HLNG Cafe Phattalung, a beautiful dreamy cafe
##tripstars HLNG Cafe is a very cosy and interesting cafe in Phattalung, Thailand…. The cafe is somehow beautifully decorated with well taxidermied birds (a swan, many peacocks, macaws, owls )and even a serval cat… it comes with a pretty English styled outdoor garden and even the car park inside a pretty stylish warehouse comes with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling…. Very the “extra”
The drinks here are pretty nice… coffee, tea and fruit drinks… they serve lovely pastries and food too if you like… however, a minimum 1 drink per pax is needed to access the beautiful garden. This place is a popular place for wedding photos… and definitely very instaworthy…

The Temple of the Dancing Tiger/ Blue Temple
The Blue Temple or Wat Rong Suea Ten is also known as “Temple of the Dancing Tiger” is designed by Putha Kabkaew, a student of the artist who built the White Temple.
The story was that before it was built, there was an ancient temple that stood here, and there were tigers that were said to have roamed freely over the grounds when it was abandoned nearly a century ago.
Painted with calming cerulean, the Blue Temple is adorned with gleaming gold trim and surrounded by blue and gold statues of magical Buddhist beings and mythological characters.
The centerpiece of inside the main temple is a Buddha statue, made from pearly porcelain that seems to manage to look kinda eerie and somewhat blueish in the prayer hall. He sits with one hand pointed to the ground, a representation of the moment he achieved enlightenment.
This is a beautiful temple to visit when you are in Chiang Rai too…. And don’t forget to end your visit here with some coconut ice cream!!!! It is just such a perfect and delicious treat on a hot day!!!

The mysterious Black House of Chiang Rai…
Baan Dan Museum or the Black House, is a unique, strange and interesting landmark in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand…
Created by Thawan Duchanee the Black House looks like a huge Lanna-style Buddhist temple with big, intimidating-looking doors… it is filled with art and installations made of taxidermied animals…
A gigantic wooden table stretches across the entrance room (as well as towards the back of the house) draped with snake and crocodile skins. You can also fine enormous black chairs made from multiple buffalo horns and even moose horns surround the table like malevolent guests. I took a seat here for a moment and felt like some medieval chieftain’s wife at the main table… lol (me and my imaginations)
The walls are covered with paintings, sculptures, installations and large canvases painted in blood red with slashing black brushstrokes.
While the White Temple (wat rong khun) is often described as “heavenly”, the Black House is its opposite, and seemed filled with darkness, and death - supposedly representing human suffering due to desire and greed that the Buddha saw along his travels….
The gardens are beautiful and instaworthy with collections of artefacts and antiques given to the artist….it is said that the cremated remains of the artist is also placed at the highest structure inside the main house… 🫢🫣 There are also a few artefacts representing human sexuality though it’s just carvings of the female and male private parts … so kind of a 18sx place…

#songkran2024
Song Nam Phra is a traditional Thai ceremony of pouring water on a Buddha statue(s)
You can find one (or even many buddha statues) all over Bangkok in malls, hotels, etc
Next to the statue are would be a bowl of scented water with flower petals and a cup for Thai or anyone who wants to do the Song Nam Phra .. you are suppose to pour this scented water with flower petals on the buddha’s body…
This ritual is a way of paying respect to the Buddha statue and to bring good fortune to the person doing the ritual…

The ‘Taj Mahal’ of Thailand…
The breathtaking Central Mosque of Songkhla or Dinul Islam is the central Islamic administration of Songkhla established back in the year 1991 by Mr.Asis Pitakkumpun, the chairman and Islamic committee during that time who hoped to provide Songkhla with a central mosque and religious administration
It serves as the center of the Islamic faith in Songkhla with worship facilities and delicate Islamic architecture… this 3-story building has a car park at the ground floor, a committee’s office on the second level and the prayer room in white color decorated by glass windows and marble floor on the third level and a pool in the front yard that makes the building so magnificent that it is called “Thailand’s Taj Mahal”.
And it is indeed such a breathtaking sight and an amazing place for photos….
The Central Mosque is opened to anyone who is interested in learning more about the teachings of Allah…

The unique Long Neck Karen village
Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes you can find in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand… A tribal group once living in the hills in Myanmar (formerly Burma) side of the Thai border, the Karen women wear heavy brass rings around their necks, forearms, and shins.
While the Karen men are mainly field workers and farmers, the women have a rich history of crafting from wood carving to weaving.
While it may seem that the Karen women have unusually long necks, their traditional brass rings actually smash their shoulders and rib cages down just making their necks seem longer.
It is said that in the early days of the Long Necks, the practice of the brass rings was started not just for beauty, but to protect the women against tigers (the possibility of tigers attacking any of the village women at the neck)
The village is kind o a large tourist market villages with the Long Neck Karens stationed by her own hut or stall deligently working on knitting looms or carving something from wood or bamboo… you are of course, welcomed to take photos, and even more encouraged to purchase something to support their livelihood and so on…
