A sustainable building for high level events
The Hawai’i Convention Center is one the most beautiful buildings I have ever been. It’s designed allows air flow from third floor to be distributed along the infrastructure to reduce the use of energy and maintain a fresh breeze along the meeting rooms and halls.
Located in Oahu, it is just few minutes away from Kalākaua street, main shopping/restaurants street in Waikiki. Building was built in 1998, but still looks quite cutting-edge. Along the building it’s possible to see art/cultural Hawaiian exhibits.
So far, I’ll say this is one of the most beautiful convention centers in the world. If you love architecture, this is a must visit in Oahu.

Dongfengyun Scenic Area, 📍Mile
The Art Museum located at Dongfengyun Scenic Area is a must see attraction while you are traveling to Kunming and is worth spending your afternoon exploring the area.
The museum expounds on the interpretation of earth, space and architecture by “Luo Xu”, the architecture is made of bricks laid in a geometry manner giving an illusion of wine bottles or red flames giving a unique art form full of postmodernist’s elements, as the real inspiration came from kaleidoscope Luo Xu used to play in his childhood.. Looking inside the dome, each window gives a certain shadow at different angels such as a kaleidoscope. 🔥🔥🔥
The scenic area is 1 hour away by train, taking it from Kunming Railway Station to Mile, but trains are every 2 hours so book a day in advance. As soon as you arrive at Mile Railway Station, you can easily get a taxi from outside costing 20th and a 10 minutes drive.
The ticket price is 60 rmb, it’s better to add on the transportation which is 20 rmb round trip, as the walk is quite long but then the scenery alongside is quite breathtaking.. 🔥🔥🔥
📍Dongfengyun Secenic Area / 1 hour train
🕰10:00 - 18:00
💰60 rmb adult, 20 rmb add transportation.

Paris brought to you…🗼🥖🥐
Can’t afford Paris? China has got this for you 😁
TianDuCheng, also known as Sky City/ Fake Paris is located in Hangzhou’s Linping district. Large scale replica of the French capital, the area also features some iconic Parisian sights such as the Eiffel Tower, the classic Haussmaann buildings and the Versailles Gardens!
The fountain, the architecture of the buildings, the landscape, the well-trimmed bushes and of course, the Eiffel Tower as back drop all in one are meant to give you those French vibes. There are some clothing shops, restaurants, convenience stores and very few tea shops. If you’re dreaming of a croissant 🥐 and ☕️ latte, Starbucks is pretty much the only option. The area isn’t as bustling as you’d expect. It was pretty calm and at times rather empty. It’s also a famous location for wedding pictures.
How to go ➡️ You can take a Taxi 🚕 from Linping metro 🚇 station. The ride is about 20-30 mins. Address: 天都城

A Historic Shanghai Cathedral
St. Ignatius Catholic Cathedral in Shanghai’s Xuhui District is a historic landmark and the current seat of the Bishop of Shanghai. Built in the early 1900s, it has survived many rather tumultuous episodes including wars and revolutions. Fun fact, the exterior was used in the opening scenes of Steven Spielberg's 1987 film Empire of the Sun. Spielberg used the church as a stand-in for the Anglican Holy Trinity Church in Shanghai, which is where J.G. Ballard, who penned the novel on which the film was based, attended school. The park opposite the cathedral has been newly renovated and is a lovely place for photos. #churchs #architecturalphotos

Breathtaking Architecture
Whether you are into architecture or not, you’ll love this place. It’s called the Phoenix International Media Center. Based on Chaoyang Park South Road. it costs 100RMB at the door or on dianping.
I was well received at the entrance by an English speaking host and given a tour around the building by an English speaking guy. He took me to all the photo spots in the building and helped me to take pictures. The host bought me a cup of coffee at the coffee shop inside. The whole building smells good and looks squeaky clean.

