Versailles travel guide and discussion

🥐 Let's talk about accommodation first. Seriously, don't just book a hotel in Paris in September based on pictures. To be honest, the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th arrondissements are the most convenient, as you won't have to go out of your way to get to the Louvre, Notre-Dame, Musée d'Orsay, or the Eiffel Tower🏠. September is a transition season; a standard economy double room is about €170–€280, and a comfortable four-star hotel is €280–€500. Prices in the 1st and 8th arrondissements will suddenly spike during Fashion Week, so if you're on a budget, just avoid that week💸. Old buildings often don't have elevators, so don't book anything above the 4th floor if you have large suitcases, or you'll have a breakdown moving them up. Avoid staying near Gare du Nord or parts of the 18th, 19th, and 20th arrondissements late at night. Saving a little on the room rate isn't worth the misery of walking around late at night; your sense of security will just collapse🚕. When booking, check the ratings and distance to the subway on Trip.com; it's most comfortable if it's within an 8-minute walk of a station. 🗼 I've learned the hard way about attractions, so listen up. The Louvre is closed on Tuesdays. If you don't book in advance during peak times, you'll be waiting in line until you question your life choices. You can check Trip.com for packages that include a guide; for just the admission ticket, check elsewhere. If you only want photos, don't try to see everything—just see the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Winged Victory of Samothrace and then leave, otherwise you'll be miserable all day😅. The Eiffel Tower has different prices for the second floor and the summit. Sunset slots are the most photogenic, but it gets cold quickly in September evenings, and you'll regret it if you don't buy tickets in advance. For the Seine cruise, I took the one-hour Bateaux Parisiens tour, which is about US$19 for a specific date and about US$20 for a flexible date; it's worth it for the night cruise to see the lights🌃. I recommend booking the Musée d'Orsay, Rodin Museum, and the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles in advance. Versailles packages on Trip.com start from about US$24 with a guide, or over US$60 for an in-depth tour; if you're short on time, just get the palace ticket. Notre-Dame exterior tours are currently around US$24; entry to the interior is free but requires waiting in line, so don't trust scalpers on the street. 🍷 Don't just go to viral restaurants. Many places reopen in September after the August holidays. The lunch "formule" is the best value; a bistro appetizer plus main course or main course plus dessert is about €18–€25. Dinner is about €30–€55 per person, and a glass of wine is just €6–€9🥖. Drink coffee on the Left Bank in Saint-Germain, buy crepes and macarons in Le Marais, and look for beef stew and onion soup in the Latin Quarter. If you want to take photos of the Eiffel Tower, go for a light meal in the 7th arrondissement. Honestly, Seine dinner cruises start at over US$90 for lunch packages and over US$120 for dinner; save those for anniversaries, there's no need to burn money on them otherwise🍓. Grab a croissant and coffee for breakfast at a bakery for €5–€8; isn't it better to save that money for museum tickets? 🧥 These tips are all hard-won. In September, Paris is about 21–27°C during the day and around 13°C in the morning and evening. A light trench coat with a T-shirt is the safest bet. Wearing just a dress looks good in photos, but you'll be freezing at night🥶. A single subway ticket is a bit over €2, but a 10-ride pass is more cost-effective. Wear your bag on your front; pickpockets are most active near the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Gare du Nord. Montmartre has a lot of stairs, so wearing new shoes will be painful. Take the RER C to Versailles, and remember to buy a separate ticket—don't mix it up with the city subway. Many kitchens close between 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM, so don't try to find a big meal if you miss lunch, or you'll have a breakdown🥲. Book your flights, hotels, and tickets all on Trip.com; having your itinerary, cancellations, and guide bookings all on one page is much smarter than having screenshots everywhere. Some buildings are free during Heritage Days at the end of September, but I don't recommend trying to squeeze into the popular ones; smaller venues are quieter. Overall, don't plan five or six major spots in one day. Paris is meant to be strolled through slowly; rushing around will only make you miserable and result in bad photos📸.

