The Peaceful Side of Japan
It took 2 hours of train from #Fukuoka #hakata with wonderful views throughout the ride.
Arriving #Yufu station, you will see the mountain in front of you immediately.
But don’t forget to take picture with the train if you were taking #Yufuin no Mori .
After 15mins of walk passing through#Yufuin Floral Village with all the gift shops and food, it brings you to #Kinrinko #金鱗湖.
First I was expecting Kinrinko to look more grand but then I found out what special about it.
Surrounded by hot springs, it cause a temperature difference between the water and the environment.
You will find a thin layer of steam right on top of the water surface giving the view another special coat.
But the water is not that hot as you might imagine, sine you will be able to see gold fishes clearly, swimming around.
There are some cafe and restaurants nearby for you to have a seat, relax and appreciate the beauty of the nature.
Hope you will enjoy your trip to #Yufu #Fukuoka

Hidden Gem at Chuo, Fukuoka
When you walk along Nakagawa, other than the food stalls, there is a street full of mid to high end cuisines with reasonable prices - Nishinakasu. We randomly walked by and found Mercury River Grill and decided to dine over there. Table booked via their website directly.
Owner Tairo-san was trained in New York, and opened his own shop here. Their courses ranged from 9,900 to 15,400yen. The sirloin and wagyu are no-nonsense! Super juicy and tender. #fukuoka
Restaurant is located by the Nakagawa riverside with spectacular view.
Fascinating Fukuoka: A Colorful Journey of Flowers and Food
In April 2023, my family embarked on an unforgettable trip to Fukuoka. Accompanied by my mum, sister, and wife, we discovered a delightful array of experiences that left us with cherished memories.
Our first stop was Nokoshima Island Park, a haven of natural beauty. The park was adorned with an abundance of vibrant flowers, creating a kaleidoscope of colors that left us in awe. My mum, particularly, was delighted by the picturesque scenery, and her contented smile mirrored the enchanting surroundings.
Next on our itinerary was the renowned Marinoa City Fukuoka, a paradise for shopaholics. This sprawling outlet offered an extensive selection of stores, fulfilling our shopping cravings. We indulged in retail therapy, finding great bargains and adding fashionable pieces to our wardrobes.
Of course, a trip to Fukuoka wouldn't be complete without savoring its delectable cuisine. The city boasted a culinary scene that tantalized our taste buds. We couldn't resist the allure of authentic ramen and succulent yakiniku, which left us craving for more. Each culinary adventure was a gastronomic delight, allowing us to delve into the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Fukuoka.
Our exploration extended beyond Fukuoka to the charming city of Kumamoto, known for its ubiquitous mascot, Kumamon. Everywhere we turned, we were greeted by the adorable bear, spreading happiness and cuteness. Kumamoto's vibrant atmosphere and the endearing presence of Kumamon created a cheerful ambiance that resonated with our family.
One highlight of our visit to Kumamoto was the Kumamon Port in Yatsushiro. This haven for Kumamon enthusiasts showcased larger-than-life statues of the beloved character, beckoning us to capture memorable photos. It was a paradise for Kumamon fans, and we reveled in the joyous atmosphere that surrounded us.
Despite encountering heavy rain during our visit to Aso, we remained undeterred in our pursuit of adventure. Aso's renowned night scene, adorned with a blanket of stars, eluded us due to the inclement weather. However, we made the most of our time by exploring the Aso Volcano Museum, immersing ourselves in the captivating history and geology of the region. It was a unique experience that deepened our understanding of the natural wonders that shape our world.
Our journey concluded with a visit to Nabegataki Falls Park, where we encountered a breathtaking waterfall. What made this experience truly special was the ability to walk inside the cascading waters, allowing us to embrace nature's grandeur up close. It was a thrilling and refreshing encounter that invigorated our spirits.
As we bid farewell to Fukuoka, we reflected on the multitude of experiences that made this family trip extraordinary. From the vibrant floral landscapes of Nokoshima Island Park to the culinary delights of Fukuoka and the endearing charm of Kumamoto, each destination left an indelible mark on our heart.

Canal City Hakata is one of the most beautiful malls in Fukuoka city. It is located in the center of Hakata and very close to the Naka river.
You can find products from almost all brands at very affordable prices. Moreover, it is tax free and you can get the tax of the product right there.
You can also watch water and laser shows in the evenings. It is one of the must-see places in Fukuoka.

