Actually, at the beginning of the trip, I was still thinking about the Arxan "Swiss rolls," but I later realized that the autumn scenery here is definitely not just a substitute! Colorful forests, maar lakes, alpine meadows, and Changbai Mountain Heaven Lake—the scenery is so diverse that you won't get tired of it, and the food is delicious too 😋. 🚙 Our original road trip itinerary was as follows: Day 1: Changchun – Sihailongwan Maar Lake (Longwanqun National Forest Park) Day 2: Linjiang Valley Day 3: Changbai Mountain West Slope Day 4: Changbai Mountain South Slope Day 5: Erdaobaihe Town Jiuxi Tingquan Scenic Area / Lushuihe National Forest Park Day 6: Erdaobaihe Town – Changchun In practice, we had to make adjustments because the Changbai Mountain scenic area was closed. We went to Erdaobaihe first and then to the South Slope, which added a bit of a detour 🧭. 🍁 Sihailongwan Maar Lake: Standing on the observation tower, I saw the earth as it originally was ✨ A maar lake is a special type of volcanic crater lake formed by a steam explosion caused by the mixing of groundwater and magma 🌋. Longwanqun National Forest Park includes several scenic areas: Dalongwan, Sanjiaolongwan, Sihailongwan, and Diaoshuihu, with some distance between each. Sihailongwan is a newly opened scenic area this year, with an admission ticket of 49 🎫. There is an observation tower inside where you can see the panoramic view without a drone, which is why we chose Sihailongwan! As a newly opened scenic area, the facilities are not quite perfect, but the scenery is truly beautiful 🏞️. 🍁 Linjiang Valley: When alpine meadows meet maple valleys, it's exactly what a kid from the south imagines autumn to be 🍂 Admission ticket is 50. The scenic area is only accessible by self-driving, and it was really crowded during the National Day holiday, so I recommend entering the scenic area before 8:00 AM ⏰. We arrived at the entrance at 10:00 AM and waited for over an hour to get in 😅. 🍁 Changbai Mountain Heaven Lake: Even after seeing many beautiful sights, Heaven Lake is still breathtaking 🏔️ Check the weather forecast when planning your trip ☀️. You really need a bit of luck to see Heaven Lake—of course, we saw it twice, haha 🤭. The West Slope was very crowded during the National Day holiday, while the South Slope was less crowded and offered a much better experience. 🍁 Erdaobaihe Town Jiuxi Tingquan Scenic Area: We originally planned to go rafting at Lushuihe National Forest Park, but we gave up after hearing that the lines were very long 🏊♂️. Jiuxi Tingquan is about a 10-minute drive from town, and the admission ticket is 68. It wasn't crowded, and the scenery was quite nice—the sunset over the snowy cabins and the tranquility of the mountains made it feel as if the whole world had gone quiet 🌄. ⚠️ Also, it gets dark really early in Northeast China in the autumn. The sun starts to set after 3:00 PM, and it's completely dark by 5:30 PM. Driving at night is difficult 🚗, so it's best to head out early in the morning!