I booked my tickets for the Palace of Versailles through Trip.com, and it was truly a worthwhile experience. While the palace's exterior architecture didn't particularly blow me away, the real highlights are definitely the interior rooms and the sprawling gardens. For those who love shopping, the area surrounding the palace is also worth exploring, as there are many great boutiques that make for a rich experience. However, trying to see the entire garden in one go is quite a challenge. Golf carts are available for rent on-site, but they are a bit pricey, which might make you hesitate. If you don't rent a cart, it's hard to cover the whole grounds in a single day unless you skip the audio guide and just rush through. In summary, the gardens at Versailles are a must-see, and the local shops come highly recommended. I had a fantastic time—just be mindful of your time and energy management! 🌿🌞

The honest truth❗️ France is super romantic, but I really don't recommend just showing up in September–October 😭 I've been to France 3 times and have made mistakes in every season! Let's start with the most honest conclusion: France is beautiful all year round, but September–October is an awkward period where it's easiest to feel "let down." Many people are lured by online photos of yellow sycamore leaves in Paris or the gentle autumn days in the South of France, only to feel emo the moment they land! No hype, no bashing—this post is based on the real experiences of an average traveler. If you're planning to head to France in the second half of the year, be sure to read this before you decide! 🇫🇷 🌟 Let's be fair: It's not that France is bad in September–October; it just "depends on the person." If you're a traveler who prefers slow travel, visiting artsy shops, wine tasting, and exploring old towns, these 2 months actually have unique advantages: ✅ Perfectly avoid the crowds and say goodbye to the summer rush July–August is peak season in France; the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs-Élysées, and Nice beaches are packed, and waiting in line for 2 hours to play for 10 minutes is the norm. Starting in September, tourist numbers drop off a cliff, and by October, it's fully in the off-season transition. You won't have to squeeze through crowds to visit museums, walk through old town streets, or stroll along the Seine. It's easy to take photos without people in them and enjoy an immersive, relaxed French vibe. ✅ Extremely comfortable temperatures, no more suffering from scorching heat The South of France in midsummer can be unbearably hot, with temperatures over 35℃+. You'll be sweating and your makeup will melt within 5 minutes of going out, making it impossible to properly explore towns or hike to see the scenery. In September–October, the average temperature is 12–24℃. It's not stuffy or dry, and the sunlight is gentle and soft. It's the peak season for French-style outfits—trench coats, knitwear, and suits look amazing in photos—and it's super comfortable for walking and shopping. ✅ Beautiful autumn filter, maximum city gentleness Starting in late September, the sycamore trees along the streets of Paris slowly turn yellow, and the Tuileries Garden, Luxembourg Gardens, and Montmartre are filled with golden-brown fallen leaves. Sunlight filters through the branches, giving all of Paris a built-in vintage movie filter. Every photo looks like a scene from a K-drama or a lazy, stylish French film. It's a gentle texture that spring and summer just can't provide. ✅ Exclusive romance of wine season, a foodie's delight September–October is the grape harvest season in Burgundy and Bordeaux! Estates open up for picking, wine tasting, and tours of the winemaking process. It's the best time of year for a vacation at a French winery—niche and high-end. Experienced travelers who know how to travel always choose this time. ❌ Major warning! Average travelers, definitely don't rush into this! The fatal flaws of September–October With so many pros, why do I still not recommend it for average tourists or first-time visitors to France? Because there are too many hidden pitfalls that can ruin your entire travel experience! 1. Unpredictable weather, sudden rainy season, photos ruined The internet only raves about the beauty of autumn in France; no one tells you that September–October is the rainy season as the seasons change! Especially in Paris, northern Normandy, and Strasbourg, overcast, cloudy, and drizzly days are the norm. There are no clear blue skies or bright sunshine like in spring and summer; the sky is often gray and foggy. Occasional sunny days are fleeting, followed by continuous light rain. The wind is super strong, and it's very humid. The cold, damp feeling is worse than just a drop in temperature. Your carefully planned outfits and makeup won't look good in photos on rainy days, and the romantic Paris you expected turns into a gray, oppressive city. The South of France is relatively better, but it also rains frequently in mid-to-late October, and the wind by the sea is fierce. You can't leisurely stroll along the coastlines of Nice or Cannes. 