一生平安There are two stores, very close to each other, one at the entrance of Kuanxiangzi snack street, and one just after entering Kuanxiangzi. Each store is crowded with people, and it is difficult to move around. There are all kinds of noodles, very complete. There is always one that you like.

Baked bread is one of the main breakfast staples of Hohhot people. Oh my god! It's really hard to understand! Yang Lao Da Baked bread in Kuanxiangzi attracts tourists from all directions, and locals often come here to buy it. The store is relatively large, and you can clearly see the production process of baked bread. Further inside is a large oven, where steaming baked bread comes from. I heard from the waiter in the store that the pastry chefs started working at 4 o'clock in the morning to make everyone eat a hot breakfast. | Ox tongue baked bread^ My favorite one, salty, wrapped in oil pastry. The baked bread here is made with sesame oil and kneaded by hand. Just out of the pot, take a bite, the crispy shell, the aroma is tempting, you can finish most of it directly, it's so cool!
After visiting Wuliang Temple, I still had a lot of time, so I found out that there was a Kuanxiangzi ethnic food street. This Yang Lao Da was not far from the entrance of the food street. It was said to be quite famous locally. As soon as I entered the door, I saw all kinds of unfamiliar dim sum. Some of them could be guessed, and many were incomprehensible, especially why they were called mooncakes. But I could see that the ingredients were really sufficient and the quantity was large. I picked a few to eat back. One was enough to fill me up, with enough carbohydrates and sugars.
Kuanxiang (Hangzi), located in the Hui Minority District of Hohhot, is, as its name suggests, a gathering place for the Hui people. This area didn't become bustling with the rise of tourism in Hohhot. It's where generations of Hohhot locals have passed down their tradition of halal cuisine. As children, we often went to the nearby Xianghe Small Commodity Wholesale Market to buy stationery, school bags, and enjoy skewers. In Kuanxiang, with so many shops, it's overwhelming what to eat. I generally stick to these places in Kuanxiang, for your reference: BBQ 👾Wang Wei, Wang Zhong, and Yan Jing BBQ. The three kebab restaurants in Kuanxiang are related, and any one of them is similar, with the traditional charcoal-grilled, smoky flavor of my childhood. I prefer Wang Wei. Baked 👾A traditional staple in Hohhot, similar to the sesame cakes and leavened pasta dishes of other northern cities, is available in a wide variety of styles. Yang Lao Da is the largest restaurant in Kuanxiang, but there are many smaller ones, all similar. The crispy, crumbly ones are best fresh from the oven. Bazi must be paired with pickles. There are several pickle shops in Kuanxiangzi, so you can choose from any of them. Bazizi can be taken away as a local specialty and will last for a week if refrigerated. Xianguogan👾 A traditional Hohhot drink, it's made with dried apricots, black dates, persimmons, and honey. It's sweet, refreshing, and healthy. Tangji's is delicious, while Wang Wei's is slightly more sour. Zhachuan👾 Although Tangji sells dried fruits, their fried skewers are just as good and are on my must-try list. They look just like the fried skewers I had as a kid, wrapped in dough and sprinkled with a thick layer of chili and sesame salt. Nice. Jianbing👾 Lao Ma Jianbing, freshly made and piping hot. Adding a few skewers of lamb inside is a traditional Hohhot way of enjoying it. As for the currently popular yogurt pancakes, I wouldn't actually buy them. They're new products that emerged after Kuanxiangzi became popular, and they're more of a sweet Mongolian dish. I recommend trying them at a Mongolian restaurant. Finally, I hope everyone enjoys their time in my hometown.