It’s home to the Lesser and Greater Khingan Mountains and Changbai Mountain, yet people only think of it in winter. But autumn in the Northeast is truly speechless-level beautiful 🤯 Plus, it’s uncrowded and affordable! Can you believe that the cost of one night in a popular tourist spot can cover a whole week here? 💰 If you’re tired of the crowds at viral photo spots, save this road trip route! Just pull over in any forest, and the whole world is yours 🏔️ 🚙 7-day autumn chasing route: D1 Harbin – Yichun D2 Yichun – Jinshan Deer Park – Daliangzihe Forest Park – Tangwang River – Tangyuan County D3 Tangyuan – Aoqiwan – Hengdaohezi D4 Hengdaohezi – Changbai Mountain Loop – Lushuihe D5 Lushuihe – Songjianghe – Tonghua D6 Tonghua – Benhuan Highway – Qingman Fenglin – Yanghugou – Benxi D7 Benxi – Guanmen Mountain – Shenyang 🍁 Best viewing period: Late September – mid-October Autumn colors don't wait! Hesitate for a few days and the leaves will all be gone 😱 🔻 Yichun Jinshan Deer Park 🔻 The only tourist spot I recommend on the whole trip! You must get there early in the morning! Go before the deer head up the mountain. It’s freezing in the morning 🥶, but seeing the deer in the morning mist makes it all worth it! 🔻 Changbai Mountain North Slope Loop Road 🔻 A stunning section of G331! From Erdaobaihe to Songjianghe, the colorful forests along the way are layered with gold, as rich in color as a palette 🎨 You can also see the snow-capped peak of Changbai Mountain from a distance—you can take blockbuster photos without even entering the scenic area. 🔻 Benhuan Highway 🔻 The legendary China Maple Leaf Avenue!! The best parts are at Qingman Fenglin and Yanghugou; they’re free and even more beautiful than the scenic areas. When the maple leaves turn bright red on both sides of the stream and the colorful forest reflects in the water, it’s truly beyond words 😭 🔻 Heda Highway 🔻 On the way from Songjianghe to Tonghua along G201, I stumbled upon a fairytale-like forest. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, just like walking into a movie scene 🎬 💡 Autumn chasing tips: ✅ Don't go into the scenic areas! They’re crowded and have fewer leaves; aunties pluck the red leaves to make wreaths 😅 ✅ The autumn sun in the Northeast is gentle, perfect for taking photos all day long 📸 ✅ It gets dark after five! Start early while it’s light out! ✅ Self-driving is recommended! The scenery on the road is way, way more beautiful than in the scenic areas. ✅ Be decisive when chasing autumn! If you see fallen leaves, change locations; the autumn colors a few hundred kilometers away might be just right. Autumn in the Northeast is truly stunning and off the beaten path. Go for it before too many people discover it! 🏃♀️

Autumn in Changbai Mountain is as short as an impatient person. At higher altitudes, those autumn colors run away even faster. The leaves on the trees were golden yesterday, but after a gust of wind today, they were stripped away cleanly and decisively, without a second thought. Fortunately, Heaven Lake was very kind today. The autumn air is crisp and clear, with no wind or fog. Visibility is perfect, and the panoramic view is so clear it’s almost surreal. The water is a deep, bottomless blue; when the wind blows, sunlight shatters across the surface, sparkling. On the surrounding slopes, the meadows and tundra are golden, exuding a wild, desolate charm. The awe you feel with your own eyes simply cannot be captured by a camera. A lens can’t contain that vastness, and no matter how many pixels you have, it’s not as real as standing in the wind and seeing it for yourself. You realize that, in this vast world, we are as small as a grain of sand, yet your heart feels strangely at peace. Once I’d seen enough, I wandered down the wooden boardwalk to see Changbai Waterfall. The mountain forest along the way was serene, with the sound of gurgling water beneath my feet. I’m not sure where that wild water came from, but listening to it put my mind at ease, and even my steps felt lighter. When I arrived, the waterfall was plunging straight down from the dark gray cliffs, with mist and a cool chill hitting my face. Standing there listening for a while was quiet and healing; all the chaotic thoughts in my mind were washed away by the rushing water. It was incredibly atmospheric. Walking further down, I reached Green Abyss Pond. The water here is stunning—clear and emerald green, like a piece of translucent antique jade hidden deep in the forest. Just looking at it gives you a sense of pure tranquility. Sunlight filtered through the trees, and the light and shadows swayed gently on the lake, like a layer of scattered gold. A few branches of golden autumn leaves reached out from the side. You don’t need to worry about composition here; even if you just snap a photo blindly, it turns out like a masterpiece. A few honest tips: The wind on the mountain is strong, so remember to bring a chin strap for your hat. Seeing Heaven Lake is all about luck—if you can see the full view, don’t rush down the mountain. You’ll be taking so many photos here, so make sure you have plenty of storage space on your phone or camera, and bring a power bank so you don’t get caught empty-handed.

