Mount Qomolangma Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Shigatse Tourism.
When it comes to traveling to Tibet, many people choose Lhasa for their first visit, but they definitely won't miss Shigatse the second time. Shigatse is located between the middle section of the Himalayas and the middle section of the Gangdise-Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, with Mount Everest in its Dingri County. The capital, Samzhubze District, has been established for over 600 years. Samzhubze Dzong and Gyantse Dzong were once political and religious centers.
Mount Everest
For a detailed guide to Everest Base Camp, this one article is enough‼️||One must visit Tibet at least once in their lifetime, and having gone to Tibet, one must witness the golden sunrise on Mount Everest and the vast expanse of the starry sky at least once🌌
I have compiled a super detailed guide to Everest Base Camp, feel free to ask if there's anything you don't understand🌸
⭕️Border Pass
Navigate to the Shigatse Government Service Center, and you can get it processed at the service window on the first floor with your ID card, free of charge.
⭕️Tickets:
Depart from Shigatse and drive along the Shanghai-Nepal Highway for about 6⃣️ hours to the Everest ticket office, 🎫: 160 RMB per person.
Not long after entering the gate is the 108 turns; those who are prone to motion sickness should prepare motion sickness medicine in advance. Along the way, you will pass through the Gawula Pass, which is an excellent vantage point where you can see five 8,000-meter peaks simultaneously. They are Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma🏔
After the 108 turns is the sightseeing bus transfer point, 🎫: 120 RMB per person.
It takes about 1⃣️ hour by sightseeing bus to reach the base camp. There will be checkpoints along the way, so remember to carry your ID card, border pass, and ticket
Photo Check-in📷:
There are four check-in points in total, one on the left climbing up the plank walkway, two horizontal mountain-shaped ones below the walkway, which are also the most popular photo check-in spots, and one in the camp square, but it is farther from Everest. On the right, near the river, there is a stone monument at an altitude of 5200 meters, which is also a good check-in spot.
☀️The highest altitude temple in the world: Rongbuk Monastery is also here.
🎫: 30 RMB per person
Viewing🗻:
The best time to watch the sunset is around eight to nine o'clock. Allow plenty of time, the wind on the mountain is very strong, so be sure to bring hats🕶️ gloves masks, and you can also bring a scarf if needed. There are two free rest points that supply hot water, and there are also self-heating hot pots, grilled sausages, and boiled corn for sale, but seating is limited.
Accommodation🏨:
The accommodation at the camp is in tents⛺️, with the disadvantage of high altitude and inconvenient water use. The advantage is that it is right at the foot of Everest, and on a clear night, you can see the starry sky, and in the morning, you can see the sunrise over Everest🌅
Those who do not wish to stay in tents can take the last bus at 9:30 pm back to Basong Village after watching the sunset. The altitude here is 4200 meters, which is less likely to cause altitude sickness. It is recommended to book in advance, as it can be hard to find a room if you arrive late.
May the sunshine over the Golden Mountain bring good fortune to all who witness it
Mount Everest in the Himalayas | Sunshine over the Golden Mountain
After 108 turns and braving the cold winds at an altitude of 5200 meters
The awe of being there in person is indeed worth the journey 🚩
Mount Everest
I have been up close to Mount Everest three times, but the clearest view was in August 2021 at the base camp in the evening. We took the scenic area bus to the base camp at four in the afternoon and didn't come down until seven in the evening, because most of the time we could see the main peak of Mount Everest, which is a rare and grand occasion. The wind was strong and the temperature was low, but once the tripod was set up, we just waited, until the moon rose. Here are a few photos to share with everyone.

Amazing trip to Tibet and Everest Base Camp
To get there, one must enlist the service of a tour company. They will take care first and foremost your permit to travel. One is recommended to acclimatize days before doing the actual trip around Tibet and heading to see the highest mountain in the world. We stayed at various 4-Star hotels in prior to heading to the base camp where we stayed at local tents with good heating system. The tent owner will take care of you including bedding and food. What an amazing experience!

The Road to Everest Excited but always keep calm
Visiting Everest Base Camp is a thrilling adventure, marked by long hours of driving through some of the most breathtaking landscapes. The journey itself offers spectacular views, highlighting the immense effort and challenges faced in constructing the roads through such rugged terrain.
Excitement builds as you approach the base camp, but it's crucial to remain calm due to the high altitude and low oxygen levels. Altitude sickness is a common concern, so it's important to take precautions. Staying well-hydrated, consuming snacks, and pacing yourself can help maintain your condition and make the experience more enjoyable. Remember to acclimatize properly and listen to your body to ensure a safe and memorable trip to this iconic destination.

