Off-season, Rizhao is a rare treasure! 🏖️ 🌟 I've prepared a recommended two-day itinerary for you to explore this city's charm! 🏖️ Day 1: Lighthouse Square - Wanpingkou Gate 3 - Must-Try Seafood BBQ Hotel - Taigong Island Oyster Park Wanpingkou Gate 3: This is the main check-in point, perfect for photos and one of the best spots for watching the sunset. 🏖️ Day 2: Shanhaitian Sunshine Coast - Peach Blossom Island - University Town Night Market Shanhaitian Sunshine Coast: This is a haven for the sea, photo spots, and white buildings. 🏖️ Day 3: World Sailing Base - Forest Park - Egret Bay - Coffee and Sea World Sailing Base: This is a great place for fishing and spotting seagulls! 🚄 Transportation: We took the high-speed rail to Rizhao West Station and then a taxi to the hotel, about half an hour. Rizhao doesn't have a subway, so we recommend using ride-hailing services, taxis, or buses to reach tourist attractions. 🏨 Accommodation: We recommend staying near MixC or University Town. Off-season rates are very affordable, and transportation and shopping are convenient. If you can afford it, a room with a sea view is recommended. 📷 Photo Spots: Lighthouse Square: Reef area, Love Sea, beach swings, bird's nest, large lawn with European-style buildings, large windmills, coconut trees, etc. Forest Park: Ferris wheel, miniature train, elk garden, and a tree covered in sweaters in winter – perfect for a family outing. Taigong Island Oyster Park: A lesser-known photo spot, perfect for catching some seafood. 🥢 Food Recommendations: Must-Try Seafood BBQ Hotel (Wanpingkou Branch): This establishment has been open in Rizhao for over 20 years. It has a lovely atmosphere and has just been renovated. It's perfect for family gatherings or entertaining guests, with an average price of around 50-60 yuan per person. I often go there with friends. I love the garlic lobster, seafood platter, and pepper and salt mantis shrimp. They're all affordable). • Pot Stickers: Tsinghua Pot Stickers & Mian (juicy beef pot stickers paired with a warming mian soup), Chenji Tiaobao (chive and egg pancakes, crispy like potato chips). • Korean Cuisine: Koryo Restaurant BBQ (marinated pork belly, 20-year-old establishment), Yuling Pavilion (bimbap with runny eggs, spicy sauce is the star). • Shandong Cuisine: Lao Lanshan Greenhouse Tofu (tofu stewed with sea fish, and pancakes soaked in fish broth are so delicious), Tianrui Original Cuisine (sea intestine with rice, crispy sea intestine and moist rice). • Dumplings: Meishi Renjia (squid dumplings with a chewy texture and crispy octopus filling), Donglai Baozi Shop • Noodles: Pan's Handmade Noodles (hand-rolled ramen with pork ribs, simmered in bone broth until oily), Haishazi Noodles (the broth is made with sea sand, a unique and delicious dish in Rizhao). • Sichuan Cuisine: Three Wonders of Sichuan Cuisine (spicy chicken with pancakes, incredibly spicy and can be eaten wrapped in it, with tons of Sichuan peppercorns, a truly numbing and satisfying dish), Sichuan Xiang Restaurant (jumping fish is freshly killed and cooked, with a splash of hot oil creating a charred aroma). • Coffee: Coffee and Sea (floor-to-ceiling windows facing the coastline, latte art is a perfect backdrop, perfect for photo ops), Coffee and Trees (surrounded by lush greenery in the courtyard, the layers of dirt are incredibly beautiful). • Fried Skewers: Tender Pork Tenderloin Skewers (the tenderloin is coated in a thin batter and drizzled with sweet and spicy sauce, a reminder of school days), Lei Jie's Sauce-Fragrant Rice Noodles. • Fried Chicken: Lao Liu's Pancake Fried Chicken Courtyard (spicy fried chicken wrapped in pancakes, the pancakes absorb the broth more than the meat), Benji Xiaopao (I really love this sauce-fried chicken). • Milk Tea: A Shui Big Cup Tea (Rizhao local brand, jasmine milk tea with a rich aroma, Rizhao local milk tea is really good), Xi Rui Tea House (Rizhao version of "Cha Yan", Genting cream sprinkled with pecans). • Hot Pot: Spicy Alley Crispy Tripe Hot Pot (tripe cooked through and through, served with a sesame sauce dish), Hao A Niang (oysters cooked in a tomato pot, a sweet and fresh combination). • Hot Pot Chicken: Fei Yue Hot Pot Chicken (soybean sauce chicken stewed until boneless, potatoes added to soak up the juices), Liang Ji Hot Pot Chicken (slightly spicy with lettuce, crispy and tender, and a refreshing bite). • Western Food: ZERO (Watch the sunset over the sea from the terrace, steak with sea salt to enhance the flavor, a great Western restaurant with a great atmosphere for check-in), Honest Steak. Tips for Out-of-town Friends For seafood in Rizhao, go to Shijiu Market. You can choose your own seafood and then have it prepared by a local vendor. This is very economical and fresh. Alternatively, choose a restaurant with clearly marked prices. I recommend Aliyuan Seafood & Local Cuisine. I've been there many times and it's affordable, fresh, and tasty. Most importantly, the prices are clearly stated, so you won't be ripped off.
