The Taihang Mountains hide a fantastic, lesser-known spot for viewing red leaves: Fozhaoshan (also often called Fozhaoshan or Da'anshan). There are no commercial fees here—admission and parking are completely free. In autumn, the smoke trees turn the mountains vibrant red. With streams, ancient temples, and layered, colorful forests, the gentle slopes make it an easy hike for seniors and children alike. It is the perfect destination for a weekend escape from the city to breathe in some fresh air. Best time for autumn viewing: Mid-October–early November. Sunny noons offer the best light and shadows, making the red leaves look translucent and photogenic. 1. Essential travel tips 📍Address: Baizhuang Village, Cejing Township, Shahe City, Xingtai, Hebei | Jinshahe Fozhaoshan Scenic Area 💰Costs: Three free benefits | Free admission + free parking + free drinking water throughout the area, no forced consumption ⏰Open: Open all day. It is recommended to arrive before 8:30 AM to avoid crowds and head down the mountain after 3:30 PM to avoid traffic jams on the return trip. Altitude: Main peak is 906m. The temperature in the forest is 4–6°C lower than in the city, and the autumn wind is strong. Transportation guide 1. Driving (preferred) Navigate to "Jinshahe Fozhaoshan Scenic Area," take the Taihang Mountain Expressway and exit at Cejing Toll Station, then drive 6km to arrive. It takes 1 hour from Xingtai city, 1.2 hours from Handan, and 1.5 hours from Shijiazhuang. The mountain roads have many curves, so slow down and drive carefully. There is plenty of free parking, so no need to fight for a spot if you arrive early. There are tricycles available from the foot of the mountain to the entrance for 2 yuan/person, or it's just a 5-minute walk, choose as needed. 2. Public transport Xingtai city → Shahe Passenger Station → Rural bus to Cejing Township, then a 10-minute taxi ride to the scenic area. This takes a long time, so driving with friends is recommended. 2. Must-visit autumn photo spots (9:16 vertical orientation) 1. Zodiac Waterfall Plaza | Entrance photo spot The first stop after entering. Shallow streams and stone carvings create a scenic landscape. The autumn water is clear, and the shrubs on both banks are already turning red. Low-angle shots of red leaf reflections on the water are fresh and healing, suitable for full-body vertical portraits. 2. Red Leaf Plaza | Sea of red and yellow forest The core spot of the scenic area. Smoke trees and sumac trees interweave orange-red and golden colors. The fountain, paired with the colorful forest, makes for great eye-level or low-angle shots of the forest. There is a free water refill station here, perfect for a mid-hike break. 3. Red Leaf Corridor stone steps | Unmanned forest trail The main road up the mountain. The trail is lined with red leaves, and the sun shining through the branches creates a Tyndall effect. When it's not crowded, shoot the deep, ancient path covered in fallen leaves for a full forest atmosphere. The entire route is gentle and not tiring. 4. Mid-mountain blue cabin | Niche influencer spot A hidden spot halfway up the mountain. The blue and white cabin contrasts sharply with the red leaves on the mountain. It's easy to get atmospheric shots with a vertical composition, and there are very few tourists, so no need to queue. 5. Mountain top viewing platform | Panoramic Taihang colorful forest Reach the top to overlook the entire valley, with layers of red, orange, yellow, and green filling the hollows. The distant Taihang mountains stretch out. Use a wide-angle lens for panoramic shots. It is very easy to encounter a sea of clouds on sunny autumn mornings. 6. Fengluan Temple (Ancient Tang Dynasty temple) | Humanities autumn scenery An ancient temple at the foot of the mountain. Red walls and gray tiles are paired with a century-old locust tree in the courtyard. In autumn, fallen leaves cover the courtyard, making it quiet and secluded. It combines red leaves with ancient architecture, perfect for shooting in traditional-style outfits. The tomb of General Fan Zixia is nearby, so you can stop by to learn about the local history. 3. Complete one-day itinerary (suitable for short weekend trips) 8. 20 AM Depart, avoiding the morning rush on the highway 9. 30 AM Arrive at the scenic area, park the car, and take a tricycle to the entrance 9. 40 AM Take photos at the Zodiac Waterfall Plaza and warm up for the hike 10. 20 AM Visit Red Leaf Plaza and take a break with free water 10:50 AM Hike up the mountain along the Red Leaf Corridor, taking photos of the mid-mountain cabin along the way 12:00 PM Reach the top viewing platform and overlook the Taihang autumn scenery 12:40 PM Head down the mountain and have lunch at a local farmhouse restaurant 2. 00 PM Visit the ancient Fengluan Temple and browse the local produce stalls at the foot of the mountain 3. 00 PM Purchase local specialties like sour jujube cake and mountain walnuts 3. 30 PM Depart, avoiding the evening rush on the highway 4. Food & accommodation guide Mountain farmhouse food (affordable and generous portions) 1. Xingtai Daguo Cai (Big Pot Dish): Pork belly with seasonal vegetables, served with handmade pulled noodles. The best choice for warming up and refueling for hiking. 