Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park - Hiroshima
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a war memorial site dedicated to remember the Hiroshima atomic bombing. The main exhibition features common items, photos and stories of local Japanese people whose lives were affected by the bomb. The exhibition demonstrates the horror and trauma experienced by the Japanese people and it is unlike any other war stories. Around the park you can also find the A-Bomb building, which is a remnant of a prefectural industrial promotion hall that was mostly destroyed by the bomb. It is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can also find monuments and cenotaphs erected to remember the victims of the bomb. #hiroshima #Japan
Hiroshima Peace Museum, a time to reflect.
A trip to Hiroshima isn’t complete without a visit to the Peace Memorial Museum. The city is famous for the events of the 6th August 1945 and this museum is a perfectly curated exhibition to help you gain understanding.
The museum helps you understand life in Hiroshima before the war, during the war and what happened after the bomb was dropped.
There is an incredible amount of testimony from people who lost family during the attack and amazing artefacts from the rubble to help contextualise everything.
The museum can be very graphic at times so it might not be for everyone but there are plenty of places to stop and take a break if needed.
For anyone interested in history, politics or war this is a a must stop on your trip to Japan

Hiroshima Peace Park, a beautiful tribute.
Hiroshima was devastated by the first atomic bomb and the city has become a focal point for the global peace movement.
The Hiroshima peace park is situated at the epicentre of the bomb blast and has become a place of salvation for those seeking to understand what happened that day.
The peace dome building remains as it stood after the blast, the iconic dome sitting as one of the only things that remain from 1945 Hiroshima.
The park itself has numerous memorials throughout and of course the main peace museum.
It’s worth going early to avoid crowds and queues at the various memorials and museum

This is tempura momiji, one of Japan’s unique dish that originated from Hiroshima. Momiji means maple leaf in Japanese. Tempura momiji is a dish where they use homemade cake-like bun filled with different fillings and fry them with tempura batter. It’s very tasty! This shop is located in Miyajima, a 10 minutes ferry ride from Miyajimaguchi station. It takes around 30 mins bus ride from hiroshima station to miyajimaguchi station. There are lots of things to see and lots of food to try on this island~ Please do lah a visit there ~ It is best to visit during Sakura season where you can enjoy the view and food at the same time ~
one of the must visit places in Japan - Itsukushima Shrine
Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine on Miyajima Island which is near Hiroshima. It is best known for its big floating torii gate .
Miyajima can be reached by ferry from Hiroshima or from Miyajimaguchi- which is faster. after getting off at Miyajima guchi train station, simply walk toward the ferry pier. On the weekend there is often a large crowd so following them would likely lead you to the ferry terminal.
There are two ferry companies running ferries between Miyajimaguchi and Miyajima; the JR ferry and the Miyajima Matsudai Kisen. Both have large passenger ferries and costs ¥360 round trip for the 10 minutes ride. there are four ferries per hour between 8-6pm, and less frequent schedules in the early and evening hours.
After arriving to the island, turn right and walk for 10-15 minutes to reach the shrine. Weekends are particularly busy with tourists so getting there early would help.
There are also many deer roaming around so beware of not feeding them with food- they will follow you!
It is best to reserve 4-5 hours to leisurely walk around the Shrine and the island. if you have time , a few more hours would be even better to walk further, and enjoy a lunch or tea , or even grilled oysters!