Just got back from Changbai Mountain ☁️ The wind in the mountains is intense... Temperatures fluctuate significantly, it gets foggy from time to time, and you might even encounter the first snow. If you're planning a trip, keep a close eye on the weather. ✅ Current scenery Vast forests are painted in layers of yellow, orange, and red. Some high-altitude areas may see light snow, creating a unique atmosphere where colorful forests mix with a thin layer of white. If it's foggy, Heavenly Lake can easily be obscured; whether you can see it depends entirely on the weather that day, so don't set your expectations too high. The autumn forests at the base are beautiful, but the wind at the summit is biting. The temperature difference between the top and bottom of the same area is significant. 🗺️ Essential one-day itinerary for the North Slope ⏰ 7:30 AM: Arrive at the scenic area early, take the eco-friendly shuttle bus, and try to avoid the crowds that pour in later ⏰ 8:10 AM–8:50 AM: Transfer to the vehicle heading to the main peak of Heavenly Lake. If strong winds pick up, it might be temporarily closed, so be prepared for that 👉 If you're lucky, you'll see the lake surface. If clouds and fog roll in, you'll only see the forest sea in the mountains. Just enjoy the scenery as it comes ⏰ 9:00 AM–9:45 AM: Head back down from Heavenly Lake to Changbai Waterfall and walk slowly along the boardwalk 👉 The valley's autumn colors cover both sides. You can try the hot spring eggs by the roadside; they have a unique taste ⏰ 9:50 AM–10:40 AM: Head to Green Abyss Pool. The water is emerald green and clear, and the surrounding trees are rich in color. Every photo looks great ✨ ⏰ 10:50 AM–12:00 PM: Explore the Underground Forest. Walk along the gentle wooden boardwalk through the forest. The air is fresh, and it's very comfortable for a leisurely stroll ⏰ 12:10 PM–1:00 PM: Find a place to stop for a meal and rest to recharge ⏰ 1:10 PM–2:20 PM: If you have time, you can wander around the area to see the autumn valley scenery without rushing to hit every spot ⏰ 2:30 PM: Take the bus back toward the mountain gate, ending your full day of sightseeing ⚠️ Honest advice 1️⃣ The temperature difference between the top and bottom of the mountain is extreme, and the wind at the summit is fierce. Bring a thick jacket, hat, and gloves. If you only wear thin clothes, you'll easily get uncomfortably cold 🥶 2️⃣ You'll be doing a lot of walking throughout the day, and the ground can occasionally be icy and slippery. Be sure to wear non-slip, soft-soled shoes; don't wear hard-soled shoes 👟 3️⃣ The temperature in the mountains is low, and phone batteries drain quickly, so carry a power bank with you. Don't be too disappointed if you can't see Heavenly Lake due to fog; the autumn scenery in the mountains is equally worth seeing

Just back from Changbai Mountain. The temperature difference between the base and the summit is like two different seasons. The wind at the top makes the temperature drop instantly, and if you aren't dressed warmly, you'll freeze 😓. You don't need to rush through every spot. I've put together some travel tips here—for those planning a trip to Changbai Mountain, save this! 🌤 Weather & Outfit Guide 🔸 Temperature: 12–20℃ during the day at the base, while the summit can drop to around 0℃. It's mostly sunny, but quite windy with strong UV rays. 👙 Outfit Recommendations: ▫️ For the Heavenly Lake summit: Quick-dry base layer + fleece mid-layer + thin down jacket. Don't forget a hat and scarf for the wind. ▫️ For daily sightseeing: Long sleeves and pants, paired with non-slip hiking shoes. The wooden boardwalks in the forest are covered in fallen leaves and can be slippery. ▫️ Must-haves: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, thermos, and a few hand warmers. Drinking hot water at the summit is very comforting. 