2. Days get shorter rapidly, effective sightseeing time cut in half This is the biggest hidden pitfall of September–October!! In summer, France has very long days; it's still bright at 10 PM, so you can spend the whole day visiting attractions and getting things done. But starting in September, it gets dark noticeably earlier. By October, dusk starts after 4 PM, and it's completely dark by 5 PM! Your effective sightseeing time per day is only about 6 hours. France has so many attractions: the Louvre, Versailles, the Seine, old towns, beaches, small towns... Your itinerary gets squeezed tight. You don't dare sleep in, and you're rushing around in the afternoon. There's no "relaxed French travel" vibe at all; you're just exhausted from rushing every day! 3. Polarized scenery, peak beauty is all offline Many people think all of France is beautiful in autumn, but they are dead wrong! ✅ France in spring/summer: Lavender and sunflower fields everywhere in the South of France, green fields, crystal-clear lakes, and deep blue seas. The whole country is vibrant and full of life—this is the "beautiful, romantic France" that everyone knows. ❌ France in September–October: The flower fields in Provence have completely finished blooming, and the fields are withered and desolate, with zero "Instagrammable" filter; Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel, and major national parks have withered vegetation, and the scenery is monotonous and dull; Only the sycamore trees in downtown Paris look good. Aside from city streetscapes, the natural scenery is basically all offline! If it's your first time in France and you want to see flower fields, blue seas, and healing countryside, you will be 100% disappointed! 4. Serious price premiums in September, very low cost-performance Many people think September is the off-season and prices are cheap, but the reality is the exact opposite! September is packed with Paris Fashion Week and various international exhibitions. Hotel and flight prices remain high, and homestays in popular areas have serious price premiums. There is absolutely no off-season value. Prices don't drop until mid-to-late October. It's basically a month where you get no beautiful scenery, no long days, and it's expensive—a total "sucker's" month to travel. 5. Many activities shut down, travel variety greatly reduced Entering autumn, many unique outdoor activities in France gradually stop operating: All water activities on the beaches of the South of France close, and open-air markets in small towns are significantly reduced; Some rural hiking trails, riverside leisure facilities, and outdoor exhibitions close periodically; Many niche "Instagrammable" spots and outdoor cafes shorten their business hours. If you want to experience a rich French vacation vibe, autumn is really far inferior to spring and summer! ✅ Ultra-precise France travel "do's and don'ts" list | Beginners can just copy this 💛 [Go for it · Golden best time: June–August] France's beauty is at its peak all year! Sunny days everywhere, very long days, flower fields everywhere, lush green vegetation, and deep blue seawater. All attractions, markets, and outdoor activities are open. Whether it's a city tour of Paris, wandering through small towns in the South of France, a beach vacation, or visiting wineries, the experience is maxed out. For your first trip to France, this is the time to choose! 💛 [First choice for niche artsy types: Late September–Early October] Only suitable for: wine tasting, visiting shops, taking photos, slow-paced Paris strolling, and in-depth artsy travelers. Not suitable for: first-time visitors, those wanting to see panoramic scenery, those rushing through an itinerary, or family vacations. 💔 [Absolute avoid period: Late October–November] Continuous rain, temperatures plummeting, desolate scenery, very short days. The travel experience completely collapses—beginners, stay away! 📍 Must-save for beginners | Classic must-visit attractions in France all year round (suitable for all 4 seasons) ▫️ Downtown Paris ✔️ Eiffel Tower: Beautiful at sunset on sunny days; the vibe is halved on cloudy days ✔️ Louvre: Can be visited indoors all year round, unaffected by weather ✔️ Seine River cruise: Summer evening breeze is legendary; autumn is cold, windy, and a poor experience ✔️ Montmartre: Autumn yellow leaves are super romantic, great for photos ▫️ Small towns in the South of France ✔️ Provence: Only recommended in summer! No flower fields in autumn, not recommended ✔️ Nice's Angel Bay, Cannes seaside: Blue seas and skies in spring/summer; windy and rainy in autumn ▫️ Classic outskirts ✔️ Palace of Versailles: Outdoor gardens are beautiful in spring/summer; vegetation is withered and average in autumn ✔️ Bordeaux/Burgundy wineries: Exclusive peak season in September–October, perfect for wine tasting ✍️ Final heartfelt summary France is truly a romantic country worth visiting for a lifetime. Spring and summer are a healing fairy tale, winter is a gentle fairy tale, only autumn is the most awkward! ✅ If it's your first time going, you want to check off the most beautiful parts of France, and you want to see blue seas, flower fields, and blue skies 👉 Definitely don't choose September–October! Prioritize June–August! ✅ If you've been to France in spring/summer, prefer a slow, artsy life, and are coming specifically for autumn scenery + red wine 👉 September–October is fine to go; it's niche, less crowded, and the vibe is maxed out. Don't blindly follow the crowd; choose the right time to encounter the most romantic France✨

