Sausalito, buses, and even Waymo. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and the personalities of the other staff were equally delightful. Valet parking was a bit expensive at $72, but the morning coffee, fruit, and muffins, along with the evening wine, made up for it. Valet service was impressively quick! The hotel is such a fun and memorable experience. A heartfelt thanks to Carlos for being such a wonderful person.

On the bike ride back from Mill Valley, we made a pit stop at the charming Mediterranean-style coastal town of Sausalito. You won't find the hustle and bustle of the big city here—just endless yachts docked in the harbor, a refreshing ocean breeze, and a delightfully slow-paced seaside lifestyle. 🌴 Slow living in a coastal town (Pics 2-3): Parked the bikes by the pier and took in the view of palm trees and sailboat masts contrasting against the blue sky and white clouds. Just sitting on the wooden boardwalk, enjoying the breeze and resting my legs, made the fatigue from the ride instantly melt away. 🦪 A French seafood feast at Le Garage: Stopped by Le Garage, an industrial-style French bistro right on the waterfront. (Pic 4) Mussels Blanche (White wine mussels): Fresh, plump, and soaked in a rich, flavorful broth—absolutely delicious! (Pic 5) French baguette: Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Dipping it into the savory white wine mussel broth is a match made in heaven! (Pic 6) ⛵️ Endless sailboats in the harbor (Pics 1, 7-9): Took a post-meal stroll along the marina, where the boardwalk is lined with countless yachts and sailboats. With masts towering everywhere, every casual snap looks like a romantic California coast postcard. 🍔 A little regret at a landmark burger joint (Pic 10): Walked past the legendary local spot, Hamburgers (737 Bridgeway), and could smell the mouthwatering aroma of charbroiled burgers from a block away! Sadly, we were already stuffed from Le Garage, so it'll have to wait until next time~ 🌊 A traveler's two cents: Sausalito truly is a hidden gem in San Francisco's backyard. I recommend visiting Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, riding the famous Cable Cars, seeing the Painted Ladies and taking a trip to beautiful Sausalito. Challenger 3 is not just any boat — this 72-foot steel-hulled vessel once competed in the Global Challenge, navigating westward against the prevailing winds and currents in what’s often called “the world’s toughest race.” You can sense that rich history the moment you step onboard. Night watches, climbing the rig for halyard checks, and reading the sea gave me a level of confidence and humility that no day-sail could ever provide. The journey itself was extraordinary. After crossing open water, we navigated along the Norwegian coast, gliding through Lysefjord under dramatic cliffs like Pulpit Rock, passing roaring waterfalls, and visiting quaint little towns with sauna houses by the water — it reminded me so much of home in Sausalito, California. Arriving into Bergen's Vågen harbour, with the colourful Bryggen waterfront in view, was a moment I’ll never forget. This experience wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing crew. A heartfelt thanks to skipper Tony, and to Hugo, Bart, and Raj — your patience, encouragement, and steady support made every watch and challenge feel like sailing with family. I’m deeply grateful for that. What made this trip truly special is its connection to the Tall Ships Youth Trust, a charity that uses these vessels to inspire young people in the UK, helping them grow, take on challenges, and pursue their dreams at sea. Knowing my voyage helped fund such an incredible mission made every cold night watch worthwhile.
