Tsim Sha Tsui | A Feast of Seafood Dinner. Kuromon Seafood.
Just came back from Japan, where I had some grilled seafood by the shore, and I've been missing it ever since. So, back in Hong Kong, I found a place that serves grilled seafood.
Supreme Seafood Grill $128
This grilled shellfish dish is incredibly rich in ingredients, featuring large scallops the size of ping pong balls, sea urchin, shrimp, Hiroshima oysters, salmon roe, and is seasoned with green onions, radish slices, and a special sauce. The sea urchin melts into the sauce when heated, creating a sweet and creamy flavor. The broth is also very rich, so delicious that I drank it all up.
Sea Urchin and Crab Miso Grilled in Shell $88
The grilled shell is larger than usual, with plenty of creamy crab miso, which is quite rich in crab flavor, and is served with soda crackers to eat together.
Kuromon Special: Ultimate Abalone Seafood Roll $158
The filling is more than the sushi rice, and the ingredients are not ordinary; it includes abalone, salmon, tuna, shrimp, octopus, and egg. It's very satisfying to eat!

Hidden Gem Izakaya in Tsuen Wan Industrial Building
After work in Tsuen Wan tonight, I heard great things from a friend and decided to try this hidden omakase spot in a nearby industrial building! Stepping in, I was immediately greeted with the feel of a Japanese izakaya🏮😍
The staff were super friendly, humorous, and gave off a warm, family vibe!
While waiting for the food, I picked out some drinks. There's a huge selection of Japanese beverages🤩, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available. I ended up choosing Okinawa pineapple beer🍺, sake🍶, and a grapefruit drink.
The appetizer was a generous bowl of edamame with dried fish mousse, served hot with a salad dressing that perfectly complements the drinks🍻. The squid was surprisingly tender and came in a large portion!
Next up were the large plates of grilled items and skewers🤩. The scallops were huge and incredibly satisfying with their fresh taste, and there were even crab roe😋. The chicken wings, mushrooms, and chicken skin were all outstanding, but the chicken skin was my favorite with its smoky, chewy, and crispy texture👍🏻.
Sushi time🍣. The presentation in a wooden box was so ceremonial💕
Sushi: white fish, amberjack, tuna, and botan shrimp, topped with sea urchin, fish roe sauce, and gold leaf—a luxurious and blissful taste😌, fresh and rich.
Then came the sashimi boat, which was too delightful😍. Toro, salmon, ark shell, scallop, kingfish, white ice whelk with salmon roe, fresh silver cod, and northern quahog—extremely fresh with a wide variety, very sincere. Plus, the Japanese oysters🦪 were creamy and sweet, simply incredible🤤.
After all the cold dishes, a bowl of seafood porridge was perfect to warm the stomach😌. No MSG, smooth texture, and the crab was flavorful and delicious👍🏻. The dessert ice cream was colorful and just seeing it made me happy. Pistachio, purple sweet potato, double cheese, almond coffee flavors—a good ending 🥰

Unforgettable Omakase.
I always love to eat Omakase 🍣, so I made a reservation with my good friend to go to the trendy Sushi Rin restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui tonight. The entrance is decorated with wine bottles 📸, making it a popular spot for taking photos. The interior is bright and comfortable, and all the staff are polite. The chef is also humorous, so we had a good time chatting with him 👨🍳.
Every time I have Omakase, I must order a glass of sake 🍶. This time we ordered the $1680 set menu (per person).
🔹️First, we had three appetizers: fresh fried crab, salmon roe tofu skin, and Mizu cloud vinegar. I really liked this appetizer, it was sour, sweet, refreshing, and appetizing 😋.
🔪Sashimi:
🔹️Kinmedai (Golden Eye Snapper)
We started with thinly sliced Kinmedai, and then added some vinegar and scallions. It was very refreshing.
🔹️Matsukawa Karei (Flounder)
We ate the rolled Matsukawa Karei with wasabi.
🔹️Hokkaido Purple Sea Urchin
I was already in love with sea urchin 😍, and this was my first time trying Hokkaido Purple Sea Urchin. The whole shell was light yellow, and the taste was fresh and sweet, with a solid texture 😋.
🔹️Hirazakana (Flatfish)
There are two ways to eat it, one with yuzu pepper paste, and the other with three liters of pickling.
🔹️Thin Tuna
It was soft and smooth, without much fiber.
🔹️Iwate Prefecture Mickey
I love Iwate Prefecture Mickey oysters 🦪. The meat is thick and fat, with a moderate seawater flavor. The oyster flavor is rich and fragrant, and it is super delicious with the Tosa jelly 🤤.
🔹️Fresh Cod
The chef lightly grilled the cod, so it had a slightly oily taste. It was served with homemade miso vinegar, and sandwiched with perilla leaves, chrysanthemum flowers 🪻, and chrysanthemum flowers 🌼, which enhanced the flavor 👍.
🔹️Chutoro (Medium Fatty Tuna)
Sprinkle some bamboo charcoal salt on it, wrap it in perilla leaves, and it melts in your mouth with a fresh and sweet taste.
🐠Washoku:
🔹️Grilled Tuna
The grilled tuna had a strong oily taste, and the texture was soft and smooth. It tasted even better with seaweed.
🔹️Grilled Kinmedai
The fish was grilled until crispy, and the fish soup was added with ginger juice. The fish meat was tender and smooth, and the soup was fresh and sweet.
🍣Sushi:
There were six kinds of sushi 🍣: deep-sea pond fish, scallops, black rockfish, sparkling squid, horse dung sea urchin, and Hokkaido peony shrimp.
They were all very fresh 😋. I especially loved the rich taste of the horse dung sea urchin 🤤, and the Hokkaido peony shrimp paired perfectly with the shrimp paste 🦐. The scallops were fresh and thick 🤤.
🥣Soup:
After eating so many cold dishes 🥣, we drank a bowl of hot miso soup to warm our stomachs.
Green tea pudding:
The chef made his own 🍵 green tea, which was rich and flavorful, and the pudding was very smooth 👍.
In conclusion, I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant 😊, and the food was surprising and delicate 🤩. Next time, I will definitely come back and chat with the humorous chef again 😂.