1251 Avenue Of The Americas
While many remain fixated on the fact that 1251 Avenue of the Americas, one of the tallest skyscrapers in New York City, is virtually erased from the city’s skyline - eclipsed by its two sister towers - another notable feature of the building is right at ground level. A sunken plaza with a larger two-tier pool and fountains faces Sixth Avenue, only adding to the building’s grandeur. Meticulously landscaped and lined with trees, flowers and other greenery, the urban oasis extends the width of the west side of the building. For passersby commuting to and from work on any given day, it serves as a momentary respite. For tourists, it’s a great spot to stop for a quick selfie.

Sunday stroll: Shaanxi South & Xinle Rds
For Sunday afternoon, nothing’s feels more joyful than walking around and explore new areas of the city. Streets around Xuhui are absolutely beautiful. So many trees and many old style architectural buildings that are considered cultural heritage, but only few belong to Shanghai’s Municipal Government (indicated with plaque).
Shaanxi South Rd is full of cute stores and tiny restaurants, that gives an impression of European style influence over traditional Chinese culture. On the other hand, Xinle Road is full of gorgeous little clothing shops that makes you feel in Paris. Many of these shops are vintage, very luxurious for an specific clientele.
If you are planning for a shopping 🛍 day, come to this area. Even if you decide not to buy anything, walking around this area during a summer afternoon was quite refreshing. Gave me time to admire the decoration, so different between each shop. If you continue your way, you will find Xiangyang park close by. And many cool restaurants.

Multichromatic faces of The Bund
If all roads lead to Rome, all roads in Shanghai downtown lead to The Bund. Anyone whose feet step over Shanghai should visit this area. Independently of your time gap. The Bund has an energy on its own, stays in your mind and wherever you are in Shanghai, you always find yourself looking for it. You can be in, under, nearby, from any direction you can admire a gorgeous colorful lights artwork from The Bund area’s buildings.
During the day, you can admire the building structure, including sightseeing these modern architectural designs, or go up to admire the whole city. During the night, it’s when The Bund gets magical. Buildings change colors every few seconds, mixing and jumping. Never ceases to amaze me. Light artwork shows happens everyday between 6pm and 10pm, with even more astounding artwork during special holidays.
This area is full of restaurants, shops, that go for very luxurious to traditional street shops. Even some discotheques. A good time assured.

Yuxue Qingcheng Snow Inn in Lijiang
Like the pictures show, this Inn has an antique ambience, cares a lot about each guest and has an amazing view of new city of Lijiang. Even the full view of Yulong mountain! Breakfast is included, rooms are big, shared areas are great. You don’t get much internet in the first floor but each room comes with its own WiFi. Also, almost every room varies, even if you book for same type of room.
Most hotels/inns inside Lijiang Old Town, you need to carry your luggage on your shoulders for a few meters uphill to reach your accommodation. You can also call them and they will carry your bags for you.
Manager doesn’t speak any English, yet she will invite you to share a tea (as good host she is), and will try to give you advices about your trip depending on your plans or the season. If you speak a little of Chinese, she will also give you cultural background about Lijiang and Yunnan over few cups of tea.
There are few restaurants around this inn, normally the cheap ones are those outside the old town. Few convenience stores are few steps away, and you can get food delivered directly to the inn.
Please, keep in mind many inns/hotels in the area don’t receive foreigners. You need to keep your passport with you at all times.