2. Farmhouse water-fried buns, corn porridge: Simple breakfast, local daily food. 3. Mountain snacks: Sour jujube cake, hawthorn, and coarse grain pancakes, made fresh. Accommodation suggestions Fozhaoshan is suitable for a one-day round trip, no need to stay overnight. If you need to stay: · Economy: Hotels in Shahe city, many choices, affordable. · Experience: Rural homestays in Cejing Township, farmhouse meals, quiet mountain nights. 5. Outfit & gear list (autumn exclusive) 1. Clothing: Thin windbreaker/knitted jacket, as it is windy on the mountain with a large temperature difference. Light white, khaki, or caramel-colored clothing matches the red leaves for photos; avoid red to prevent clashing. 2. Shoes: Non-slip sports shoes. The stone steps are slippery with fallen leaves; leather shoes and canvas shoes are not recommended. 3. Carry: Thermos (free purified water in the area), a small amount of snacks, knee pads (to save effort on long walks), sunglasses, sunscreen. 4. Photography: Wide-angle lens for panoramic colorful forest shots, telephoto lens for red leaf close-ups. 6. Blogger's tested tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Weekend crowds are huge during peak season. Weekdays offer double the experience, as it's quiet and easy to shoot. 2. Mountain roads have many curves. Do not park on the side of the road to take photos; use the official parking lot. 3. There are very few shops on the mountain. Bring snacks and tissues in advance. Bring only a small amount of trash down the mountain and protect the forest. 4. It is not recommended to climb on rainy days. The stone steps are slippery, and the red leaf colors look gray, so the photos won't look good. 5. Do not pick red leaves or wild fruits. Enjoy autumn civilly. Compare prices before buying mountain goods from village vendors.

Come on a Sunday to catch the markets; only on Sundays are both the East Market and West Market open at the same time. If you want to visit both in one go, choose Sunday. The old East Market and West Market sites were separated by just one road, but they have now been relocated entirely. 📍New East Market location: Shahe South 1 Leisure Plaza Market (140 meters west of the intersection of Changping G6 frontage road and Anjiqiao Road). It's about 500 meters north of the old location; just navigate to this name directly. After the relocation, there are more stalls and a wider variety of goods, including fruits, vegetables, snacks, daily necessities, flowers, birds, and pets. Parking is also much more convenient than before. ✨The East Market has a small animal viewing area where you can see camels, peacocks, and lambs—great for bringing kids. ⚠️The animal area has a strong odor, so we recommend wearing a mask. 🐱🐶Pet area tips: In the afternoon, as vendors get ready to close, there is more room to negotiate prices for cats and dogs, but finding one you really like is what matters most. 📅Market hours⏰ ▪️West Market: Wed, Fri, Sun 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (mainly groceries, snacks, and daily necessities) ▪️East Market: Tue, Sat, Sun 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (flowers, birds, pets, and animal viewing area) The market is full of local charm and life; you can easily spend half a day strolling around. 💡A quick tip: Vendors start packing up around 3:00 PM, so don't arrive too late.

After returning from the mountains, find a small shop and enjoy a drink with local dishes. Try Gushun wine or Xiaoxingtai wine from Xingtai. No need to drink heavily; just gather a few friends, a table of Xingzhou dishes, and a few glasses of wine. Chatting away as the evening breeze blows by—this is the perfect way to end your trip. The broth is made from beef and mutton bones, seasoned with over 20 spices including pepper, resulting in a thick, fresh, and spicy flavor with generous beef chunks. Have a bowl in the morning with fried dough fritters or pan-fried buns; the warmth of the pepper travels from your stomach to your head, waking you up instantly. Shan's, Li's, and Ding's are popular local spots, costing about CNY 8 a bowl. 🌊Taihang Danxia Lake, Millennium-Old Qinwang Legacy | Qinwang Lake Leisure Travel Guide In the mountains west of Shahe, Xingtai, a pool of clear blue water is embraced by red cliffs—this is Qinwang Lake✨. Originally named Dongshiling Reservoir, legend has it that Li Shimin, the Prince of Qin during the late Sui and early Tang dynasties, once stationed troops and fought here, leaving behind numerous legendary sites. With its Danxia peaks and vast blue waters reflecting each other, it is known as the "Little Three Gorges of the North." You can stroll around the lake, take a boat to enjoy the scenery, or explore historical sites. It is a great destination for a short weekend getaway in southern Hebei. Location: Mountainous area in the west of Shahe City, Xingtai Admission: Online booking for general admission often comes with discounts. Boat rides, the glass skywalk, camping, and other activities are charged separately. Concessions are available according to policy. Opening hours: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM) Transportation For self-driving, navigate to