#citybreakvsnatureescape My time around the Versailles Gardens showed me that a city-focused trip doesn’t have to mean staying surrounded by buildings all day. After exploring the palace, I found the gardens to be the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the outdoors. I walked along the grand avenues, stopped near the fountains, and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere away from the busiest areas. The combination of royal history and expansive greenery made the experience feel completely different from a normal urban sightseeing day. #citybreakvsnatureescapeape

Hotel🏨 | The 13 Palace Address | Cotai Reclamation Area, Macau Many locals in Macau know the hotel's predecessor—"The 13" or "Louis XIII" hotel. It was a legendary project that wore the words "ultimate luxury" on its sleeve, with a total investment of US$1.6 billion at the time and an impressive fleet of 30 custom Rolls-Royce Phantoms. At the end of 2024, local Macau investor Lu Jiaxi took over the keys and invested significant capital for a comprehensive upgrade—featuring a brand-new golden facade, refurbished interiors, and a more resonant name: "The 13 Palace." · ——repo📃——— 【Location🗺️】 The hotel is located in the southern part of the Cotai Reclamation Area in Macau, near the Macau Golf & Country Club, Macau's only karting track, and the Giant Panda Pavilion. The hotel offers a luxury car transfer service via the Maextro S800 (additional fees apply). 【Design🌟】 The hotel's official positioning is straightforward—Macau's ultimate private palace. This palatial feel isn't just thrown together; the overall visual design was crafted by international design master Peter Marino, who has designed flagship stores for numerous ultra-luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Bulgari. 【Elevator🛗】 The 13 Palace has truly taken "private vacationing" to the extreme. The guest elevator system alone sets it apart from other hotels in Macau. Their elevators are configured by room number, with each room having its own dedicated elevator. Once inside, there's no need to press a floor button; simply swipe your card to go directly to your room. You won't encounter other guests during the ride. This configuration is extremely rare in hotels worldwide, maximizing privacy to the fullest—something many hotels with room rates over 10,000 cannot achieve. 【Rooms🛏️】 The reason they are called villa-style suites is mainly because the rooms are essentially split-level or duplex designs, and all start with two bedrooms. The corridor leading to the master bedroom connects to the second bedroom and a public bathroom. This Earl Suite can easily accommodate 4 adults and 2 children. 【Public Area🛋️】 The vertical green wall can lower the indoor temperature by about 5°C and absorb 75% of PM2.5. In Macau's hot and humid weather, this is a genuine "green high-tech feature" and one of the most photogenic spots in the entire hotel. The indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor hot spring, and gym are all on this floor, making them quite memorable amenities among the many luxury hotels in Macau. 【Restaurant🍴】 Residents of Zhuhai and Macau are no strangers to the "Jin Yue Xuan" and "Xie Cheng" brands. Their ingredients and quality are guaranteed, representing high-end Cantonese restaurants in this area. The private rooms at this Jin Yue Xuan are already luxurious enough, and the dome in the main dining hall is designed in a European palace style, giving the illusion of walking into the Palace of Versailles. This must be what "stumbling into a royal palace" feels like! 【Package🎁】 The new Trip.com super launch products are as follows: CNY 1,899/night, CNY 3,354/2 nights for the Earl Suite (1-2 nights) + breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children + other benefits; CNY 4,020/2 nights for the Earl Suite (2 consecutive nights) + breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children + MOP 1,000 dining voucher for the Crystal Hall + other benefits. Valid until February 17, 2027. Please refer to the details page for surcharges on weekends and public holidays. Their reference calendar room rate is consistently 2,500+, while the 2-night consecutive stay package is only 3,300+, which is about 35% off. If you plan to dine at the Crystal Hall, you can also purchase the package that includes a MOP 1,000 dining credit. Paying an extra CNY 666 is equivalent to getting a 20% discount on the dining credit. If there are many guests, it is recommended to buy the package with breakfast for 4 adults and 2 children, priced at CNY 2,232/night or CNY 4,021/2 nights. It is worth mentioning that all packages include the benefit of early check-in at 2:00 PM and late check-out at 1:00 PM, subject to room availability. You will also receive a complimentary 750ml bottle of French Louis Perdrier Brut Excellence sparkling wine, free welcome drinks, and a complimentary first round of the minibar. · ————— Macau's luxury hotel scene never lacks competitors, but there are very few that "carve out a unique niche" like The 13 Palace. For a villa-style suite hotel where the standard room is a 185 sqm two-bedroom suite with a private elevator for each unit, the current opening packages offer excellent value for money. In the context of Macau, this price is truly a "great deal."

