🏖️Overview: Yoro-dake is a rocky mountain with an elevation of 894m that looks like a suit of armor. This bowl-shaped plateau at the foot of Mt. Kameyama is one of the most famous spots in the Kansai region for Japanese silver grass. Many tourists visit in autumn when the ears of Japanese silver grass turn silvery. To easily enjoy the Soni Plateau, hike up the stepped trail to Kameyama Pass, then follow the ridge to the summit of Mt. Kameyama at an altitude of 849m and descend to the plateau. It takes about an hour to go around, but it is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes at least sneakers. The view from Kameyama Pass is wonderful. The gently sloping Soni Plateau spreads out below you with Okame Pond at the center, and behind it are mountains such as Byobuiwa, Sumizukayama, Kunimiyama, Kabutodake, and Yoroitake, which are lined up like a folding screen. If you have the time and energy, we recommend a round trip from Kameyama Pass via Nibonboso to Mt. Kuraizumi (altitude 1,037m). I gave up on the climb halfway through, but when I saw the view from the top in videos, it was so magnificent that I regretted not climbing. There are two parking lots at Soni Plateau: at the foot of the mountain (Farm Garden) and at the top of the mountain (Noguchi Parking Lot). It's probably about a 30-minute walk from the foot of the mountain. However, the Noguchi Parking Lot (800 yen), which is right next to the Japanese pampas grass, is quite strict in terms of structure and number of cars, and tends to be congested. Even at 3:00 p.m. on a weekday Monday, we still had to line up a little. If you're going out on the weekend, you should be prepared to bring lunch with you. Once you start lining up, there are very few places to make a U-turn to get to the parking lot, so there's nothing you can do... It was already congested around the Farm Garden. If it starts to get congested, it might be better to park and walk. (For some reason, the entrance to the upper parking lot is on the right and the exit is on the left, so the traffic lines cross, you pay at the entrance, and people from the parking lot cross, so it's not easy to move around 🥲 Parking fees do not accept large bills or cards) The power of the sun is amazing. ᐟ.ᐟ It gets even colder the moment the sun sets, so you can really feel it. The wind is cold even before then, but the temperature change is incomparable. Please make sure to dress warmly when you go out. Once you climb up to Soni Plateau, there is a toilet in the parking lot, but the only other thing there is a vending machine and a stall selling freshly baked kusamochi and konjac.