Qinwang Lake Scenic Area. It takes about an hour from downtown Xingtai, and parking is available at the scenic area. You can plan a Taihang self-driving route that connects Qinwang Lake, Wangnao Village, and Yintan Ancient Village for a one-day trip featuring both lake views and ancient villages. Public transport requires traveling to downtown Shahe first and then transferring to a rural bus. Since bus frequency is low, self-driving is recommended for a more convenient trip. Key Highlights Danxia Red Cliffs and Qinwang Gorge This is the most recognizable landscape of Qinwang Lake🌿. The lake is flanked by reddish-brown Danxia cliffs with towering, unique peaks. The rock faces have been eroded by wind and rain, creating intricate textures. The long, narrow Qinwang Gorge winds its way through, with cliffs facing each other on both sides, reminiscent of the grandeur of the Three Gorges. Unique rock formations like Lion Peak and Qinwang Lanhaifeng stand by the lake. As you boat through, the red cliffs and blue water create a stunning, picturesque view at every turn. Nine-Bend Plank Road A long, winding plank road stretches over the lake, twisting and turning, making it a popular landmark for photos🎑. Walking on the plank road, the lake is right beneath your feet, and the distant mountains unfold in layers. Especially at dusk, the sunset dyes the water a warm gold, and the evening glow reflects on the lake. The light and shadows are breathtaking, and many photography enthusiasts wait specifically for the sunset over the lake. Boat Tours To fully appreciate the landscape of Qinwang Lake, a boat tour is an excellent choice🌊. As the pleasure boat leaves the dock and travels through the canyons and bays, you can look up at the towering Danxia cliffs from the water. Unique peaks and caves invisible from the shore emerge one by one. Enjoy the lake breeze and watch the mountains slowly recede for an immersive experience of the lake and mountain scenery. Qinwang Historical Sites This landscape holds a prequel to the prosperous Tang Dynasty📜. Legend has it that Li Shimin set up camp here, leaving behind a series of place names and relics such as Qinwang Cave, Qinwang Village, the General's Platform, and Flag-Planting Hill. There is also the site of Qiquan Temple, said to have been supervised by Yuchi Jingde, with old steles and foundations hidden in the forest. Walking through the mountains, imagining the battles of a thousand years ago, the landscape takes on a profound historical atmosphere. Nanshan Peony Garden From April to May each year, alpine peonies bloom one after another on the hillsides🌸. Unlike plain peonies, these peonies bloom on the slopes of the Taihang Mountains, with the sea of flowers overlooking the lake. These alpine peonies have become a unique, limited-time spring landscape at Qinwang Lake. Lakeside Leisure Camping There is a camping area by the lake that is open, flat, and faces the lake. You don't need to travel far to the seaside to relax and unwind by a lake surrounded by mountains. Enjoy the lake breeze and gaze at the distant mountains—it's perfect for relaxing with friends, and families with children can also spend a leisurely time here. Nanshan Glass Skywalk A viewing walkway suspended on the outside of the cliff, with deep valleys and the vast lake beneath your feet. Standing high up, you can overlook the entire panoramic view of Qinwang Lake. The view is expansive. If you enjoy a mild thrill, you can check it out, but skipping it won't affect your main tour. Recommended Routes Leisurely Lake Loop: Scenic Area Entrance > Dam Observation Deck > Nine-Bend Plank Road > Lakeside Trail > Nanshan Observation Platform. The whole route takes about 2–3 hours. The slope is gentle, suitable for all ages, and focuses on lake views, photography, and walking. In-depth Landscape Route: Entrance > Dam > Nine-Bend Plank Road > Boat tour of Qinwang Gorge from the dock > Explore historical sites in the mountains. The whole route takes about 3–4 hours, covering both natural scenery and cultural history. If you have enough time, stay until dusk to wait for the sunset over the lake for the best lighting effects. Practical Tips 1. Parts of the lakeside plank road are close to the water. Be careful when it's windy and wear comfortable, non-slip shoes. 2. The temperature difference between day and night in the mountains is greater than in the city. It's windy by the lake, so bring a light jacket. 3. There are not many shops in the scenic area, so prepare drinking water in advance and don't forget sunscreen. 4. Enjoy peonies in spring, escape the heat in summer, and see red leaves reflecting on the lake in autumn. The scenery is unique in every season. 5. Boat tours are affected by wind and water levels. They may be suspended in windy weather, so check the weather before you go. 6. Protect the Danxia landform: do not climb the cliffs, do not carve on the rocks, and do not litter by the lake. A lake of clear water winds around red cliffs, and a mountain of stories recalls the Prince of Qin. Come to Qinwang Lake, escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and embark on a leisurely journey accompanied by lake views and history amidst the Taihang Mountains.