World Heritage ancient town of Lijiang
One of the most popular places in Yunnan is the Lijiang Old Town. This town is immense, surrounded by mountains, clustered by ethnic shops, music exhibitions, ancient art, temples, discotheques, and almost anything you can imagine. Every shop and landmark is special in its own way, so different from the next one. This town is chaotically beautiful.
If you are going to visit, be sure you have enough charge in your phone, your bags are not so heavy and you have good hiking shoes. For once, unless you are a local, this tiny streets and similar architecture of shops and roads will get you lost. Not joking, this town is a nice labyrinth to get lost, as you have so much to enjoy here. This includes many musical or dance performances out of nowhere you can find in any corner.
Keep in mind there are no bikes, cars or bicycles allowed inside. Also, Lijiang is famous for its silver and different minorities ethnic fabric you will find in shops. World Heritage island in Xiamen
The Gulangyu island, also known as Kulangsu, is a world cultural heritage site. This island concentrates a lot of history in its 2km, popularly referred to a fairytale island.
The three main settlements date from 1900s. Yanzaijiao keeps its ancient authenticity, dating from Qing dynasty, while Lu’erjiao has more European influence. While island has few residents, most inhabitants travel daily. This island is full of shops, inns, restaurants and souvenirs. A sea of people surrounded by water.
For short background, Xiamen and Kulangsu island were the main maritime sino-foreign key location for centuries, with huge development for this island. After WWII, Japanese soldiers occupied Jinmen island, with brought thousands of refugees to Kulangsu. Later, during Pacific war in 1941, Japanese troops occupied the island, restructured several areas, and imposed Japanese culture. Later the island was recovered for Chinese, leaving an amazing mixture of cultures, architecture and this odd environment around.
Bikes and cars are not allowed. Roads are very small and landscape can be very tiring. Although, there is so much to see and admire: architecture, temples, parks, gardens, beaches, shops inside old buildings.
Get there- Take a ferry from Xiamen’s Lun Du terminal.
⛴ Service hours: Everyday, available 24 hours. Takes around 8 minutes to reach the island, and ferry Can get very crowded.

A glimpse to an ancient salt town
There are three ancient salt towns in Yunnan. If you want to visit them, prepare for an odd experience to ancient China. Nuodeng, in Yunlong county, is a hidden gem for salt and tea. If you chose to visit, prepare for an out of ordinary walk (hike) within the Bai minority’s most important cultural and architectural heritage of Ming and Qing dynasties.
Nuodeng is over 2,000 years old, and was one of the richest salt town in ancient China as belong to the Tea Horse Road. Nuodeng was also center of old Salt/Tea road connecting Dali (160km east), Baoshan, Tengchong-Birman, and Lijiang-Tibet in the north.
Most of the structures are made from mud, while part of the town looks a bit ‘modern’, most houses are quite old. Roads are mainly dirt, with a few stone or pavement ones, so wear the right shoes to enjoy the architecture that has endured for centuries.
This town very traditional, inhabitants mostly speak local language, therefore basic Mandarin should be important to manage. Also, you get to see salt wells and meat drying like old times. This village might feel like a labyrinth, but you can enjoy your time and shopping to invest in local economy (very cheap).

Zijincheng: The Forbidden City
The Forbidden palace may be the world’s largest imperial palace, yet the palace seems so small when you navigate it among the sea of tourists you will encounter on your visit. Nevertheless, this should not stop you from visiting one of the biggest attractions in China that dates from Ming dynasty (completed in 1644).
The city is not only an amazing architectural complex, but has the most important Chinese heritage collection in artwork, artifacts and designs (from gardens to ancient buildings). Most of the buildings are made of wood, which different designs in different areas. If you are very attentive, you will notice there are cats but no birds in the Forbidden City. It is said that most of these cats are descendants of the royal cats owned by of the concubines in Ming and Qing dynasties (all the way from 1368!).
There are few gardens and a small shop inside the city if you want to buy a tiny replica of some relics, or get yourself a nice souvenir. Keep in mind many areas in the city are still closed due to overall renovations.
If you have some additional free time, you can walk a few minutes to Jingshan park. Up the hill you will be able to appreciate the view of the whole city complex (which is approximately 720,000 m2).

The Yonghe Temple, also known as Lamas Temple, is a Tibetan Buddhist temple and monastery in downtown Beijing. If you have a few hours to spare in Beijing, take a didi to the temple. Like entering an ancient bubble inside the busy city, transporting you from Beijing to Tibet in a few steps.