#photovsrealitytravel Okay… I knew Versailles was supposed to be huge. But I definitely didn’t realize it would be THIS huge. 😂 In photos, it looks like a beautiful palace. In real life? It just keeps going. And going. And going. 😭 The palace itself is massive, but then you walk outside and see the gardens… And suddenly you realize you’re going to need a whole lot more time — and probably better shoes. 😂 Everywhere you look, there’s another building, another fountain, another garden stretching into the distance. 📸 Photos: “Wow, what a beautiful palace.” 👀 In real life: “Wait… WHERE DOES THIS PLACE END?!” Honestly, Versailles is one of those places where photos really don't show you the scale. You have to stand there to understand just how ridiculously grand it is. ✨ #PalaceOfVersailles #Versailles #FranceTravel #ParisTravel #TravelMoments #PhotoVsReality #EuropeTravel #TravelInspiration #BucketList #TripMoments

#citybreakvsnatureescape Walking through the Versailles Gardens gave me a completely different feeling from exploring the grand palace itself. After taking in the impressive architecture and busy rooms, I enjoyed stepping outside and wandering along the long paths surrounded by carefully designed gardens, fountains, and open spaces. I spent time simply walking without a strict plan, which made the visit feel much more relaxed. The contrast between the historic city-style attraction and the peaceful outdoor landscape made Versailles a great fit for #citybreakvsnatureescapeape.

ns This is Château de Josselin—a French castle that looks like it was plucked straight from a fantasy movie set. 🏰✨ Just wow! Every tower makes you want to stop and snap a million photos. 😍 Located in the town of Josselin in Brittany (Address: Place de la Congrégation, 56120 Josselin, France), the castle rises majestically above the River Oust. The entire scene is magical, especially at sunset when the towers reflect off the water. 📸 With nearly 1,000 years of history, the castle has been destroyed and rebuilt over the centuries. Today, Château de Josselin is a stunning mix of a rugged medieval fortress and elegant Renaissance architecture. But here’s the coolest part: the Rohan family still lives there, and they’ve owned it for centuries! 😲 Parts of the château are open to the public (usually from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, but double-check current hours on trip.com before you go). You can explore the historic interiors, wander the grounds, and enjoy the breathtaking gardens. Make sure to head down to the river for the best view—the reflection of the stone walls and towering spires against the sky is incredible! 🤯 Josselin is a perfect stop for a road trip through Brittany. If you prefer authentic castles over gilded palaces like Versailles, add this to your itinerary. 🏰 Question: Do you prefer the medieval vibes of Château de Josselin or the opulence of Versailles? I can see the original works of Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso at such a close distance. That feeling is completely different from reading it on your phone or in a picture book. Standing in front of a painting, you can see the brushstrokes, the colors, the marks on the canvas, and you suddenly understand: the original work really has a power that replicas cannot give. When Van Gogh's work is seen live, it is not that "beautiful" shock, but there is a very heavy sense of emotion. You’d think he wasn’t simply painting a person, but rather the exhaustion, the silence and the very real parts of life. Monet was a completely different feeling. From a distance it’s a landscape, up close it’s all colors and brushstrokes, but step back and it suddenly becomes sea, wind and light again. At that moment it will feel that what he paints is not the landscape itself, but the feeling one feels when one sees it. But it was Picasso that stopped me the most. There’s really a sense of being sucked in when you see his work live, not by looking at “likeness and dissimilarity,” but at how he breaks people, emotions, and structures all to pieces and puts them back together into a new world. Before, when I saw art in France, I was more surrounded by the thick sense of history of the Louvre and Versailles; Outside is the harbor, sunshine and city, inside are these master originals, this contrast is instead fascinating. If coming to Sydney, I really recommend keeping the Art Gallery of New South Wales half a day, or even a whole day. It’s not the stressful art gallery that’s great for slow walking, slow viewing. Don’t rush blindly to the Palace of Versailles in Paris! First-timers spend 2 hours in line and buy the wrong tickets, wasting half a day just waiting… Here’s a 2026 tested guide for booking + avoiding pitfalls + hidden spots. Newcomers can copy this directly✨ 🎫 Ticket booking | Buying the wrong ticket is a waste of money Always buy from the official website for the most reliable option. Palace + garden combined ticket €28.5, palace only €19.5, garden charges extra in peak season. Be sure to book 3–7 days in advance. There are basically no tickets on site. Most third-party discounted tickets are nonrefundable, so be cautious! Use entrance A for priority access with a reservation. Entrance C has the longest lines for on-site ticket purchase. EU students under 26 enter the palace free but must buy a separate garden ticket. ⏰ Opening hours | Avoid these common mistakes The palace is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, last entry at 5:50 PM, closed all day Monday. The garden is open 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Check the schedule for music fountain days separately. Pro tip: arrive before 9:00 AM on weekdays or enter after 3:00 PM to avoid crowds and tour groups. 🚶 Efficient visit | See the main areas in half a day Head straight to the main palace upon entry. The Hall of Mirrors and the king and queen’s suites are the highlights. Follow the guided route to avoid backtracking. The garden is worth exploring in detail on music fountain days in spring and summer; in fall and winter, you can simplify your visit. The Grand and Petit Trianon palaces are less crowded and beautiful. They’re included in the combined ticket and worth a visit if you have time. The official app offers free Chinese audio guides, so you don’t need to rent a device on site, saving money. 💡 90% of visitors don’t know these fun facts Fifteen minutes before closing in summer, the crowds clear out, and the palace’s golden gate catches the sunset’s golden light—a secret photo spot locals love. Here’s a little gossip: the palace kitchen was far from the dining hall, and with thousands dining at once, the food was cold by the time it reached the king’s table. Also, the Hall of Mirrors was once a top “smuggled” item. Mirror-making technology was monopolized by Venice, but France poached craftsmen to create over 400 mirror panels. The hall’s cost was equivalent to 15 tons of silver! ⚠️ Common pitfalls to avoid It takes over 40 minutes to get here from the city center, so don’t be late for your reservation. Flash photography and touching exhibits are prohibited inside the palace. Large luggage should be stored in lockers. Food and drinks inside the park are overpriced, so bring your own water and snacks. You can picnic on the garden lawns. Beware of unauthorized guides and fast-track tickets at the entrance—they’re all scams. Only trust official channels! 📍 Transportation: Take RER line C to Versailles Château station, then a 5-minute walk to the main entrance. ✅ Summary: Buy combined tickets in advance on the official website → use the reservation entrance → visit on weekdays off-peak → wait for the sunset at a hidden spot. Follow this to cut your queue time by at least 1 hour and efficiently visit the royal palace. Remember to save this before you go!

Ladies!! Just got back from Paris and still can’t recover😭 How amazing is Paris in July? The sun stays out until after 10 PM, the air is filled with the sweet scent of linden flowers, and more locals than tourists are enjoying drinks by the Seine—this is the real Paris! · 🏨 Where to stay first ⛰️ The hotel is tucked away in a cobblestone alley in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, less than a minute’s walk from the alley entrance. It perfectly avoids the busy traffic of Boulevard Saint-Germain. Opening the door feels like stepping onto an old movie set ⛰️ The room has two French floor-to-ceiling windows plus a small wrought-iron balcony with ridiculously good natural light☀️ The balcony faces south, and waking up to sunlight in the morning is pure bliss ⛰️ There’s a pebble garden downstairs🌿 Breakfast is served right in the garden, next to a century-old wall covered in ivy. Drinking coffee while listening to birdsong feels so luxurious✨ · 🚇 2026 Paris transportation tips (tested) Don’t waste money on single tickets! The t+ single ride ticket now costs €2.50, and it’s even more expensive at €2.80 if you buy on the train ✅ If staying 3 days or more, get the Navigo Easy card. The card costs €2, and a 10-ride pack is €21.90, which saves a lot compared to single tickets ✅ If staying a full week (Monday to Sunday), buy the Navigo weekly pass. It covers zones 1–5 for €31.60, including Versailles, Disneyland, and Charles de Gaulle Airport—an absolute bargain ✅ Download the Île-de-France Mobilités app to buy tickets and scan codes on your phone—no need to queue for paper tickets ⚠️ Paris metro has no air conditioning! July rush hour