Fermented bean curd chicken wings are a must-try snack in Chaoshan
"I ate fermented bean curd chicken wings for two days in Chaozhou," said a friend. I also ate two main meals and faced various snacks in the food street. What I wanted to eat the most was fermented bean curd chicken wings. My friend took us to the store where he ate for two days. When there are many people, you have to queue for two hours. Sometimes you may not be able to buy it after queuing, it may be sold out. When I went there, it was not yet cooked. You can't pay $ in advance, it is weighed, 35r per pound, about 7r per piece. It takes a long time to fry a pot, and there are people coming later. I just squatted in front of the pot, and the guy in charge of the chef is quite handsome. The new pot was basically taken by us. The fermented bean curd red of the chicken wings is really beautiful and appetizing. This chicken wing made with secret fermented bean curd red juice is a special delicacy in Jieyang. There are six branches in Chaozhou. I have also eaten here in Shenzhen. It is more authentic. It is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, full of pot flavor. Eat it while it is hot. It doesn't taste so good when it is cold. #Chaozhou Food #Local Food #Local Special Snacks
Chaoshan | A dreamlike journey of ancient charm and delicious flavors✨ Hey guys, Chaoshan is truly worth a visit! I just returned from a trip there and can't wait to share this incredible guide with you~ 🚄 Transportation: High-speed rail connections to either Shantou Station or Chaoshan Station are both convenient. Shantou Station is close to the city center, while Chaoshan Station offers convenient access to Chaozhou Ancient Town. Choose your preferred location. 🏠 Accommodation: In Shantou, we recommend B&Bs near the park, like Yinmi B&B. For over 100 yuan per person, you can stay in a traditional Chinese-style house with arcades, which is incredibly photogenic. In Chaozhou, choose accommodations around Paifang Street for super convenient travel. 🌟 Must-See Attractions 1. Shantou Park: Free! The complex of Republican-era arcade buildings feels like a step back in time. From the second-floor rooftop of K Coffee, you can take panoramic photos of the "Shantou" sign and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Pavilion – a truly atmospheric experience. 2. Nan'ao Island: Known as the "Little Maldives," the bridge toll is 96 yuan. The island boasts breathtaking scenery, including stunning blue skies and azure seas. The Tropic of Cancer landmark tower is a popular Instagram-worthy spot. 3. Chaozhou Archway Street: Open 24/7, this is the central axis of Chaozhou's ancient city, showcasing intangible cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and local delicacies. Its stone archways and Nanyang arcades blend Eastern and Western influences, and you'll also find traditional handicraft shops selling Chaozhou embroidery and hand-pulled teapots. 4. Guangji Bridge: One of China's four great ancient bridges, admission is 20 yuan. At 5:30 PM, you can witness the spectacular "crossing the river and dismantling the bridge," and at 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM, there are stunning light shows. 5. Kaiyuan Temple: The oldest temple in eastern Guangdong, free admission. Located at the entrance to Archway Street, the architecture is simple and elegant, with intricate carvings on stone pillars and brick walls, imbued with historical charm. 🍱 Recommended Dining 1. Xinghua Wuji Beef Hotpot: A must-try! The beef is tender and juicy, and the scallops, snowflakes, and raw meatballs dipped in shacha sauce are so fragrant you'll stomp your feet. It's recommended to arrive before 11:00 AM, otherwise you might have to wait in line. 2. Jin Ershun: This Chaoshan "poison" is truly deserving of its reputation. Fresh shrimp and mantis shrimp are marinated raw and paired with white porridge for a truly delicious experience. However, those with stomach issues should be cautious. 3. Zhenqian Street Fermented Bean Curd Chicken Wings: Crispy skin and rich fermented bean curd aroma. A burst of juicy goodness is unforgettable. 4. Guantang Xianxian Fish Sashimi: The sashimi is served with a special sauce and mint, creating a refreshing experience that opens the door to a new world. 5. Yang Ji Almond Tea: A combination of sesame paste and almond tea, warm and smooth, sweet and delicious. Found on Longyan South Road. 💡 Unique Cultural Experiences 1. Chaozhou Opera: Change into a cheongsam at Zaiyang Teahouse and listen to Chaozhou Opera while sipping Kung Fu tea. Experience the charm of traditional opera and immerse yourself in the daily life of a young lady. 2. Yingge Dance: If you're lucky, you might catch a Yingge Dance performance on Paifang Street. Dancers, wielding wooden sticks, perform vigorous and powerful movements, imbued with Chaoshan characteristics. 3. Gongfu Tea: Chaoshan people love tea, and Kung Fu tea tables can be found everywhere. Find a small shop, watch the owner pour the tea, and savor a cup of fragrant Kung Fu tea, immersing you in the refined life of Chaoshan people. 📸 Photography Tip: Wear light-colored or retro-style clothing. These photos are especially beautiful in places like arcades, ancient streets, and temples. Bring props like folding fans and cheongsam umbrellas to enhance your photos. A must-read guide for Chaozhou travelers! 🗺️ A local's three-day Chaozhou itinerary, including itineraries and food, guaranteed to make your trip to Chaozhou a feast for the senses! ⭕️ Chaozhou Travel Tips ⚠️ Cultural and creative ice cream looks great in photos, but it's expensive and tastes terrible. ⚠️ Don't park on the side of the road or you'll get a ticket in no time. ⚠️ Don't buy cheap beef balls; they're all starchy and taste terrible. ⚠️ Be careful; the Chaozhou Fucheng Red Wall check-in spot isn't located under Guangji Building. ⚠️ Avoid queuing at popular restaurants; it's a complete waste of time. ⭕️ Food Tips 1️⃣ Don't let the waiter grab the licorice fruit! Choose your own to avoid being overwhelmed (mangoes/green mangoes are a must). 2️⃣ Try the beef balls before buying! Really hand-punched balls bounce three times (fake ones are rock hard). 3️⃣ Drink herbal tea to identify symptoms! Don't buy random "dampness-removing tea" (it's so bitter you'll shiver). 🛍️ For Chaozhou local specialties, choose [Yanghang Bakery - Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage]. As a provincial intangible cultural heritage shop with a history of nearly a century, the prices are affordable and you can sample or bring some back for your family. ⭕️ Must-try in Chaozhou 🥩Intangible Cultural Heritage - Time-Honored Brand - A Bin Beef Hotpot 🐟Ming Ji Yusheng - Yusheng Ceiling 🥣A Rong Claypot Porridge 🪿Intangible Cultural Heritage - Liu Bu Braised Goose 🍜Lei Ji Kuey Teow Noodle Rolls 🍗Zhenqian Street Fermented Bean Curd Chicken Wings 🍥Intangible Cultural Heritage - Shibaqu Fish Dumplings (West Malaysia Main Branch) 🍲Qian Chaoyan Chaozhou Cuisine (Main Branch) #ChaozhouFood #NationalDayTravelDiary #ChaozhouTravelGuide #ChaozhouFood #Must-SeeChaozhou
