Zhangjiagang’s Shuangshan Island is one of the hidden gems of the city. It’s not far at all from the mainland as you’ll need to take a short ferry from the mainland to the island (about 10 minutes). Once on the island there are many things to see and do. First, I’d recommend you get a scooter to ride around, as the island is big and it's really fun to ride and explore. Shuangshan Island is 80 years ago by the river sandbanks accumulation, the island is large in size, is a quiet oasis lying in the Yangtze River. The current situation is basically mainly farmland and small farms. The whole terrain is relatively flat. After self-built and built a dam around the island, it forms a landscape with high and low outside. The dam can resist the historical highest water level without risk, and there is a 5-meter topography difference with the island. Every spring, hundreds of flowers are competing, and the peach red willow green. Birds and flowers are fragrant, like a colorful picture scroll. There are poems like: when the reeds are born, the knife fish is fat, the bamboo shadow swan flies, the lights of thousands of houses reflect the river red, and the people sing beautifully in spring. Shuangshan Island is also known as Xianrendun and Shikong Mountain. Located in the Lion Exit21.2 kilometers north of Ninghai County, two small mountains stand in the sea. It is legendary that in ancient times, there was a dragon in Xiangshan Port who often harassed the lion. The fairy picked two small mountains to fill the sea, and the flat dan broke. The mountain fell in the sea, which is the double mountain, so it is called the fairy pier. From the stone hole head, the second mountain is only one hole separated, so it is also called Shikong Mountain. The famous contemporary calligrapher Sha Menghai in the Shuangshan stone wall title &quot;Shuangyu Xianfeng&quot; four words. There are also &quot;Jiangshan Duojiao&quot; and other inscriptions.
