Kansai's Premier Cherry Blossom Sea - A Spring Stroll at Sewari-tei
Located in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, "Sewari-tei" is one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the Kansai region. Every spring, the 1.4-kilometer-long cherry blossom path blooms on both sides of the riverbank, forming a spectacular cherry blossom tunnel, earning it the title of Kansai's number one cherry blossom sea.
Getting there is very convenient. Take the Keihan Electric Railway to "Iwashimizu-Hachimangu Station," and it's about a 10-minute walk from there. There's a convenience store near the station where you can stock up on drinks, bento boxes, or snacks, making it a great choice for a picnic. During the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, a ticket booth is set up at the entrance (admission fee: 100 yen), and a centralized garbage collection area is provided. However, there are no trash bins along the route, so it's recommended to bring your own garbage bags to keep the area clean.
Sewari-tei not only boasts a high density of cherry blossoms with lush tree shapes but also offers a dual scenery of the cherry blossom tunnel on the embankment and the open grassy area below. Whether you're strolling and taking photos or laying out a picnic mat to quietly enjoy the view, you can create your own piece of springtime paradise. During the Cherry Blossom Festival, food stalls are set up, selling local snacks like takoyaki, yakisoba, and skewers, allowing visitors to enjoy delicious food while admiring the blossoms. Photography enthusiasts flock here, drawn by the quintessential Japanese atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for couples, families, and friends to spend a leisurely afternoon together.