Nine Dragon City independent building, five stories high [Sanwo Story].
Fuk Lo Tsun Road in Kowloon City was my childhood home, and there are many restaurants on this street. Tonight, instead of having Thai food, I came to San Wa Syu to have teppanyaki🏮. This five-story independent building😎 is a brand new Japanese-style restaurant with sushi, teppanyaki, robatayaki, and washoku🥘. Teppanyaki and washoku are on the first floor, with Japanese-style decoration, elegant and spacious environment. Let's take a look at what we are going to eat tonight from the menu😍.
Summer Testing Menu $1380 (per person)

Smoked with straw, the mackerel is grilled with scallions and wasabi😋, making the taste more delicious and outstanding🤤.
🔸️Teppanyaki Prawn with Matsutake Mushroom Sauce and Sea Urchin
This dish from Sabah is very surprising🦐. The prawn is very chewy, and the matsutake mushroom sauce is very fragrant and rich. The sauce is made by adding shrimp paste, sea urchin, and morel and sheep stomach mushrooms.🤩 It's unforgettable.
🔸️Fish Maw Tempura with Dried Scallop and Chicken Soup
This is an outstanding dish👍. It's the first time I've had fish maw tempura🐔. The chicken soup is cooked for 4 to 5 hours, and it must be finished🤭. After drinking it, I feel like I have more collagen😂, which is good for my skin.
🔸️Stuffed Matsutake Mushroom with Chicken and Hokkaido Scallop
This is the masterpiece of the chef. The chicken and scallop are stuffed into the matsutake mushroom, and there is chicken cartilage inside, so it makes a crunchy sound when eating.
🔸️Teppanyaki Saga Beef Sirloin Sandwich
The semi-cooked Saga beef sirloin is very oily and tender, with a strong beef flavor🦬.
🔸️Dried Scallop and Dancing Mushroom Clear Soup
After eating the Saga beef sirloin sandwich, I'm already full🍄. This soup is very sweet and refreshing, and the dancing mushroom is the most suitable. It can help digest the oiliness😋.
🔸️Mizu Shingen Mochi with Japanese Strawberry
This is a famous Japanese rice cake dessert, which tastes like jelly. It is seasoned with soybean flour and black sugar syrup, and the taste is sweet and delicious.
🔥I feel that the chef is very attentive to cooking👨🍳. All the ingredients, even the sauces and soups, are so fresh and delicious🤩. The presentation is also very exquisite👍. Tonight is really happy and unforgettable🥰.