Autumn in Xingtai is hidden in the folds of the Taihang Mountains. When the smoke trees of Jiulong Gorge turn the cliffs red, when Luanxie's 800,000 ginkgo trees spread out like a golden carpet, and when the pink muhly grass at Dahuoquan looks like mist—this 3,000-year-old ancient city slowly unfolds in autumn. Here are 4 autumn destinations worth a special trip: ⛰️ Jiulong Gorge | "The First Wonder of Yan and Zhao," the most intense red in the Taihang Mountains Jiulong Gorge is Xingtai's most stunning autumn calling card. It is a national 4A-level scenic spot and a national geological park, and "Jiulong Autumn Colors" has been named one of the "New Eight Sights of Xingtai." The forest coverage rate is 78%, and the vegetation coverage rate is as high as 98.5%. In autumn, the smoke trees and five-lobed maples dress the mountains in colorful hues. Red Leaf Ridge is the highlight of Jiulong Gorge; standing high and looking down, the entire gorge is ignited by red leaves. Jiulong Gorge covers 64 square kilometers, with the main peak, Wangmao Mountain, at an altitude of 1,800 meters. It has four developed scenic areas: Wohu Mountain, Sanxing Mountain, Canglong Gorge, and Laolong Pool. Its high-drop waterfall groups, red sandstone gorges, and lush vegetation are known as a "natural textbook." In late autumn, over 800,000 ginkgo trees turn golden, attracting tourists from all over to wander among them. The Luanxie Ginkgo Scenic Area covers 4.11 square kilometers and receives 1.5 million visitors annually. This year, the scenic area added 1,000 free bicycles for tourists, and a 20 km bike track connects the ten-thousand-mu ginkgo forest. There are also 7 artificial lakes in the forest, such as Moon Lake and Taiji Lake, dotted with villas with red tiles and white walls. The negative oxygen ion content in the forest is over 3,000 per cubic centimeter, making it a true "natural oxygen bar." Best time: late October–early November Address: Luanxie Village, Baita Town, Shahe City Transport: Self-driving recommended Ticket: Free, cycling is free, some experience items charge extra ⛰️ Fozhao Mountain | A secret realm of red leaves in the Taihang Mountains, a hidden autumn spot for locals Relying on natural mountain forests, Baizhuang Village's Fozhao Mountain is famous for its late autumn red leaf landscape. Every year from mid-October–mid-November, the smoke trees covering the mountains are dyed fiery red by the autumn wind, creating a flowing oil painting. Photography enthusiasts linger here, capturing stunning images from every angle. At the foot of Fozhao Mountain is the traditional village of Baizhuang, listed in the China Traditional Village Directory in 2019. There is a shuttle bus at the village entrance for CNY 3 one way, which is convenient and affordable. Local specialties like Jinshahe waxy corn and sweet potatoes are popular souvenirs with great value. Heading west from Fozhao Mountain, you can explore the Xiajiagou Hanging Road on the way, with cliffs on one side and an abyss on the other, walking through it feels like strolling in the air on a cliff. Best time: mid-October–mid-November Address: Baizhuang Village, Cejing Township, Shahe City Transport: Self-driving recommended 🎨 Dahuoquan Park | An autumn kaleidoscope in the city center Dahuoquan is the "autumn kaleidoscope" of downtown Xingtai. In late autumn, the pink muhly grass renders a romantic pink ocean like smoke and mist, the towering ginkgo trees are fully golden, and the maples quietly turning red add the most colorful stroke to the painting. Various colors intertwine, distinct in layers yet harmonious. Tourists wander through, laughter and the quiet lake and mountain scenery complement each other, forming a vivid autumn park picture. Best time: late October–early November Address: Downtown Xingtai Transport: Accessible by bus Ticket: Free admission 💡 Travel Tips 1. Hide away in ancient villages just beginning to show their autumn colors, and steal a moment of leisure in places with few crowds and stunning scenery. 1. Matianling: No need to travel far to Inner Mongolia to encounter alpine meadows and wind turbine arrays Tired of the crowds at popular grasslands? Located about a 3.5-hour drive from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Matianling in Yuxian County (also known as "Little Tianshan") holds the lingering coolness of a 21°C summer. It's not overly commercialized, featuring only vast alpine meadows, white wind turbines spinning on the ridges, and larch forests dappled with light and shadow. