2026 Tuusula Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in July)

This was my second trip to Finland, so my Finnish friend took me to explore a nearby town ☺️ We went to Tuusula, a charming Finnish town located in the New Region of Finland. If my Finnish friend hadn't shown me, I wouldn't have even known about it! 😂 The town is beautiful, mainly residential, but each red wooden house is very unique ☺️ And because Christmas is approaching, every house was decorated, creating a strong festive atmosphere after the lights were turned on 🎄🎄🎄 So after dark, many couples drive here specifically for dates to enjoy the romantic atmosphere 😝 This town also has a very famous church and museum! 👍🏻👍🏻 #2023TravelWish Hokkaido

Gustavelund is a hotel and conference center near the Lake Tuusula which is actually the provincial lake of Uusimaa province (the one where Helsinki also is located). If you visit the Tuusulanjarvi cultural path it’s one option where you can either stay or just stop for a lunch. During the Christmas season Gustavelund offers a daily Christmas buffet. Around the year the buffet offers seasonal food and a relaxing atmosphere. The service is good and the place is conveniently located just near the old artist district of Tuusula. If you want to have a high profile lunch, then you should maybe select the nearby Krapihovi but Gustavelund offers a good and more affordable option to the highly recommendable Krapihovi cuisine. You can go to Gustavelund by the car from Helsinki following the Tuusula highway (the same which goes to the airport) and just go further until you arrive. Stay in the heart of Helsinki! The Hilton Helsinki Strand totally delivered—ocean view room, super lush vibes, and that breakfast was bang on (seriously, so yum!). Pro tip: grabbing a hire car right from the airport = zero stress and max freedom to explore. Day 1: Roadtrip to Porvoo! This cute little town is only about 50km from Helsinki (Address: Jokikatu, 06100 Porvoo). Meander through Lo Issa and get lost among the quirky pastel riverside buildings. It’s a top spot for cool indie shops, random art corners, and cozy coffee spots that are sooo photogenic ☕✨ Don’t forget your camera—the vibes are truly next level. Day 2: Nature escape! First, cruise over to Lake Tuusula (Tuusulanjärvi, 04300 Tuusula) for some fresh air and chill lakeside walks. Next, treat yourself at Kuusijärvi Smoke Sauna (Kuusijärventie 3, 01260 Vantaa, open daily 6:00–21:00). Warm up in the authentic wood-smoke sauna, then cool all the way down with a dip in the lake—talk about a glow up! 🧖♀️💦 Back in town, hit up Löyly Helsinki (Hernesaarenranta 4, 00150 Helsinki, open Mon–Sat 16:00–23:00, Sun 13:00–21:00). More epic saunas and the cold plunge straight into the harbour = a rush you’ll never forget. The food? Amazing modern Finnish cuisine in a super chill beachfront setting—yaaas! Not-to-miss bonus: swing by Nuuksio National Park (Haukkalammentie 32, 02820 Espoo, open 24/7). Feed the reindeers, wander the forest trails, and just vibe with nature. It’s pure Finnish magic.