can be stiflingly hot. Avoid traveling between 5 PM and 7:30 PM · 🎫 2026 ticket prices updated (don’t get fooled by old guides) 📍 Louvre Full price €32 for non-EU visitors, €22 for EU residents Closed on Tuesdays! Open until 9 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays. Highly recommend the evening visit—half the crowds and no pushing to see the Mona Lisa Currently hosting the "Michelangelo/Rodin" special exhibition, ending July 20. If you can make it, go for it 📍 Eiffel Tower Elevator to second floor €23.50 | Elevator to top €36.70 Stairs to second floor €14.20 (for those with good stamina, much shorter lines) Tickets go on sale 60 days in advance on the official site. But you must book a time slot in advance on the official website. Walk-ins are almost never allowed · 🗺️ Left bank deep dive (no rushed sightseeing) ❶ Luxembourg Gardens → Pantheon → Shakespeare and Company This route takes about half a day. Shakespeare and Company now limits visitors and has lines, so go right at 10 AM on a weekday when it opens ❷ Musée d’Orsay Ticket €16, way less crowded than the Louvre! All the Impressionist paintings are here—Monet’s Water Lilies, Van Gogh’s self-portraits… On the fifth floor, behind the big clock, there’s a hidden viewpoint looking through the clock face at the Seine—absolutely breathtaking🥹 ❸ Walk along the Seine instead of taking a boat tour Honestly, instead of spending €20 to squeeze into a one-hour boat tour, walk from Pont Neuf along the riverbank to Pont Alexandre III at sunset. The golden light on the water, locals playing guitar and singing on the shore—it’s a thousand times more romantic than any paid activity · 💡 Hard-earned tips 🔸 Don’t forget the city tax! In 2026, Paris charges a tourist tax based on hotel rating, ranging from €0.65 to €15.60 per person per night, paid at the hotel. Remember to budget for it 🔸 Sunscreen is a must in July. Paris UV rays are stronger than you think. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen 🔸 Lunch at restaurants is half the price of dinner. Many bistros offer lunch sets for €18–25 with appetizer + main course. The same dishes cost twice as much at dinner 🔸 The Paris Museum Pass 4-day ticket costs €76. It pays off quickly with visits to the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Versailles, and Arc de Triomphe. Tested and highly recommended 🔸 Tap water is safe to drink! The green drinking fountains on Paris streets provide direct drinking water. Bring a cup to fill up instead of paying €3 for bottled water

The two major iconic landmarks of Bandar Seri Begawan are the national mosque with a golden dome floating on a lake, and the world's largest functioning royal palace. The two locations are not far apart and can be combined with the Water Village for a one-day tour. This article provides a comprehensive introduction to the features, visiting rules, and practical guides of both attractions. 1. Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien Known as the most beautiful mosque in Southeast Asia, it was completed in 1958 and named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei. It is the symbol of the capital city, located right next to Kampong Ayer (the Water Village). An artificial lagoon surrounds the entire building, and its white walls and golden domes reflect on the water, making it a classic photography hotspot in Brunei. Unique Architectural Highlights Pure Gold Main Dome The main dome is 52 meters high and covered with 3.3 million pure gold leaves. It glitters brightly under the sun, and this golden dome can be seen from everywhere in the city. Paired with cream-white marble minarets, it blends Mughal Islamic and Italian Renaissance styles, creating a unique and stunning look. Premium Global Building Materials The marble on the floor is imported from Italy, the granite walls from China, the crystal chandeliers and stained glass from the UK, and the prayer carpets from Saudi Arabia and Belgium. Every detail exudes exquisite luxury. Replica Royal Barge on the Lagoon A giant stone replica of an ancient royal barge is anchored in the artificial lagoon, recreating the vessel used for royal Quran recitation ceremonies. It is a classic foreground for photos, and the reflections on the water at dusk are absolutely breathtaking. Main Prayer Hall Inside The dome features gold-painted carvings, and massive crystal chandeliers hang from above. The spacious hall can accommodate thousands of worshippers. Non-Muslims are allowed to visit during non-prayer times. Visiting Rules & Opening Hours · Opening Hours: 8:30–11:30, 14:00–17:00. Tourists are not allowed during prayer times. Friday mornings are mostly reserved for worshippers, so visiting hours are shortened. · Dress Code: Long sleeves and long pants/skirts are required; shoulders and knees must be covered. Shorts, tank tops, and off-the-shoulder outfits are prohibited. Black robes and headscarves are available for free loan at the entrance. · Etiquette: Take off your shoes before entering the hall, do not step on the carpets specifically used for prayer, do not photograph worshippers without permission, and keep quiet. · Tickets: Free admission. Best Time to Visit 16:30–18:00 (Dusk): The setting sun shines obliquely on the golden dome, and the reflection on the lake turns a soft golden hue. During the blue hour, the night lights come on, creating the most captivating atmosphere for photography. 