This is the Keyanodaimon Park located in Itoshima, Fukuoka prefecture. You can take a bus from Chikuzen-Maibari Station. You can always ask at the tourist information counter at the station regarding the bus timetable and the location of the bus stop. You can enjoy the cool breeze and sea view at the park~ There is a totoro no Mori nearby where it looks like the forest drawn in the Totoro movie. Unfortunately I was unable to go as it was muddy due to the thunderstorm from the day before. There is a lookout point at the end of the totoro no Mori hike. There are not a lot of tourists there and I like it

📸 Since I am traveling alone, I want to take pictures of myself with beautiful views. I don't want to bother others to take my photos and end up with unsatisfactory results. So, I will bring a tripod for my camera.
💍 The important companion for this trip is my remote control ring. It's so convenient and I can take thousands of pictures without worrying about losing it.
👧 As a solo female traveler, Japan is relatively safe, but I still need to take care of myself. I won't stay out too late and will choose safe accommodations. I will also purchase travel insurance.
🗺️ I will research and plan my trip in detail. If I have any questions, I will ask locals for help.
🚄 Lastly, getting lost is normal, right? 😅
💴 Total expenses:
- Airfare: only paid 1530 baht for airport tax due to the voucher I won.
- Accommodation: 2830 baht for 3 nights (1 night at Yufuin Assi and 2 nights at The Breakfast Hotel Tenjin)
- Transportation: 2300 baht
- Food and activities: approximately 12000 baht
- However, including the cost of eating and shopping at the airport, I spent a total of 20000 baht 😂
- I used an IC card for transportation expenses and did not purchase a pass since I only went to Yufuin, which is the farthest destination.
- I took the bus from Tenjin to Yufuin. It costs 3250 yen for one way, but if you buy a round-trip ticket, it will be discounted to 5760 yen. The bus stops at Hakata Station and the airport.

HafH Fukuoka- The Life- good food and coffee
This cafe is about 7 min walk from Fukuoka’s Gion station, or 10 min from Hakata station.
The cafe is in fact quite big inside, yet very inconspicuous on the outside as the shop name is quite small, and the facade blends in with the building above. We nearly missed it when we walk passed.
We went there for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food which were made with intricacy and tasted delicious. The iberico ham in my egg Benedict was made into a rose shape, while the avocado toast had chunky avocado and salmon, layered on a multi grain toast with cream cheese. Most importantly, coffee was up to standard.
The environment was quiet and spacious. Although there were construction outside on the main road, we didn’t hear any of the noise.

Stylish and delicious izakaya in Hakata 虎乃家
We found a really good charcoal grilled yakitori place while walking through the Nishi- Naka su area.
This izakaya is located on a narrow and dim street. The entrance is not wide, but has a large red lantern hanging in the front with the shop name. What attracted us was the shop name - vegetable roll!
We visited at 930 pm on a Monday night and it was still packed with people. The place only has about 30 seats, and we were lucky to be given a table without having to wait.
As with many izakaya, the tables are small and space is tight, but this place has bamboo curtains between the tables which gave some privacy for the customers. There are also a counter of seats facing the cooking area.
The menu has many kinds of yakitori and we specifically ordered their specialty of vegetable yakitori omakase. The vegetable yakitori were rolled up with different meat, such as bacon or sliced pork- and were grilled to perfection - tender and juicy inside and crispy on the outside.
Total bill with drink for 2 was less than ¥6000. What a great place! Definitely recommend this place and try to make reservation in advance.