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of Tyndall beams. We recommend hiking the B-route in the afternoon, watching the sunset over the wind turbines, staying overnight at a farmhouse (around CNY 100) or camping to watch the Milky Way, and summiting early the next morning to wait for the sunrise over the sea of clouds. Practical tips: The temperature difference between day and night in the mountains is extreme, so be sure to bring a light down jacket. There are no shops on the mountain, so bring your own food and drinks, and take all your trash with you. 2. Taihang Water Town: Sleep by the Yishui River and dream of a northern water town Just a 1.5-hour drive from Beijing, this ancient town surrounded by the Yishui River is at its best in September, when the summer heat has faded and the crowds have thinned. There's no hustle and bustle of social media influencers, just bluestone paths, warm-colored lanterns, and century-old workshops. Rent a small boat (CNY 30/hour) in the morning to enter the lake and watch the morning mist like gauze. In the afternoon, stroll through the traditional Twelve Workshops and try your hand at pressing a bottle of sesame oil. At night, when the lanterns are lit, the boardwalk offers the perfect spot to capture night views reminiscent of "Spirited Away." Accommodation options: We recommend Yishui Nuan Inn or Twelve Poems Inn. Open your window to see the mountains. The average price is CNY 200–400/night. Remember to book a room with a view in advance. 3. Wangnao Village: Step into a three-dimensional rock painting in the Taihang Mountains Hidden deep in the Taihang Mountains in Shahe City, Xingtai, this century-old stone village is built entirely of red stone blocks, layered along the mountain terrain, and is described as a three-dimensional rock painting. In September, as autumn begins to set in, the rustic stone houses look especially gentle under the warm sun. During the day, walk on the red stone paths, watch the intangible cultural heritage "Four-Piece Silk" weaving technique, and visit the site of the Anti-Japanese County Government. At night, warm yellow light strips light up the eaves of the stone houses, and there's even a Goldfish Alley with projected red carp swimming by, making it feel like a fairy tale world. There are also terraced flower fields and Red Maple Mountain nearby, so you can stay and take your time to experience it as the autumn colors deepen. 4. Shengfang Ancient Town: A living northern water town, listen to intangible cultural heritage ancient music Quieter than Tianjin and less crowded than Baoding, this northern water town hidden in Hebei has almost no traces of commercialization, and locals still go about their daily lives along the river. A must-visit is the century-old wooden ancient theater, where free Hebei Bangzi opera performances are often held on weekends in September. Spend CNY 10 to tour the Wang Family Courtyard and see the incredible brick carving details. The highlight: Wait by the river at 7:00 PM to listen to the intangible cultural heritage Nanyin concert performed spontaneously by locals, with the ancient music drifting along the river. Stay at a riverside homestay (about CNY 120/night) and fall asleep to the sound of flowing water and frogs at night. Don't forget to try the Shengfang meat pie, which costs CNY 20 per jin and is thin-skinned and juicy.

When the navigation showed 2 km remaining, signs for "China Love Mountain" already appeared on both sides of the road, and the car naturally slowed down. Outside the window was the typical Zhangshiyan landform of the Taihang Mountains, with layers of reddish-brown cliffs stacked up. At the foot of the mountain, a stream flowed along the road. I began to understand why the story of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl grew from here—this kind of place naturally fits a myth. After parking and entering the scenic area, I first passed through a pine forest. Among the trees was a large stone carved with the character "yuan" (fate). An elderly man sat nearby selling water, saying this character was a prop left from filming the TV drama "The Cowherd and Weaver Girl" and was left here afterward. Further ahead was the welcome plaza, where a sculpture group of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl stood on the lawn, with a whole green mountain as the backdrop. Walking along the canyon, the sound of water grew closer. The water in Bilian Pool was indeed clear, revealing stones and moss at the bottom. A sign by the pool read "Weaver Girl’s bathing place." Nearby, a mother squatted by the pool pointing to her daughter: "Look, this is where the Weaver Girl met the Cowherd." The little girl nodded seriously, her eyes showing a particularly pure sense of belief. I stood there watching for a while and suddenly felt that adults also need this kind of belief, even if only for a moment. When I reached the Magpie Bridge, the wind was strong, and the suspension bridge swayed slightly. The handrails were densely covered with love locks piled in several layers, some old and rusty, others still hanging with red ribbons. A young man was hanging a new lock while the girl beside him held up her phone to take pictures, murmuring, "Make sure you hang it securely so it doesn’t fall." On the way down, I passed Lover’s Valley, where potholes carved by the stream lined up one after another like a string of natural marks. The tour guide was telling a group of tourists this is called a "unique wonder of China," sculpted by flowing water over thousands of years.