Back from Tibet, and the rambling begins
Youth has no price tag, getting injections all the way to Lhasa, the impromptu Tibet trip of two sisters.
Day1-2: A routine of hotel and hospital.
Day3: Barkhor Street and its surrounding areas, indulging in various recommended eateries and fun places suggested by outsiders to outsiders.
Day4: Planned to visit Potala Palace and the Heaven Post Office, as well as Medicine King Mountain, but ended up being brainwashed by an auntie right after lunch into taking a limited one-day 'Tibetan beauty' photo shoot. Originally planned for the last day, by the time we finished choosing photos, all the attractions were closed, leaving us to casually enjoy the night view.
Day5-6: A two-day tour in Nyingchi, can't remember the names of all the places we visited, just know we stayed by the Yarlung Tsangpo River, with a view of Mount Namjagbarwa from the window, a sight not often seen by many, not sure if it counts as 'sunlit golden mountain'.
Day7: What a coincidence, it was November 1st, the start of winter travel in Tibet, with most attractions free of charge. Saved 200 yuan visiting Potala Palace, climbing up to the 13th floor was indeed tiring, but the guided tour was really interesting. The exit leads to the Heaven Post Office and the song 'A'Diao', just a pity that Medicine King Mountain was temporarily closed for renovation. Started visiting popular snack shops, ending up with a mouth ulcer.
Day8-11: A four-day tour to Mount Everest, had planned an additional five-day tour to Namtso, but it was closed due to snowfall during those days. Left some regrets, will visit again when the 'Gate of the Holy Elephant' is open. Along the 318, first visited Yamdrok Lake, a blue that can't be captured by a phone, followed by Karola and others, hung prayer flags, scattered Lungta, stayed in Shigatse, took the classic tourist photo at Everest, got my scalp wind-chapped while squatting for the 'sunlit golden mountain'. It's a pity that the base camp was canceled, where's the promised stargazing and wild disco? The 108 bends in the mountain road could confuse me, casually snapping photos at Qilin Gorge.
Day12: Back to Lhasa, indulging in hotpot and meat, leisurely strolling around
Day13: Leisurely lunch, then the ✈️ back to Shenzhen in the afternoon.
In summary, if you don't go to Tibet, you'll always long to go; when you're in Tibet and not feeling well, you can't wait to go home. So, before entering Tibet, you really need to plan well and rest well. If you ask me if I want to go again, at least not in the near future. If I do, it would be a self-driving trip to Ali!!!

Mount Everest is beautiful, but I won't come again next time, take my advice!
Mount Everest is on the itinerary for days 4-5, and the sunrise on the golden mountain is truly beautiful!
I didn't get altitude sickness on Mount Everest, but I got carsick on the 108 turns going up to Everest 😅
-
Overall, these two days were basically one day going to Everest and one day returning to Shigatse with a few checkpoints on the road, getting off to take some photos, mostly on the road
-
You really need to wear more in winter! Especially going up to Everest, the wind is so strong and cold! Bring a big down jacket, I forgot to bring mine, and I was really freezing 🥶 Hats! Wear knitted and windproof ones! Otherwise, your head will hurt 😣
-
🏠 About accommodation at Everest
We stayed at a guesthouse called Pincuo Redan at the foot of the mountain, which had electric blankets but a rather simple environment~, that night was the first day of the lunar new year, everyone was lively in the living room, even setting off fireworks, it was just a makeshift stay for one night, getting up at 3-4 am to watch the starry sky (truly indescribable shock, can only say it was really beautiful!) Breakfast was dumplings cooked by our driver (it's great to have it during the new year hehe)
-
🔵 About oxygen:
Remember to bring a portable oxygen bottle to the base camp
If you have more severe altitude sickness, I saw they were buying medical oxygen tanks for 500r or 700r 🫨 It really depends on your own physical condition, I didn't use anything, didn't feel much, but people with altitude sickness will feel headache, lack of oxygen, and discomfort, in which case portable oxygen may not be very effective (it depends on your own body condition, if you feel uncomfortable and still need to stay at high altitudes, it can indeed be a bit difficult 😅 so I suggest you still buy it, after all, health is the most important!)
-
🔵 Other
1️⃣ If you get carsick, remember to bring motion sickness medicine! There are 108 turns on the way to the base camp, don't eat too much, don't eat too much! It can really make you dizzy...
2️⃣ Bring some snacks and something to stave off hunger, including at Everest where there's not much to buy, and the journey down the mountain is also long! Otherwise, you'll get really hungry
3️⃣ Bring hand warmers to stick on your phone

Everyone has an Everest in their hearts. Although it is worthwhile to have a big pain, it is not everyones feeling that this nights headache cant be understood. Oh, oh, finally, dawn, the group is also If I don't want to eat, I want to go down the mountain early. I want to know how cold it is outside last night. Look at the thick layer of ice on our car. You don't want to wash your face and brush your teeth at this time. ..
Two northeast girls with me in a house didnt catch up with the Everest Observation Deck yesterday afternoon. Its enough to sneak in the cold morning in the morning, and the weather is not good today. We also saw the wonders of Mount Everest with a hat all the year round. . .
Rongbu Temple, the exit of Everest Base Camp, is the highest temple in Shanghai in the world, and is also a Buddhist monk mixed with local characteristics. . . There is also a hotel in the Rongbu Temple, but the accommodation is not much better, and the price is very expensive!
Didnt go in and watched, just smashed two outside, and saw the top of Mount Everest blocked by a cloud in the distance. This is the Everest wearing a hat. . . After getting on the bus for a while, the star found that his glove was in the base camp, and returned to the road, so that he took another shot at a close distance, as if Everest and we were reluctant!
The Nyingma School is the oldest faction of Tibetan Buddhism. The "Ningma" Tibetan language means "old", which is based on the old secret curse that carries forward the Tubo period. The Rongbu Temple is a very representative one of the existing Nyingma temples. It is a rich one. The local temple is the highest temple in the world and the closest temple to Mount Everest. It is the only place in the past that can provide tourists with accommodation. Although the conditions are tough, it is a great place to watch the Everest.
At present, the outer wall of the Rongbu Temple is still being renovated. When we went there, we saw some construction workers in the renovation.
The temple has a pile of Mani stone piles
mountain carved with six-character mantras. Many old town walls have now become ruins. Although they have no living value, they still have historical value and are worthy of experts to study and discover.
