The smoked salmon starter was really nice. The salad was pretty good too, though the portion was a bit on the small side.

The spicy chicken burger was so flavourful, and the chicken was a proper generous piece. The fries were light and crispy, which was a nice touch. Service was considerate, too.

Nice little pub. Had the pierogi, portion was huge! Could barely finish it. Beer selection's decent. The old oval bar is pretty cool.

A nice little find off Nicolson Street. The coffee was a pleasant surprise alongside the usual drinks.

The cask ale here is always spot on. They keep the lines clean, so the beer tastes fresh and crisp. It's a proper pub pour, not like some places where it's warm and flat.

Staff are always so friendly here. They gave us some really good menu suggestions, which was helpful as we were a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Felt very welcome.

A nice lunch spot. The fish and chips came out quickly, which I always appreciate. The server was polite and came by once to see if we needed anything else. It made for a relaxed, easy meal.

The open fire makes it feel so cosy, especially on a chilly evening. I love their sundaes, they're a proper treat after the roast. Staff are always smiling, even when it's packed.

The fish and chips here are a proper portion. The fish itself was huge and the batter was light and crisp. The homemade tartar sauce really made it, though – tangy and fresh. Couldn't finish it all!

Popped in for a morning coffee and it really hit the spot. The staff were so friendly, which was a nice way to start the day.

The restaurant offers a fantastic view of the Forth Bridge, making it a lovely spot for a meal, even if the food quality varies.

Great spot for a quick lunch. The classic fish and chips came out fast and hit the spot. Nice local vibe, and the staff were friendly. Perfect for when you need a decent bite without the wait.

Came for a gig, grabbed a local beer. The crowd was friendly, vibe was good. But honestly, the pint was £6.50. For a local brew, that felt a bit steep.

The haggis and black pudding fritters were a really nice idea. The black peppercorn sauce was the star for me, went perfectly with them. Found the chairs a bit hard for a longer sit, but the service was lovely and attentive.

Been coming here for years, it's a reliable spot. The burgers are always cooked just right, juicy and not dry. The live music on weekends is a nice touch, makes for a good atmosphere. Staff are quick too.

The cocktails were great, but I really appreciated how fresh the ingredients tasted. You could tell they use quality stuff.

No. 13 of Bars in Edinburgh

Food was a 4/5 but the amazing service bumped it up to a 5/5! The staff really went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience.

Breakfast spot. Poached eggs with haggis and chili jam were a real treat. Service was fine, but had to wait a bit for water. Quick seating though.

The live music was a nice touch. We were planning a quick dinner but ended up staying for an extra hour. Good atmosphere for a business catch-up.

Stopped in for the vegan fish and chips. The jackfruit and nori combo actually works, and the portion is huge. Skinny fries were spot on, really crispy. Solid choice if you're in the area.

Such a nice change from the usual dark pub vibe! The space is so bright and colourful, it just feels really welcoming. The staff were super friendly too.

The pulled mushroom chili was really good, and I appreciated that the staff asked about allergies before we ordered. Nice spot.

Decent spot for a pint. The split-level layout is nice, makes it feel bigger inside than it looks. Comfortable seating by the window for people-watching. The main area is fine too, though it can get a bit loud when busy.

The pea soup was really good, thick and warming. Nice to know it's a Robert Burns thing, and the place has been around forever. Just a solid, classic pub vibe.

Fish and chips for a quick lunch. Fish was crispy, chips were decent. Got my order in under 10 minutes, which is what I needed. Good spot for a fast bite.

Been coming here for years. The beer garden out back is always the perfect spot to unwind.

The fire was crackling just right, and the whole place felt so snug. Staff were lovely, didn't rush us at all. Exactly what you want on a cold night.

Popped in for a glass of red and ended up staying for a snack. The charcuterie board was solid, nice selection. The toasties are definitely the move here, really hit the spot. Good spot for a casual bite.

Good quality food. Excellent friendly service. Very approachable and welcoming. Menu has a good and varied chose. Dietary requirements catered for.

Proper old-school Edinburgh pub. They've got a great selection of German beers on tap, which is a nice change. The music's a bit of an odd mix, but it works. Solid spot.
