However, in the South of France, the only fixed plan was to watch football, and I decided where to go almost spontaneously, so I could travel leisurely. I enjoyed wandering around without makeup, feeling like a local☺️. Especially, Marseille was memorable because, contrary to my worries, it wasn't scary at all, and everyone was living joyfully, embodying the typical laid-back vibe of the South of France. 1. Eating Southern French cuisine at Restaurant Le relais 50 in front of the Old Port of Marseille, the bisque was really delicious✨. 2. On the way to buy flat peaches because I wanted to eat them. The streets of Marseille were so beautiful that I was excited. 3. Taking the little train from Les Petits Trains de Marseille up to Notre-Dame. 4. Watching the Egypt vs Paraguay football match at the Marseille stadium wearing a French T-shirt. 5. The best place in Marseille was Vallon des Auffes🫶🏽. 6. Watching the sunset at the Old Port every day🌅. How wonderful it would be if I could go to the South of France again. Renowned for its underwater depths, Niolon is a delight for diving lovers. A diving center also occupies a former military fort. The view is also remarkable over the whole bay of Marseille and Friuli. A small path accessible from the port allows you to climb up the cliff to have a better view of the Niolon cove. This picturesque cove has a small peaceful beach. You can also discover the adjacent creeks, which are also worth a visit: the creeks of La Vesse, Les Jonquiers and L'Erevine. It's a perfect spot for swimming. While there is no large sandy beach, there is a small gravel beach in the port and flat rocks perfect for sunbathing and cooling off. For hiking enthusiasts, I recommend hiking between Ensuès-La-Redonne and Niolon. I was blown away by the stunning landscapes of the Côte Bleue, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and by the picturesque and colorful houses of the town center of Martigues. Here is my favourite things to do in Martigues: 1️⃣ Stroll through the historic center, which features charming, colorful fisherman's houses flanking the water. Don't miss the famous Miroir aux Oiseaux (Bird Mirror), a photogenic inlet in the L'Isle district that has inspired painters for over a century. 2️⃣ Enjoy the sunset over the open sea from Chapelle de Ste Croix. To the west, the view of the Côte Bleue stretches as far as the lighthouse in La Couronne, the promontory, and to the east the natural harbour of Marseille with its islands. 3️⃣ Visit Fort de Bouc – a listed historical monument since 1930 - accessible by sea only. Arles was one of my favorite places on this trip to the South of France. It's a city that perfectly blends art with its ancient history: you can walk through the spaces where Van Gogh once lived and created, and experience the city walls, theaters, and streets left behind from the Roman era. Van Gogh lived in Arles for only about 14 months, yet this period saw his most prolific creative output, resulting in over 300 works—including approximately 200 oil paintings and over 100 drawings and watercolors—many of which were created here. Transportation🚗: Taking the train from Avignon Centre to Arles is very convenient. Traditional Lebanese family style, fresh ingredients, generous portions. Most importantly, the food is really delicious, a variety of dishes I've never had before, and the boss helped to pack carefully. They also prepared special drinks, which felt strange, but delicious. The boss was super nice, I asked him what incense he ordered, it smelled good, so he gave us a box.
