Mong Kok Sukiyaki Specialist "Gyu Sha" 🐮
Just visited the trending Mong Kok sukiyaki specialist, Gyu Sha, to try their super popular Kagoshima Chuck Roll 240g Sukiyaki Set for Two, and the value for money is honestly incredible! 😋👏 The set is packed with variety: two appetizers (slow-cooked ox tongue + cherry tomato salad), 240g of Kagoshima chuck, ox tongue core, assorted vegetables, Japanese rice or Inaniwa udon, Ranoh eggs, and even dessert. It satisfies every craving in one go!
For the appetizers, the ox tongue was slow-cooked until tender and juicy, with the sauce soaking right through—absolutely mouth-watering 🤤. The cherry tomato salad was sweet, sour, and very refreshing, a perfect palate cleanser with free refills! We also tried the Fragrant Tamagoyaki; the top was lightly charred and topped with bonito flakes. One bite and you’re hit with a rich egg aroma—so smooth and silky~
The star of the show was the Kagoshima chuck rolls. The marbling was gorgeous and the meat was perfectly pink with just the right amount of fat! Once it hits the sukiyaki pot, it absorbs all that savory-sweet sauce. Dip it into the Ranoh egg, and it’s so good you won’t want to stop! The portion is generous enough for everyone to have several slices—a total win for beef lovers. The ox tongue core, though thinly sliced, had a delightful snap to it, elevating the whole experience 😝.
If you follow their IG/FB, you can even get an extra 40g of Hokkaido pork shoulder 🐷. The pork flavor is rich and high quality!
The vegetable platter was also very impressive 🥗, featuring enoki mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, tofu, and more. They all soak up the sukiyaki broth, making them super flavorful so you never get bored! For the main, you can choose between rice or udon; I went with the Inaniwa udon. It soaked up all the broth and stayed nice and chewy. Perfect! To finish, there was a Japanese wagashi—sweet and delicate.
