饭醉分子闫涛Experience an immersive, one-stop culinary adventure at "Taste of China" restaurant.
Strictly speaking, this isn't an ordinary restaurant. It's a new space created by Ctrip, combining cinematic experiences with a gourmet dining experience, located underground in the old Shanghai Municipal Government building.
According to CEO Mr. Sun, this "Ctrip Restaurant" caters to international guests from all over the world. Guided by a culinary passport and led by the virtual chef "Cheng Baobao," guests can enjoy a panoramic view of China's magnificent landscapes and savor the flavors of various regions within a single dining experience. From Peking duck to grassland hot pot, from Lingnan shrimp dumplings and dim sum to sour soup fish and sweet fermented rice balls, the two-and-a-half-hour meal, guided by naked-eye 3D and interactive projections, and enhanced by the atmosphere of Sichuan opera face-changing and Shaolin monks, is a culinary tour on the dining table.

This meal was totally worth it. We also tried on traditional Chinese clothing and exchanged insights about the cultures, landscapes, and corresponding cuisines of different geographical regions in China. I think if we can have more place to take photo would be great.
The ambiance and food are both good, suitable for dates or bringing friends from overseas. However, it would be perfect if they added some squid balls or three-cup chicken to the menu sometime. My girlfriend's birthday surprise, which she had planned in advance, was missed, and we had to make up for it at the end, which diminished the experience.
Before going, I was worried the portions wouldn't be big enough, and I wouldn't be full. Actually, by the time the hot pot arrived, I was already stuffed, practically leaning against the wall. We went at noon, and the show officially started at 12:00. If you've bought makeup, I recommend arriving two hours early so you can change and put on makeup. If you don't, 30 to 40 minutes early is enough, so you can take photos and videos of the hallway. Enjoying the show while enjoying the food, the videos introduce the specialties of various regions across China, making you want to travel and enjoy the cuisine there. The waiters are also happy to take photos and videos with your phone. Each cuisine has its own corresponding tea, so we got to try teas from all over the world, which was a truly emotional experience.
As a Chinese, I was also shocked. I originally wanted to experience the atmosphere, but I didn't expect that in addition to the performance, the food was also amazing. It really deserves the name of an immersive restaurant. If you go, be prepared. I was a little full at the end of the food because I was too hungry and ate too fast at the beginning. I want to take my children there next time. It will definitely be very fun.
Upon entering, the welcoming lady at the entrance hands everyone a "passport" menu. Scanning the menu reveals an AR panda chef, Cheng Baobao! There are plenty of photo spots in the lobby, and I highly recommend taking a photo with the 5D panda Chef Cheng Baobao on the large screen—it's beyond impressive! The food completely exceeded my expectations!
Immersive experience restaurant 🍴, first recommend Taste of China, beautiful food + visual feast, it is definitely worth a visit 👍