9:00–11:00 (Morning): Fewer tourists and soft lighting allow you to admire the architectural details up close. 2. Istana Nurul Iman (The Royal Palace of Brunei) It is the world's largest functioning residential royal palace, ranking among the world's six major palaces alongside the Forbidden City and the Palace of Versailles. It is the official residence of the current Sultan and the seat of the prime minister's office. Covering an area of 120 hectares, it features a total of 1,788 rooms decorated with 22K gold. Surrounded by the Brunei River on three sides, its majestic Malay-style golden roofs are spectacular from afar. Core Features of the Palace The overall design blends traditional Malay, Islamic, and modern architectural elements, with the main dome also gilded in gold. Inside, crystal chandeliers, furniture, and wall reliefs are extensively inlaid with gold. State banquet halls, a royal gallery, gardens, and stables are all available. However, it is generally closed to the public and only offers limited access throughout the year: Hari Raya (Eid al-Fitr): Opens for 3 consecutive days after the end of Ramadan. Tourists can enter the palace for free, queue up for a chance to shake hands with the Sultan and royal family members, and even receive a small souvenir. National Day (February 23): Open to the public for a short period. For the rest of the year (over 300 days), visitors can only take panoramic photos from outside the gates or from the riverside park. Best Viewing and Photography Spots Taman Persiaran Damuan (Damuan Park): Located across the river, a few hundred meters from the palace entrance, offering an unobstructed view of the entire golden palace and the riverscape. Best for sunset photography. Outside the Main Palace Gates: You can take close-up shots of the golden domes, but cannot enter the grounds. Distant View from a Water Taxi: Take a small boat from the Water Village along the Brunei River; capturing the palace's reflection from the water offers a unique charm. Practical Information · Address: West of the city center, a 10-minute drive from the mosque. There are no public buses, so chartering a car or taking a taxi is recommended. · Tickets: Free to view from the outside on regular days; free entry during Hari Raya (no reservation needed, just line up). · Dress Code: Even though you can't enter, avoid overly revealing clothing in public areas in this Islamic country. 3. One-Day Itinerary for Both Attractions (Combined with the Water Village) 09. 00 Visit Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien, walk around the lake to photograph the stone barge and the golden dome's reflection. 10. 30 Walk to the riverside pier and take a water taxi to explore Kampong Ayer (Water Village), climb the Cultural Tower for a panoramic view of the wooden stilt houses. 14:00 Grab a quick lunch in the city center, then drive to the park across from Istana Nurul Iman. 16:00 Capture panoramic shots of the palace at dusk, then return to the mosque at sunset to photograph its beautiful night reflection. 4. Helpful Travel Tips Brunei is a strict Islamic country, so dress conservatively throughout your trip. Shorts and off-the-shoulder tops are not suitable for city attractions. Neither attraction has many street vendors, so bring your own bottled water and sun protection. Since there are few taxis in the city, booking a chartered car for a full-day tour in advance is highly recommended. This allows you to cover the mosque, the Water Village, the palace, and the Royal Regalia Museum in one go. If your trip happens to fall during Hari Raya, prioritize visiting the palace. For regular trips, focus on the mosque and just snap photos of the palace from a distance. The pure white floating mosque symbolizes Brunei's serene faith, while the massive, gold-adorned palace represents the nation's wealth and royal majesty. One tranquil, the other luxurious, these two places allow you to fully grasp Brunei's gentle yet opulent character in just half a day, making them absolute must-visit landmarks in Bandar Seri Begawan.