🍁Encounter Stunning Autumn Scenery: The Ultimate Guide to Viewing Autumn Foliage at Fozhao Mountain! Girls! 👋 Now is the golden time to view autumn leaves, and I've recently discovered a hidden gem – Fozhao Mountain – a less-visited and beautiful spot. Today, I'm sharing this super-useful autumn viewing guide! 🍂Best Time to View Autumn Foliage at Fozhao Mountain The leaves at Fozhao Mountain generally begin to turn red from mid-October each year, with the best viewing period lasting until early November. When I went at the end of October, the mountains and fields were ablaze with color, like nature had spilled its palette, a vibrant and dazzling red. However, the color change of the leaves can be affected by the weather that year, so it's a good idea to call the scenic area before you go to ensure you arrive at the peak of the autumn foliage season. 🚗How to Get to Fozhao Mountain By Car 🚙 If you have a car, driving is definitely the most convenient option. Set your navigation to "Fozhaoshan Scenic Area." Driving from the city center takes approximately [X] hours. The scenery along the way is picturesque, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos. The autumn scenery is particularly charming, with golden rice paddies and swaying reeds creating a pleasant atmosphere. Public Transportation🚌 You can take a high-speed train or regular train to a nearby city and then transfer to a local bus to Fozhaoshan. However, bus services may be infrequent, so check the timetable in advance to avoid delays. While public transportation is slightly more inconvenient, it offers a unique travel experience. 🏞️Recommended Fozhaoshan Itinerary Relaxing Route🎈 If you don't want to be too tired, this route is perfect. After entering the scenic area, follow the gentle path to reach Red Leaf Valley. The dense and vibrant red leaves here create a fairytale-like atmosphere. You can stroll leisurely, take photos, and soak up the romance of autumn. Next, walk to the viewing platform. Standing there, you can overlook the entire valley, with the mountainsides ablaze with red leaves—a breathtaking sight that's hard to describe. The entire trip takes about 2-3 hours. Deep Exploration Route 🚶‍♂️ For those who enjoy a challenge, this route is recommended. Starting from the park entrance, you'll traverse a slightly challenging mountain path to reach the temple at the summit. During the climb, you'll be accompanied by the surrounding red leaves, and occasionally encounter squirrels, birds, and other small animals, adding to the enjoyment of the journey. Upon reaching the temple, you can rest and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Then, follow another path down the mountain, passing through a primeval forest with trees of various shapes and sizes, their red leaves shimmering golden in the sunlight. This route takes about 4-5 hours and allows you to fully appreciate the natural beauty of Fozhao Mountain. 🍱Food Recommendations There are many farmhouses near the scenic area; be sure to try the local specialties. For example, the farm-style stew uses homegrown vegetables, making it delicious and healthy; the whole roasted lamb is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with an irresistible aroma, perfect for a group meal together. The local wild mushrooms are also excellent, whether stir-fried or used in soups, they are unforgettable. 📸Photography Tips Time of Day ⏱️ The light is softer in the morning and evening, making these the best times for photos. In the morning, take advantage of the lingering mist to create a dreamlike effect; the sunset in the evening bathes the red leaves in a golden glow, making the photos even more vibrant. Props 🎁 Bring colorful scarves, hats, and other small props, which not only provide warmth but also add color to the photos. You can also prepare some snacks, such as candied hawthorns or roasted sweet potatoes, which add a touch of atmosphere to the photos. Shooting Angles📷 Besides the usual frontal shots, try shooting from a low angle upwards, using the red leaves and sky as a background to highlight the subject. You can also take close-up shots, such as dewdrops or veins on a red leaf, showcasing the subtle beauty of autumn. ⚠️Important Notes 1. The temperature difference between day and night at Fozhao Mountain is significant, so be sure to bring a warm coat to avoid catching a cold. 2. Some roads within the scenic area are quite rugged, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. 3. Protect the environment; do not litter, and keep this beautiful red leaf forest clean and tidy. My darlings, don't hesitate any longer! Take advantage of this stunning flower-viewing season and hurry to Fozhao Mountain for a romantic rendezvous with the red leaves🍁! We believe you will be captivated by the beauty here and create unforgettable autumn memories. This is Xingtai! A fiefdom from the Shang Dynasty 3500 years ago, its name still remains today. This small city in Hebei, nestled in the Taihang Mountains, has been a vital transportation hub since ancient times. But tourists? Almost none! Xingtai Grand Canyon: A Hidden Gem in the Taihang Mountains 📍Xingtai County, Xingtai City Entrance fee: 50 yuan, including the canyon, hiking trails, and cable car (50 yuan one way). Before going, I thought it was just an ordinary canyon, but when I got there, I realized—my goodness, this isn't a canyon, it's