Ninh Binh, VN - Sunsets, Boats and Mountains
Getting There
Ninh Binh is located in North Vietnam, around 3 hours from Hanoi. There is no airport, so to get here you’ll need to take a bus or a train from wherever you are currently at in Vietnam. For example, we got a bus from Hanoi to Ninh Binh for £7 each, but buses and trains also go from other places such as Hue.
Attractions
Ninh Binh is a beautiful place to visit, the landscape is covered with mountains and trees.
1) Go on a rowing boat tour in Tam Coc and explore caves and pagodas.
2) Visit Bich Dong pagoda, which is nestled into the mountain side.
3) Climb 500 steps to the top of Lying Dragon Mountain, located at Mua Cave.
4) Cycle through the rice fields and villages for unforgettable views.
Hotels
There’s not too many options in Ninh Binh, but they are good.
1) Lys Homestay.
Run by an amazing family, the rooms are clean and full of natural light. The location is great and is near all the restaurants and shops. If you need to rent a bicycle or scooter, you can do that here!
2) Banana Tree Hostel
A bit more social and upbeat, this is also a great place to stay. It’s located in the same area as Lys Homestay, so you get the same great experience!
Food & Restaurants
For us, this is where Ninh Binh lacked a bit of quality. However, there is still some decent options to choose from.
1) T-Pub Restaurant
For some amazing freshly made pizza!
2) Lantern Restaurant
For some great Vietnamese food!
3) Pig Family Cafe & Restaurant
For some cheap food and cheap beer!

Tam Coc boat ride :)
Located about 90km from Hanoi, Ninh Bihn region is definitely must see place when visiting Vietnam. Beside Halong Bay this is the biggest tourist attraction. One of the places I really enjoyed is boat cruise on Ngo Dong river, where boats are driven by feet, which makes it super interesting cruise among beautiful scenery of limestone mountains and three stalactite caves. There will be a close look on Mua Cave from different point of view. At the turning point there will be small floating market where you can buy food, fruit, snacks, and drinks for yourself and also your boat driver as a gesture of appreciation. Whole tour is about 2 hours and costs around 10usd. Definitely a place to spend part of your day visiting this beautiful region. #tamcoc #vietnam #muacave #rivercruise
Tam Coc Tropical Homestay
If you are visiting Tam Coc, and you wish to stay for couple of nights, than this Tropical Homestay might be perfect place for you. Bungalows are big and cozy, owner is super nice and polite and helpful. It s beautiful and peaceful. Swimming pool in the yard is great place to sit and chill if you don t want to swim. This homestay is in city center. 2 min walk from Tam Coc boat ride and all restaurants around. Definitely every recommendation for this place as it s great value for the money :) #tamcoc #homestay #vietnam #vietnamtravel
A Legindary Viewpoint in Tam Coc
Hang Mua Viewpoint is the name of this place. It's located in Tam Coc, near Ninh Binh, about 4 hours drive from Hanoi.
There is a huge lotus pond near this place, so try to plan the visit on Lotus season.
The viewpoint is on a high mountain, where you can climb by stairs.
The trip is tiring, make sure you are in a good physical shape before you go. But even though climbing there is very tiring the views are absolutely breathtaking.
There is a small fee for the entrance and a place to park your bike.

Breathtaking Nature!
#celebratewithtrip
Tam Coc literally means three grottos located in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province. It's better to depart early morning to enjoy the cool fresh atmosphere as well as have a complete trip because the distance from the center of Hanoi is just 110 kilometers. The province is home to breathtaking limestone formations that shoot up out of rice paddies and broad rivers. The town of Tam Coc is surrounded by the mountains on three sides, with some homestays nestled right up against the stark cliffs. You can explore the region by car, bike, and boat. The boat ride takes an hour and half. And if you don't want to get scorched by the sun bring your own umbrella. It was a good experience. Don't miss it out.

After the rain, comes the hues
Water Temple at Trang An in Ninh Binh;
This is definitely one of my top must visit sites for anyone who is looking for serenity on their path to enlightenment. The energy here reminds me of the vortex in Sedona. You leave here feeling full and rejuvenated.
We took a tour from Hanoi for $33/each. The tour started at 830am and lasted until 8pm. It included a buffet meal, pickup and dropoff from hotel within Old town, a few water bottles, all entrance fees and a local guide. Bring some extra tips for the guides. It was pouring when we went on the tour and the boat captain pushed all 4 of us along the river without an umbrella. She still had a smile on her face and offered to take photos for us.

A One of a Kind River Cruise
I never thought it would be that amazing to just marvel at the wonders of nature while sitting on a boat. I have looked up photos of Ninh Binh province in Vietnam and they make such beautiful post cards. That set my expectation of this tour to a high regard. Come the day of the trip, the weather was perfect and the river looked really peaceful. Tens of other boats were conducting the tour at the same time and if you're imaginative enough, it could feel like a race. However, you would want to just relax and take in the breathtaking scenery passing by rock formations and cliffs, aquatic plants, and even a cave. #tamcoc #rivercruise #ninhbinh