The excellent clay pot rice at the Chinese-Japanese fusion izakaya 🍚🍱
Mom loves to eat fish, so I took her to try the white eel claypot rice at Autumn Fragrance today. She was very satisfied and even wanted to invite friends to come for dinner tonight.
📍Location: Near Chi Shin Street, about a five-minute walk from Jufuk Building (now Autumn Fragrance Club) behind it.
🏠Ambience: The small garden-style storefront has outdoor seating under a pink exterior wall. The indoor area is square-shaped, with high stools and two-person tables by the window, a sofa and four-person table against the blue wall, and a bar on the right decorated with liquor bottles. Japanese crystal lamps hang from the ceiling, and a horizontal banner is hung on the middle wall. The overall decor is warm-toned with a hint of Chinese style, despite being a Japanese izakaya.
🤵🏻Service: Orders are taken by staff, and a service charge is added.
🍽️Lunch: Set meals are available, with complimentary soup and salad 🥗, and special drinks can be added for $15.
🥢Salt-baked white eel claypot rice🥘 $238
This dish is not included in the lunch set, so it must be ordered separately. Although it appears small, it is actually quite filling ☺️. The white eel is fresh and thick, with firm and fragrant meat 😋. In the middle, there is a raw egg sprinkled with scallions and sakura shrimp. The rice at the bottom is mixed with soy sauce and has a crispy texture, making it very delicious and flavorful 🤤. Highly recommended 👍.
🥢Red curry green mussel and crab meat handmade pasta🍝 $88
This dish comes with a vinegar salad 🥗 and noodle drum soup 🥣, and the portion is large. The handmade pasta is thick and chewy, with a delicious sauce and three plump green mussels 🤭. I especially love the spicy red curry sauce, which is both flavorful and appetizing, with a hint of crab meat 🦀. Great value for money 👍.
🍵Grapefruit peach oolong tea $15
I ordered a pot of hot tea for my mom, and it was surprisingly delightful 🤩. The tea has a refreshing fragrance, with a hint of sour grapefruit and sweet peach 🍑. The three flavors complement each other very well, making it a refreshing and appetizing drink.
🥤Passion fruit pineapple soda $38
This drink looks great, with a pineapple slice that not only serves as decoration but can also be eaten 😙. The fruity flavor is rich and refreshing, making it a perfect drink for cooling down 🥳.

Black Gate Seafood Market. 🇯🇵🇯🇵
The popular Japanese restaurant [Kuro-Mon Suizan] has opened a new branch in Causeway Bay, which is super spacious and decorated with a full Japanese style, just like the Tsim Sha Tsui branch. The ingredients are directly imported from the Kuro-Mon market in Japan to Hong Kong, and the main dishes are a series of fresh and abundant seafood dishes, such as seafood hotpot and authentic Kuro-Mon market snacks, wagyu beef, sashimi, and many other choices. One of the signature dishes is the Kamo-yaki, which creates different flavors with various ingredients 👍🏻👍🏻
🥗▪️Salmon fruit pickled salad with Japanese dressing $98
Delicious salmon, avocado, fresh salad, fried burdock silk with yuzu dressing, fresh and refreshing
🧆▪️Scallop with black truffle white sauce $118
The sauce is super creamy and full of truffle flavor, paired with scallops and mushrooms, very tasty
🦀▪️Red Devil crab miso Kamo-yaki $128
This is the specialty of the restaurant. The Kamo-yaki has crab meat, crab paste, crab roe, quail eggs, scallions, and after being grilled, the crab paste is super fragrant and rich. The Red Devil is added with chili, making it even more delicious when eaten with crackers or rice, super authentic
🍲▪️Spicy sake boiled live abalone (2 pieces) $108
It tastes a bit like spicy sauce Kanto-style cooked food, the abalone is big, soft, and flavorful, paired with sweet white radish, and cooked with spicy sake, very tasty
🫓▪️Kuro-Mon Osaka-yaki $88
Full of vegetables, the surface is covered with a lot of bonito flakes and scallions, sweet and salty thick special sauce, super delicious with Osaka-yaki
🍣▪️Scallion tuna belly roll $118
Delicious tuna belly paste with scallion red vinegar rice roll, no need to add any soy sauce, very flavorful
🍗▪️Kuro-Mon fried chicken (4 pieces) $88
The portion is very generous, each piece is big, the outer layer is crispy, the chicken is tender and flavorful, and it is served with homemade salad dressing, simple and delicious
🍔▪️Kuro-Mon eel burger $108
Two thick and juicy eels, sandwiched with egg and rice, wrapped in seaweed, very authentic and highly recommended
🍖▪️Homemade minced chicken skewers $78
The chicken is crispy and chewy, and you can still taste the chicken cartilage. It is served with egg yolk and shrimp sauce with scallions, first-class
🥃▪️Plum wine / rose plum wine each $68
I like to use special large pearl ice cubes, which are not easy to melt and can maintain the temperature, and this plum wine is not too sweet, easy to drink