practically "Zhangjiajie deep in the Taihang Mountains"! The entire canyon stretches 18km, its narrowest point only wide enough for one person to pass. The sides are sheer red cliffs, and looking up, you can only see a sliver of sky. The most amazing thing is the "Huang Chao Palace," where, according to legend, Huang Chao sought refuge during his rebellion. The cave is bottomless and incredibly breathtaking. Yuquan Temple: A Thousand-Year-Old Temple 📍Xingtai City Free admission! Built in the Tang Dynasty, it has a history of over 1200 years. When I visited, it had just rained, and the entire temple was shrouded in mist. The distant mountains were faintly visible, and the ancient trees in front of the halls were carpeted with golden leaves—the Zen atmosphere was truly enchanting… There's an over 80-year-old monk in the temple who gets up at 4 a.m. every morning to sweep the grounds. When I arrived at 5 a.m., he was already sweeping—what a coincidence! Tianhe Mountain: The Site of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl Cultural Heritage 📍Xingtai City Entrance fee: 60 yuan. China's only scenic area themed around the "Cowherd and Weaver Girl" legend, featuring "Cowherd Village" and "Weaver Girl Temple" on the mountain. The day I went happened to be Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day), and the scenic area held a traditional Chinese wedding performance. The scene was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes, even though I'm single... Xingtai cuisine is representative of southern Hebei cuisine—simple and hearty: Xingtai potstickers: crispy on the bottom, large and juicy filling. Daokou roast chicken: a century-old brand, incredibly fresh to the bone. Lincheng whole fish feast: fish from mountain reservoirs, prepared in over ten different ways. Jiangshui rice noodles: sour, served with chili oil—delicious! Tianhe Mountain Villa (300-500 RMB/night): Mountain view room, the view from the window is stunning. Xingtai City Hotel (200 RMB/night): Great value for money. Grand Canyon Farmhouse (150 RMB/night): The owner's cooking is delicious. Temperature difference between day and night in the Taihang Mountains, bring a jacket. There's a lot of walking in the Grand Canyon, wear sneakers. Signal is poor on some mountain roads, have cash on hand. July-August is the rainy season, check the weather forecast first. Each person's budget: 500-800 RMB Xingtai is truly a place "low-key to the point of being invisible." It's not as famous as Wutai Mountain or Pingyao, but the grandeur of the Taihang Mountains, the tranquility of ancient temples, and the honesty of the Hebei people truly make you want to stay longer.

Jilin’s “most beautiful counties” are more than just scenic spots—they offer a unique borderland exoticism and raw natural energy. If you’ve visited two of them, you’re truly a seasoned traveler. Based on travel experiences in 2026, here are the 5 most distinctive counties, along with a solid guide to help you win big: 1. Yanbian · Antu County (The magical winter of Changbai Mountain) This is the gateway to the northern slope of Changbai Mountain. In 2026, high-speed rail makes it more accessible. · Must-do: Demon world rafting (winter rime), Edelweiss Alley in Erdaobaihe Town. · Food: Be sure to try iron pot stewed snow goose (local specialty) paired with glacier beer. · Itinerary: 2 days, stay at Crowne Plaza (with real hot springs), catch the first rafting session at 6 AM, then visit Tianchi Lake in the afternoon. 2. Baishan · Linjiang City (A harsh fairyland on the border) A small town on the China-North Korea border, more untouched than Dandong. · Must-do: Songling Snow Village (10 times more rustic than Snow Town), self-drive along the Yalu River to see North Korean military camps. · Hidden gem: Rent a bike in Weishahe Town and ride to “Jinyin Gorge” to see the ice cracks on the border river. · Itinerary: 1.5 days, stay at a riverside guesthouse, listen to North Korean broadcasts from across the river at night for full atmosphere. 3. Tonghua · Ji’an City (The autumn and summer of the Goguryeo Kingdom) A world cultural heritage site with a new digital museum exhibition hall opened in 2026. · Must-do: General’s tomb (the eastern pyramid), Wandushan Fortress, and vast fields of rapeseed flowers (July) or maple leaves (October) along the Yalu River. · Must-try food: Korean brazier hot pot (minimum 2 people) paired with rice wine. · Itinerary: 2 days, visit ancient sites in the morning, bike along the river in the afternoon, and watch the light show at “Big Guitar” Square in the evening. 4. Yanbian · Hunchun City (See three countries at a glance) At Fangchuan Scenic Area, from Longhu Pavilion you can see China, Russia, and North Korea simultaneously. · Must-do: Tumen River estuary (no navigation but stunning views), Quanhe border crossing. · Experience: A new Russian goods market opened in 2026, where purple-skinned candy and caviar are very affordable. · Itinerary: 1 day is enough. Remember to bring binoculars to see the Russia-North Korea railway bridge. 