Wantage (England)
Wantage is a historic market town located in Oxfordshire, England, nestled at the foot of the Berkshire Downs in the Vale of White Horse. It is highly regarded for its rich history, independent shopping scene, and proximity to stunning English countryside.
Known as a place where Alfred the Great was born. He was King of Wessex and became the first monarch to adopt the title "King of the Anglo-Saxons" around 886, defending his kingdom against Vikings and laying the groundwork for a unified England. While often regarded as the first king (reigned 871–899), he did not rule all of England; his grandson, Athelstan, is generally considered the first true King of England.
If you want to feel a history come to visit it. It has couple of churches, small square in center with Alfred sculpture in it. The Wantage Town Market operates there twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
In addition you can find a museum as well as a lot of small shops and charity shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.