Visited multiple times and the standard is still the same... delicious 😋.
It's been a long time since I last visited this restaurant. In the past, their signature dish was the Hamayaki, but this time I ordered the "Abundant Catch for Two" for $1680. If you like to drink sake, you can add $200 for a 300ml bottle.
First, they served us each a portion of "Special Black Truffle Seared Halibut Salad." The salad had a variety of fresh vegetables at the bottom, and the halibut on top was seared to perfection, making the fish oil more delicious. The black truffle sauce added a layer of fragrance.
The "Eight Pieces of Handmade Sushi" included fatty salmon, refreshing and sweet oilfish, fresh and crispy pond fish, and my favorite, Hokkaido Botan shrimp, which was elastic and sweet. They also fried the shrimp heads to a crispy texture, which was a perfect match with the sake.
There were two main dishes. The "Assorted Tempura" was fried to a golden color, and the batter was crispy without being greasy. I love food with a crispy texture, and this one was done perfectly.
The other main dish was the "Grilled A5 Wagyu Steak." The Wagyu was cooked to about 50% doneness, and the meat was delicate, tender, and flavorful. The grilled beef fat added an extra layer of flavor, which was amazing.
We also ordered a grilled oilfish head, which was my dad's favorite. The outside was crispy and fragrant, while the fish meat inside was still smooth and tender. It was also a great match with the sake.
For the last dish, I chose the "Seafood Hot Pot with Inaniwa Udon." The hot pot contained Hiroshima oysters, large prawns, squid, and Hokkigai. There were also vegetables and tofu at the bottom. Once it boiled, we added the Inaniwa Udon, and the soup was very fresh and sweet.
Of course, we had to end the meal with desserts. We ordered the "Coconut Ice Cream" and "Yuzu Panna Cotta." The former had a strong coconut flavor, while the latter was refreshing and sour.

How to eat sushi in Japan
Sushi is a must-have food in Japan! Luckily, even if you don't speak any Japanese, it is easy to find sushi restaurants, order food and enjoy.
Tip 1: Order from the tablet
Most sushi restaurants have a tablet on each table, which you can set to English, where you simply click on items of food to order. These will then be delivered directly to your table.
Tip 2: Pick off the conveyer
Alternatively, in some restaurants you simply pick sushi plates off the conveyer belt. This is more common in traditional restaurants without tablets. If the restaurant has tablets or a table-order system, be careful not to pick someone else's pre-ordered sushi off the conveyer!
Tip 3: Keep reordering!
You don't need to order everything upfront. Just start with one or two dishes, then keep reordering until you are full. Don't forget desert at the end!
Tip 4: Count up your plates to pay
In more traditional restaurants, simply show your stack of plates to a waitress for them to add up the cost (the plates are colour-coded by price). In restaurants with a tablet, it's all done automatically - just click on the final "receive bill" button and they'll bring over your bill. You usually pay at the counter.

I got the number 2, which was the spicy ramen 🌶 Noodles were chewy. Good texture, not soft or too hard. Loved it. Soup base could have been better, more flavorful and spicy. it was more watery unfortunately. And my friend got the shio ramen 🍜, the most popular item, which the broth was rich, creamy and salty. But still, it could be more flavorful too.
All in all, it is not a bad spot, but it’s not a let’s go out of our way to eat here. it could have been better. However, will still come back to try other stuffs.

Shallow style
As most of us have experienced, the japanese cuisine 🫕 involves, half-cooked meat 🥩 or fish or egg and sushi🍣. They have practiced years together to master that and become eligible to do it. But if at all, if you ever want to take a different route to taste the japanese cuisine then this place is for you. It is near to Middle Huaihai road, amidst many small stores 🏪 and narrow streets. We went to this restaurant after our successful second attempt (if you’re following my posts, then you would know that I was trying to get into this restaurant before😁. They have a different style of Wasabi 🥗, that isn’t really giving you a shock right at the moment you taste it. But take you through a series of experience slowly, with enjoying meat 🍢 after meat dipped in that. We took the in house package, giving us the experience of every dish they have. This japanese restaurant gives you a completely different style altogether, and never miss to pair up with Asahi beer 🍻 . That’s the signature style though 😋 #日本菜 #shanghailife

I hav been wanting to visit this place for almost a year🙃
finally decided to drop by on a random weekend🤷🏻♀️
Surprisingly, the cheapest chicken neck meat skewer 🐔tasted the best ($58) the entire gum smoke in the cylinder kind of gimmick does elevated the dish haha ( shallow me)
But the most expensive item on the menu tastes rather dull ( surf clam $368) 🦪the seasoning is quite usual and the texture is not as chewy as expected.
Oh and the igable wagyu beef n truffle bowl🥩 is definitely value for money ($168) nice choice for those who wanna grab a quick dinner on a lonely night haha (or if you don wanna spend too much on your date 🤣🤣🤣)
Dinner $1600/2 with sake