5. Jilin · Yongji County (A magical mix of meteorites and hot springs) Closest to Jilin City, known for “starry skies + hot springs.” · Must-do: Meteorite Museum (touch objects from outer space), Beidahu Ski Resort for off-season mountain biking. · Ultimate indulgence: Stay in a hot spring villa, soak in 104°F (40°C) springs while watching snow fall on pine branches. · Itinerary: 2 days, combine with a visit to Jilin City. · -- Winning travel tips for transportation: · Fastest route: Fly directly to Yanji, use it as a hub to charter a car to Antu (1.5h) and Hunchun (2h), and stop by Tumen border crossing on the way. · In-depth route: Fly to Tonghua, rent a car and drive south to Ji’an (2h), then head north along the river to Linjiang (3h). This stretch along border highway G331 is the most beautiful, with excellent road conditions in 2026. Pitfall warning: Don’t buy wild ginseng in Snow Village (mostly cultivated). In Hunchun’s Fangchuan, avoid the scenic area’s small train; driving yourself lets you park closer to Longhu Pavilion. Final reminder: Check no-fly zones before flying drones near the border, especially in Linjiang and Hunchun. Don’t shoot photos recklessly across the border. If you can only pick one, would you rather challenge “see three countries at a glance” in Hunchun or visit the “eastern pyramid” in Ji’an? Tell me your preference, and I’ll tailor a detailed hourly guide for food, lodging, and travel. 😊

If you want to avoid crowds and find a cool place to stay for two days this summer, the Taihang Mountains deep in Shahe, Hebei, hide many pristine spots. There’s no crowding like at popular attractions, the mountains and waters are beautiful, and the temperature is 5 to 6 degrees cooler than the city. Two days is just enough to explore the scenery and ancient villages. You can enjoy a comfortable trip for about 500 yuan per person. Day 1 Danxia cliffs and clear waters cool escape route Start the morning at Qinwang Lake, Shahe’s most iconic mountain and water attraction, named after Li Shimin stationed troops here long ago. The lake stretches for over ten miles, with red-brown Danxia cliffs on both sides, earning it the nickname “Little Three Gorges of Taihang.” It’s recommended to buy a combined ticket for admission and boat ride, costing just over 70 yuan. Take a painted boat slowly through the canyon to see cliffside rock carvings and natural caves. The breeze on your face is especially refreshing. The whole ride takes about 40 minutes. After disembarking, walk the wooden boardwalk around the lake. It’s flat and easy, and the best panoramic views are from the dam. If you’re feeling energetic, try the glass walkway section, suspended halfway up the mountain, offering a wide view of the lake. Parking at the entrance costs 10 yuan per day. Plan about four hours for this visit. For lunch, eat at a farmhouse near the scenic area. Order a big pot of mountain stew with homemade corn flatbread and a plate of cold wild vegetables. Around 30 yuan for a hearty meal. In the afternoon, head to Kongzhuang Grand Canyon. This spot is less developed and mostly visited by locals for water play. The creek flows down stone steps, forming several small waterfalls. The valley bottom is very cool, and walking in the creek water keeps you comfortable. As you go deeper, you’ll see a narrow sky slit where the cliffs squeeze together, creating beautiful light and shadow. The full loop takes about three hours with no backtracking. Wear non-slip shoes as the stones near the water can be slippery. Return to the city in the evening. A standard hotel room costs just over 100 yuan. For dinner, try local specialties. Yangrou Mitang is unique to Shahe—mountain goat meat slow-cooked with red millet, blending the aroma of rice and meat for a warm, filling dish. Also try buckwheat pancakes fried in donkey oil, crispy outside and tender inside, dipped in garlic sauce for an authentic Taihang mountain flavor. Day 2 Ancient village cliffside exploration route In the morning, head to Chaiguan Township and visit Wangnao Village. This stone village built halfway up the mountain is over 600 years old. All the houses are made of red-brown stone, stacked along the slope, earning it the nickname “Taihang Sichuan Village.” There’s no admission fee, so feel free to explore. The village retains original features like bluestone paths, stone courtyards, and tall stone buildings without over-commercialization. There are also wartime sites from the resistance period to learn about local history. Climb to the village lookout to see the whole village and distant terraced fields, lush green in summer and very photogenic. Spend about two hours here. For lunch, eat at a farmhouse in the village. The recommended dish is handmade noodles with stir-fried mountain chives and eggs, all homegrown and very homestyle. In the afternoon, visit the cliffside road by Xiagou Reservoir. This 500-meter-long road was hand-carved by villagers. It has windows cut at intervals to let in light. Walking through the tunnel, you can see the clear water and green mountains outside. It’s much less crowded than the famous cliffside roads. Walk along the reservoir edge where the water is so clear you can see the bottom. Sitting by the shore in summer and enjoying the breeze is very relaxing. This spot is completely free, but the road is narrow so be careful when passing others. Head back around 4 PM. On the way, pick up some local millet and walnuts as souvenirs. Tips It’s best to drive yourself. The attractions are close, but the mountain roads have many curves, so drive slowly. It’s cool in the mountains in the early morning and evening, so bring a light jacket. Try to avoid weekends for fewer crowds and a better experience.
