I visited Yokohama Chinatown as a day trip from Tokyo. I accidentally took a regular train instead of the express, so the ride took about an hour and a half but if you're coming from central Tokyo, you can take an express train and get there much faster, almost in half the time. I arrived around noon, and the area was already packed. It was full of life crowded streets, energetic atmosphere, and people everywhere. There were so many restaurants, street food stalls, souvenir shops, and visitors from different countries mixed in with locals. The whole place felt exciting and full of movement. You can find all kinds of souvenirs here, and the variety of food options is endless. But since it gets very crowded, it’s not always easy to find a place to sit or choose a restaurant last-minute. I recommend deciding where to eat in advance if you have something specific in mind. Still, I think it’s best to explore at your own pace. Even if people around you are walking quickly, take your time to enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds. It’s a place full of color and energy, and you’ll get more out of it by just slowing down and soaking it all in. If you come to Yokohama, Chinatown is a certain must-to!

The bakery, however, is located outside! Yokohama Osanbashi Pier, a scenic spot by the bay featuring a wave-like wooden deck and green lawn, is perfect for a leisurely stroll, enjoying the sea breeze, and taking in panoramic views of Minato Mirai city, Yokohama Bay Bridge, and the bay. The highlight of this location is its renovation, transforming the deck into a green public park, which adds natural spaces to the city, reduces heat, and promotes eco-friendly practices. This area is open for everyone to relax or exercise, serving as a prime example of blending port functionality with environmental conservation concepts.

On the first day, we arrived in Yokohama around 3 PM. After checking in, we headed to Vanilla Beans the Roastery. Next, we walked to the Red Brick Warehouse, and then to Leonard's Donuts, a shop originating from Honolulu, Hawaii, known for its Portuguese donuts without holes. We bought an original flavor, which was quite delicious when eaten hot. We continued walking to Tonkatsu Aoki Yokohama Bashamichi. After a satisfying meal, we walked to the Yokohama Air Cabin Sakuragicho Station and took it to Unga Park. Finally, we walked back to the hotel, enjoying the view of the Ferris wheel along the way, which was beautifully lit up at night. The itinerary also includes Yokohama Chinatown and Yamashita Park, which we visited on other days around noon. We took the subway to Yokohama Chinatown and Motomachi-Chukagai, then strolled through Yamashita Park, walking back to the hotel. The cool weather in March made the walk quite pleasant. Compared to Tokyo, I prefer Yokohama a bit more. Although it’s not as bustling as Tokyo, it’s less crowded, making it a more comfortable place to travel. The accommodation prices are also relatively cheaper, and Yokohama has all the shopping destinations one could need.

One of the coolest moments in Odaiba was seeing the life-sized Unicorn Gundam statue! It’s massive and looks like it just stepped out of an anime. The details on the Gundam were insane, and I loved how it switches between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode at scheduled times – complete with lights and moving parts! The plaza around it is also lively, with lots of shops and food spots inside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza. A must-visit for anime lovers and anyone into futuristic vibes!
