Shunji Traditional Cold Noodles

In this society where fakes are mixed with real goods, always remember that you get what you pay for. True gold is not afraid of fire. Shunji has her reasons, and it tastes different.

This is an old shop in Yanji. Its cold noodles are as famous as the cold noodles in the service building. There are many branches in Yanji. In order to eat the most authentic ones, I took a taxi to the main store to taste it. The raw beef is very tender and refreshing. The spicy fried pollack is delicious and was swept away by everyone. The braised beef platter is very special, and there are even beef balls. The pot-wrapped pork is different from what we usually eat. Come here to try it and you will know the difference. The big cold noodles came out last. There were ice chips in the cold noodle soup. This is the real "cold" noodles. The taste is good and the noodles are very chewy. The waiter is very enthusiastic and patiently introduces the special dishes. The environment is OK, a little noisy.

After three years of not traveling, Yanji, a popular city, and my love for Korean food, decided to go on a city walk! My schedule was tight, with only a day and a half in Yanji, so I focused on eating and taking in the sights! Perfect for a short trip! 🚗Transportation: Taxi fares start at 5️⃣ yuan! Taking a taxi is the best option, and you don't have to worry about detours. Check out the directions in advance. 🏨Hotel: The Yanbian Huayang Hotel is located behind the popular wall, with a night market downstairs. Most of the food I wanted to check out is nearby, but it's a bit pricey! At 800 yuan per night, booking a bit late meant the price was high. I recommend booking a hotel a month in advance. 🍱Food: [Yanji Fish Cakes] 8 for 10 yuan. I personally think the red bean ones are the best. [Shunji Cold Noodles] The cold noodle soup is made with ice chips, but it's delicious and a must-try! The small portion of sweet and sour pork is enough for three or four people! [Wu's Rice Rolls] Opens at 10:00 AM, and the line starts at the door by 9:30 AM. A pork elbow rice roll is enough for two people! It's only 78 yuan each! If you want to go, definitely line up in advance. [Houlang Cafe] If you're just going to get a cup to check out the popular wall, don't bother! There are a lot of paper cups for sale near the wall at night. [Dongdaemun Seaweed Rice Rolls] Super value for money. They don't use rice to fill the bowl; there's only a thin layer of rice. And don't even think about how filling it is. Every bite is truly satisfying! [Shidai Fried Chicken] Why didn't I choose Jeongdam's? Because they're incredibly popular. There's a line at 6:30 AM, and after opening at 9:30 AM, you still have to wait to order. I feel like there's no need to waste time waiting in line when you're out having fun. After all, there's more than one fried chicken place to choose from. So, I chose Shidai's, which can be delivered directly to the hotel, saving me a lot of time. The chicken is so tender and crispy, and paired with the side dishes and a beer, it's simply amazing! [Chef Zhang's Ginseng Chicken Soup] I personally found it just average. The chicken soup was quite fresh, but not as amazing as I'd imagined. I personally think the above dishes are quite unique and closer to Korean and North Korean cuisine. As for why I didn't choose barbecue, I feel like I can find similar options in my own city, and with limited time, I didn't prioritize them (my personal opinion varies). 🛍️Market: [Floating Market] 5:00-8:00 PM. We went at 6:00 PM and it was already packed. Don't hesitate; just buy whatever you want! The same items taste pretty similar at every place, so just pick the ones you think are best. There's only one place, [Pork Belly Wrapped in Cabbage], and I absolutely must try it! Be sure to time your visit well.