🗺️ One-Day Itinerary ⏰ 7:40 AM: Arrive at the scenic area transfer center. Head up early for a better chance of seeing the Heavenly Lake on a clear day. ⏰ 8:20 AM–9:40 AM: Take the shuttle to the Heavenly Lake viewing platform. Walk slowly; don't run or jump. It's windy at the summit, so you don't need to stay too long. If the weather is good, you can see the entire lake. ⏰ 9:50 AM–11:20 AM: Head down to Changbai Waterfall. Follow the trail to get closer. The water rushes down from the cliff, and the surrounding rocks have a cool, autumnal texture. ⏰ 11:30 AM–12:30 PM: Rest and grab a bite at a nearby service area. Try the hot spring eggs for a quick energy boost. ⏰ 12:40 PM–2:20 PM: Head to Green Abyss Pool 🌊. The emerald green water paired with the surrounding colorful forest makes for a quiet and cool spot. Take a slow stroll along the lakeside path. ⏰ 2:20 PM–3:10 PM: Walk through the Underground Forest. The thick fallen leaves feel soft underfoot; listen to the wind in the trees. ⏰ 3:20 PM–4:00 PM: Take the shuttle back to the transfer center and enjoy the autumn scenery along the way. ⏰ 4:10 PM: End of the trip; head down the mountain and depart. 📝 Sincere Advice 💫 Prioritize the North Slope route. The attractions are concentrated, facilities are better, and it's beginner-friendly. 💫 The Heavenly Lake is heavily affected by weather. It may close temporarily due to heavy fog or strong winds, so don't make your itinerary too rigid—be flexible. 💫 There are many stairs. Going down is hard on the knees, so consider bringing knee pads to reduce the strain. 💫 Options at the summit are limited and prices are high. Pack your own drinking water and snacks in advance. 💫 Temperatures in the mountains change quickly. Always keep a windbreaker with you; don't just prepare clothes based on the temperature at the base.

Suitable for Those who love landscapes and pristine scenery, want to refresh their senses and recharge, senior-friendly, and trips with minimal walking. Best time to visit Summer retreats, autumn foliage, winter rime and Heavenly Lake—stunning in every season. Detailed itinerary Day 1: North Slope Scenic Area → Distant view of Heavenly Lake → Waterfall and Green Abyss Pool Prioritize the North Slope route; it has the most complete facilities, is the least strenuous, and is the most reliable. Take the scenic shuttle up the mountain; no high-intensity hiking required. If the weather is good, you can see the deep blue Heavenly Lake, with a surface as clear as a mirror. After seeing the Heavenly Lake, explore downwards: Changbai Mountain Waterfall, Green Abyss Pool, and Underground Forest. The air is fresh, and the forest coverage is extremely high, like walking into a natural oxygen bar, leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Day 2: Hot spring experience → Forest walk → Relaxed return trip The most comfortable part of Changbai Mountain is the natural hot springs. After enjoying the mountain scenery, soak in a hot spring to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. Spend the morning leisurely strolling along the forest trails, watching the streams and pine forests—perfect for refreshing and aesthetic photos. Return in the afternoon; the itinerary is relaxed and stress-free. Food & accommodation Food: Hot spring eggs, Korean-style cold noodles, Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork), wild mountain vegetables. Stay: Hot spring hotel at the foot of the mountain; soaking in the hot spring at night is very comfortable. Travel tips 1. The weather at Heavenly Lake is changeable; it may be sunny at the base but foggy at the summit, so keep an open mind. 2. It is windy and cold on the mountain; bring a light jacket regardless of the season. 3. Try to head up the mountain early to avoid the crowds.