The coolest cafe in Seto Sea - Seabridge
In our recent driving trip in Japan, we drove from Kobe to Shikoku, passing through the Seto Inland Sea. As the area is known for its scenic beauty, we reserved one whole day to drive slowly to enjoy the different islands and the views.
For lunch , we made a little detour to Shimanami Beach in Innoshima. The beach was not very long, but there was a lighthouse and camping field next to the beach. As it was a Sunday, we saw several tents set up on the beach, and the campers were enjoying their coffee and snacks.
There were a couple of one story buildings facing the beach, but only one was serving lunch. We walked in and was immediately attracted by the interior design with warm wooden beams against concrete walls. Sunlight came through the ceiling and reflected onto the multiple glass balls hanging in the center of the cafe. There were 6-8 tables/ sofa set sparingly inside and we took one of the larger table near the window,m. There were only 4 lunch sets available - fried chicken, curry, and two cake sets, and priced between 1500-2000 yen.
While we waited for our food, we couldn’t help but walked around the large cafe, taking photos at almost every corner. The staff also informed us that shoes must be taken off when we walk onto the two sides of the cafe where the tables are set. Slippers and bags were provided for us to carry our shoes.
The cafe was so well designed, chic, and spacious. It is even better than many of the cafes in Tokyo and Osaka.
We spent more than an hour in the cafe, and only wished we could come back for a second time.
Last by not least, there is a huge white dinosaur standing in the backyard of the cafe- to add to the fun of this lunch break. What a memorable experience it was and definitely highly recommending this place to anyone visiting Seto Sea.

Hiroshima - Japan

When the first atomic bomb was dropped over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, the city became known worldwide for this unenviable distinction. The destructive power of the bomb was tremendous and obliterated nearly everything within a two kilometer radius.
After the war, great efforts were taken to rebuild the city. Predictions that the city would be uninhabitable proved false. Destroyed monuments of Hiroshima's historical heritage, like Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden, were reconstructed. In the center of the city a large park was built and given a name that would reflect the aspirations of the re-born city: Peace Memorial Park. #hiroshima #japan #passionpassport

I visited to kosanji temple after went to a hill of hope in setoda. Its my first time to see a dark pink sakura like this. Its called “youkou zakura” and its rare to see. Entrance fee are little bit expensive (include the hill of hope) but definitely worth to visit especially on spring season. There are also a lot of japanese god statues. One of my recommend place to visit in Hiroshima.

Hiroshima Toro Nagashi Matsuri Festival 🏮🕯️
Every year on the 6th of august the city of Hiroshima marks the anniversary of the first atomic bomb. The infamous event decimated the city and killed tens of thousands of people, a lasting legacy of the war.
The Hiroshima Toro Nagashi Matsuri Festival happens in the evening where thousands of multicoloured lanterns are lit and placed into the river.
As the sun sets the lanterns float in front of the peace dome memorial and it creates a stunning sight.
If you’re in Hiroshima for this date it’s a must do, but get there early as the festival draws in huge crowds and it can be hard to get a view.
The festival runs from 6-9PM and you can buy your own lantern to decorate and place in the water if you get there early enough.

Authentic Okonomiyaki experience in Hiroshima
Okonomiyaki is one of the most popular dish in Hiroshima. It is great for casual gathering with friends and enjoy a cold beer- whether for lunch or dinner.
We visited one of the okonomiyaki restaurants on the shopping street in Chuo Ward ( city center). The restaurant is on the 3 rd floor of a building and can be accessed by elevator. There are at least 20 big tables and was nearly full of locals when we arrived at 8pm. There were 10 different kinds of okonomiyaki on the menu, including the most popular oyster, squid, shrimp, pork with egg or even vegetarian.
Our table is actually a long hot plate to heat up the okonomiyaki. The chef would prepare the base ( noodle and cabbage) and toppings and bring to us. The cooking time is about 5 minutes to make the base crispier and we can make the final touch by adding mayonnaise to the top.
It is such a fun experience and definitely worth trying out!

I loved Oyster! Eventho most of the oysters I've ever tasted in my country was really good but guysssss the Oyster at Miyajima Island hit different! The taste was like the ocean with some mineral notes! Very fresh and not fishy at all!

Gourmet tour in Hiroshima
Most people go to Hiroshima memorial park to see the history of the Second World War and how Japan was affected at that time. Of course that’s an important place to visit.
What’s surprising is, right next to the memorial park there is a touristy centre with lots of local delicacies (both in restaurants and souvenir shops) - its famous oysters are really no disappointment- I had the best cooked oyster ever ! Its raw oysters were also good, but I just never had such fat and juicy well-cooked oysters before! The size didn’t shrink after they were cooked, and the little salty taste of the sea water was still there.
It is also famous for its charcoal grilles leeks and lemons - so don’t leave without trying a leek dish and a fresh lemonade! 🍋