Where the flowers and sea meet
#japan #fukuoka
This is Nokonoshima Island Park situated in Kyushu, Fukuoka. You can take a 45 minutes bus ride from Hakata train station to Noko Tosenba bus stop which is the Meinohama Ferry terminal. It will be a 10 minute Ferry ride to Nokonoshima. Once you reach the island, turn left where you can take a bus up to the Island Park. There is an entrance fee of 1200 yen. I know it sounds make a hassle to travel, but the view is totally worth it, especially when you visit during Sakura season. You can even have a picnic there to enjoy this spectacular view.
Uminonakamichi Seaside Park 海の中道海濱公園
This is quite a large park located in the northern side of Fukuoka city. It takes just under 1 hour by subway from Hakata Station, toward Saitozaki station 西戶崎,with transit at Kashii. You should then get off at the 海の海公園station. This station will lead you directly into the park entrance within 2-3 minutes walk so it is more convenient than the Saitozaki station.
Entry ticket for adult is 450 yen while high school students and younger is free. The park is really huge and is situated on a peninsula, with the north and south side being the sea.
Once you have bought the ticket, go to the the bicycle rental and get the 3 hours (500yen) or one day (700yen) ticket. The park is so big that riding a bike is much faster and enjoyable. The bicycle lanes are wide and clearly marked. I can I may that it could be very hot in the summer so do bring your hat. There are even bicycles for 2 or children’s bikes. If you plan to see all parts of the park, including aquarium, zoo, flower park, and all the observatories, then the one day pass is better. However if you only want to see certain parts, then I think 3 hours is enough.
I went in early March, and the weather was around 15-20 degrees. only some parts of the flower garden had flowers. The rose garden was empty , and the flower hill didn’t have anything spectacular. I also went to the zoo, but it is really for children- with monkeys, some lazy kangaroo, sheep… along with a few other small animals.
It was a surprise to me that there were only two places with restaurants in such a big park. Therefore if you plan to stay long, it is better to bring some lunch.
I would recommend going to this park in the right month when the flowers are blooming - ie April/ May. Do check the website in advance.

The city guardian temple - Kushida Shrine
The Kushida Shrine is one of the most important shrine in Fukuoka. It is said to be built in 757 AD, and is centrally located near Gion station.
There are many things to see within the complex. For example, the architecture of the building is beautiful on the outer gate and inner court. The huge Ginko trees ( best to see in Dec when the leaves turns totally yellow- ), the beautifully decorated float for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa, the well with the three cranes which is said to grant longevity, just to name a few.
The best time to visit is early morning as the sun is directly on the building for taking good photos. It also opens beyond 9pm and is well lit too. Many locals would drop by for their prayers.
Definitely not to be missed.

Japan is filled with shrines, but there are a few popular and easily accessible Shrine loke this Dazaifu Temangu Shrine which is just located a short 5-8mins walk from the Dazifu station.
Address: 4 Chome-7-1 Saifu, Dazaifu, Fukuoka 818-0117, Japan
This Shrine was said to be built to honour and dedicate to the God of learning and you be able to see the background story of the Shrine which dates back at least more than 1000AD ago. Apart from the Shrine, nearby there are also alot of traditional snack shops and souvenir shop where most tourists will flock to after the walk in the Shrine.

Amazing port at Fukuoka☺

Touring in Fukuoka is a very great experience. Fukuoka as one of city divided by river has been important as harbour City. We looked around by bus and were amazed by the very beautiful atmosphere, which the city is very neat and clean. Along the way, we saw the Hakata Port Tower which is located in Hakata Bay with 100 m high and is free to visit. The shape of the tower is very unique and attractive and one of the landmarks of Hakata city. the atmosphere and the architecture of the harbor around it is also amazing and the view is also soothing to the eyes.

Japanese garden lovers get closer in Fukuoka
Very happy to be on vacation to Japan, in the midst of an international meeting in Fukuoka, we had the opportunity knowing and exploring many interest things in Fukuoka, not only the food which is very- very delicious, but the main place that is a pity to miss, namely the Dazaifu Shrine. The place is very beautiful, the garden arrangement is very cool to look at, also it's very comfortable to linger here. The sound of birds chimed in accompanied by the gurgling of water and the leaves rubbing against each other. Very peaceful. I want to repeat my vacation here #vacation #japantravel #fukuoka #kyushu
Kushida Shrine-Hakata Old Town
Kushida Shrine was the first shrine that I visited in Japan. It is a beautiful shrine, situated in the city and easily accessible. Kushida Shrine where the guardian deity of Hakata is enshrined is one of the oldest shrines in Fukuoka. It is a beautiful shrine, situated in the city and easily accessible. It is easy to get to Kushida Shrine by taxi. Also close by subway and bus.The nearest stations are Nakasukawabata and Gion, on the subway line. From either of these two stations, it takes about 8 minutes on foot to reach Kushida Shrine.
According to legend, the water of this well grants longevity and eternal youth. And the proper method for drinking this water is to take it in three steps: drink the first mouthful while praying for your own longevity, the second praying for the wellbeing of your family and the third mouthful while praying for the health of friends or partners.
On the grounds is a display of one of the huge floats that are used in festival parades.
this place was very beautiful and peaceful. don't forget visiting here while you in Fukuoka. #shrine #fukuoka #japantravel