Just got back from Changbai Mountain, and I'm still thinking about it... While organizing my photos, I couldn't help but recommend the Laiman Hotel in Erdaobaihe! The location is a total winner It's right next to the North Slope Tourist Distribution Center! For those planning to get up early to be the first to reach Heaven Lake, it's incredibly convenient. No need to wait in the freezing wind for a taxi at dawn—isn't it better to get an extra half hour of comfortable sleep in the morning? ✨ Full marks for both aesthetics and comfort The design of the lobby and rooms is high-quality, and the soft furnishings are cozy. You can snap photos in any corner and the atmosphere is just perfect 📷. After coming back frozen from Heaven Lake in sub-zero temperatures, pushing open the door to feel the warmth instantly envelop you is incredibly healing~ 🛁 A dream for those who care about details The bedding is extremely soft and skin-friendly—once you lie down after a long day, you won't want to get up. The soundproofing is also excellent, so you don't have to worry about being disturbed. What I loved most was the shower—the water pressure was great and it was nice and hot! After washing away the chill, I just dove into bed and had a wonderfully restful sleep. 🍜 Convenient surroundings There are plenty of great restaurants just a short walk away, and it's very close to the town's popular spots. If you're planning a trip to see the snow in Changbai Mountain soon, don't hesitate—you can book this one without a second thought! 👇
Changbai Mountain, true to its name, is incredibly clean! The restrooms in all areas were spotless, with sensor-activated flushes and hot water for handwashing – a truly touching experience for an autumn/winter trip. The restrooms had different themes, such as sables and black bears, adding a touch of vibrancy. We arrived a little late; most of the leaves had fallen, and it was the dry season, so the waterfalls weren't at their most beautiful. The small Tianchi Lake wasn't worth visiting yet; it's small, the water quality is so-so, and the surrounding forests are bare. Overall, the autumn air was crisp and clear. The 50-kilometer stretch from the distribution center to the transfer center was beautiful, vibrant with color, and Tianchi Lake was stunning. I especially loved the forest at the bottom of the valley; the pine scent was wonderful! I highly recommend walking to the end; there are vast, fairytale-like forests there, and we were lucky enough to encounter foxes and quite a few chipmunks along the way!
风沙渡_It was breathtaking! My trip to Changbai Mountain this National Day holiday was definitely worthwhile. The moment I saw the entire Tianchi Lake, I felt like I'd have a year full of good luck. The景区 staff were also very friendly and responsible, helping us with our ticket booking.
M43***72Staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel allows you to enjoy the hot springs downstairs, with unlimited access every day. The natural hot springs are excellent. Special thanks to Wang Rongmei, the staff member, for their attentive and warm service. This trip was very pleasant and highly recommended. I would love to come back again next time.
Catherine1983Although many say China's Snow Town is becoming too touristy & expensive (compared to Snow Valley), I think it is still worth visiting. There are lots of ACTIVITIES to do all within walking distance. Reindeer rides, feeding, skiing, photo op including the hot water vapor video etc. One down side is that there was no signage to designated bus to/from Yabuli station (no waiting area either). It is also difficult to find restaurants for people with dietary restrictions (eg. Vegetarian, halal etc).
Faizal BBooking tickets on the platform is very convenient; you can just swipe your ID card to enter without picking up a ticket. The information provided by the platform is accurate. I have always used this platform for travel and will continue to pay attention to it.
小小可爱1931Although it's an artificial photo spot, it's still quite interesting because I've never seen architecture like this before. The garden is actually very small; you can walk through it in no time if you don't take photos, so you don't need to stay too long.
原小原Navigation location: Magic World Rafting parking lot, Magic World Rafting ticket office, VIP green channel. Rafting distance: 4.8km. For the longest rafting section, be sure to check your navigation carefully. (1km rafting route including the large spring and rafting area)
长白山魔界漂流lcIt's definitely worth a visit. The reindeer are all very well-behaved, so don't be afraid they might hurt you. They're all very affectionate. The biggest issue is that the male reindeer were in heat, so the smell was quite strong, but everything else was great. The kids loved it!
初一坚强😱The log flume was thrilling!😄 🎢The roller coaster is a favorite among young people❤, but the weightlessness of the drop tower made me hesitate. Kudos to the brave riders!😃 🏃Amusement park worth a try!👍
Lj-32fanfanChangbai Mountain Demon World Scenic Area is located in the coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest belt of Changbai Mountain, where more than 50 rare tree species, more than 120 wild vegetation species, and more than 30 animal and bird species grow.
