There is a place in Daejeon well-known for its Metasequoia forest: Jangtaesan Natural Recreational Forest, which is known for its exotic landscape.
It is located in Jangan-dong, Daejeon.
Even before entering the forest, you can feel the fresh scent that is flowing along the cool breeze.

Jangtaesan Mountain
from paintree
Jangtaesan Mountain is famous for its metasequoire trees, but it has several small trail courses so you can take a walk in various places whenever you go depends on your energy level. The best thing about it is that you can relax in the forest's wooden beds and benches. I recommend a picnic on that wooden beds with your family and friends. Even if you go without any preparation, there is a cafe in the forest, so you can enjoy your food at the music cafe.

Recreational Forest
Recreational Forest consists of a dense forest of ginkgo trees and bald cypress. Lush valleys nearby make for a great getaway during summer vacation. Yongtaeul Reservoir, located at the entrance, gives beautiful views as well. Inside the natural recreation forest, various facilities including walking paths, physical activity facilities, a botanical garden and bare-foot walking paths are available for visitors.

Autumn in South Korea

Hyeonchungsa Shrine
When you enter the of Hyeonchungsa Shrine, Chungmu gate, you will see another gate called Hongsal Gate. Go past Hongsal Gate and you can see Lee Sun-Shin’s portrait, which was made with Korean Cheonggiwa tiles and iron-reinforced concrete. Inside the Gotaek Building is the Chungmujeong House, where Lee Sun-Shin spent his life until he was a young man. The newly added pond, Yeonji Pond, in Hyeonchungsa Shrine is also worth exploring.

Asan Ginkgo Tree
Asan Ginkgo Road is a road built along Gokgyocheon Stream in Yeomchi-eup, Asan City. The ginkgo avenue was created in 1966 as part of the Hyeonchungsa sanctuary project in 1966, with a total length of 2.1km from Chungmugyo Bridge to the entrance of Hyeonchungsa Temple in Asan City. After 40 years of planting, these ginkgo trees, which are over 50 years old, have now grown into beautiful trees, stopping visitors from all seasons

Lake Mapanuepe
The thrill began after negotiating our tricycle fee to Barangay Buhawen. While traveling, Mt. Bagang suddenly popped up when we reached the dike at Sto. Tomas River and the famous Mt. Pimmayong of Sta. Fe to the north. The road has seen a lot of improvement since the year 2016 when construction started. We stopped on a spot overlooking a portion of Mt. Cawag

Seoraksan Daecheongbong Peak
From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, take an intercity bus to Osaek Bus Termianl.
It is also the origin of most of Seoraksan Mountain’s famous valleys, like Cheonbuldong and Gayadong Valleys. Because of erratic weather and low temperature, Daecheongbong Peak is often covered in snow from late October to late spring. Its ridges are populated by Siberian dwarf pine, Hairy Korean rhododendron, Erman's birch, and subalpine trees, making it a valuable source for alpine plant research.

Going Down from Daecheongbong Peak
It is a relatively flat, 1 hr-long course with many wooden decks that help to make it more accessible for the visitors. The entrance to the trail is the location of the Osaek Mineral Spring, whose natural carbonation and iron content impart a unique flavor in the water. Keep your eyes open for strange rock formations like Gorae, Sangtu, and Bubu Rocks, as well as Namseorak’s famous sights like Seonnyeotang Pothole, Geumgangmun Gate, and Yongso Falls.

Jungcheong Shelter View
I started from Osaek to Daechung, then took this path down. Amazing view to the east and the west. Many rocky spots that go up and down. The weather gets unpredictable during the summer, and it changes overtime where you’re at in the route. Make sure to bring layers and rain coat. It was difficult at the end when it was raining. Don’t recommend when weather is not good. I want to revisit when it’s nice.

From Daecheongbong peak Going to
Seoraksan Mountain is one of Korea's most famous tourist destinations that stretches across several areas including Sokcho, Goseong, Inje, and Yangyang in Gangwon-do. It was designated as Korea's fifth national park in 1970 after the designation of Hallyeohaesang National Park, and as Korea's first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1982. It has been also registered in the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas, which is the global standard of best practice for area-based conservation.

We continued over the ridge, past a weather station and soon reached Jungcheong Shelter, only half a kilometre away from the peak. After a quick break, we tackled the final ascent and, here it was – Daecheongbong Peak. Six hours after we started our hike, we made it to the top of the third highest mountain in Korea. And it felt amazing.

Dong Seoul Bus Terminal
Getting There - Dong Seoul Bus Terminal is located at Gangbyeon Station (Seoul Subway Line 2).
