When people think about Disney in Japan, they usually think about Tokyo Disney Resort. But one of my favorite Disney shopping experiences was actually in Kyoto 🥹💛 The Disney Store there has its own Kyoto-inspired theme, and the exclusive merchandise is absolutely adorable. I found Mickey and Goofy dressed as the legendary Japanese figures Benkei and Ushiwakamaru, plus other Kyoto-exclusive plushies and keychains that you won't find in regular Disney Stores 🎎✨ I loved that the souvenirs actually reflected the city instead of being the same products sold everywhere. Prices were also quite reasonable. The exclusive plush keychains were around ¥3,300, the larger plushies around ¥5,200, and the small "Urupocha-chan" plushies around ¥2,200 🎁💴 💡 My tip: if you love collecting exclusive souvenirs, always check whether a Disney Store has location-specific merchandise before you visit. Surprisingly, every single room offers an ocean view, allowing you to take in the sea right from the terrace 🌊 The hotel also features the "Food & Drink Station," where you can buy light snacks 24 hours a day. Before checking in, taking a break in the "2nd Room" is highly recommended. Not only is it a relaxing lounge-like space, but you can also take a nap, making it a great spot for those arriving early. Shimogamo Shrine is conveniently located nearby. Explored the Shijo neighborhood in the evening, which has a very lively, local atmosphere. ⸻ Day3|Kyoto 📍Sanju-sangen-do → Fushimi Inari Taisha → Eikan-do Sanju-sangen-do has a unique architectural style, and the Thousand-Armed Kannon inside is quite impressive. Fushimi Inari Taisha is a must-see. The grounds are huge, so it's best to allow more time and walk further up the mountain where there are fewer people. Make sure to allocate plenty of time for Eikan-do; it's beautiful. We arrived 3 minutes before closing and they still let us in. Evening: Kyoto → Nagoya (Shinkansen approx. 30min, ¥200) Stayed at Yamato ROYNET Hotel (not recommended) Kyoto is truly worth several more days; every attraction is unique. ⸻ Day4|Nagoya 📍City Walk, just wandering around It's not crowded, making it perfect for a relaxing stroll. Evening: Nagoya → Fujisawa (approx. 2h, 💴¥500+) Stayed at Smile Hotel Fujisawa (recommended, see my homepage) ⸻ Day5|Kamakura Fujisawa → Kamakura High School Station → Komachi-dori → Hachiman-gu → Great Buddha → Shichirigahama Buying a one-day pass for the Enoden train is super cost-effective. The sea in Kamakura is so healing! I ended up picking some items from Tokyo DisneySea’s “Sparkling Jubilee.” The vibrant blue-themed designs are stunning—perfect for a commemorative gift. The snack tin in the photo is so adorable you'll want to keep it as a trinket box long after the treats are gone. While browsing, I noticed the store is well-stocked with practical items too. From umbrellas and raincoats for sudden showers to cute portable fans for hot days, plus character-themed headwear and sunglasses to help you get into the spirit. 🌿 Since the season is changing, I also spotted some Disney Villains merchandise, which added a fun touch of Halloween to the air. Personally, I highly recommend the sweets as souvenirs 🍪 Beyond the cute tins and boxes, many of the snacks at Tokyo Disney Resort are made by renowned Japanese confectioners. For instance, the cookies and baumkuchen at the "Pastry Palace" are provided by Juchheim.
